Yesterday, one of my very best friends, Erica, came to visit us in Chicago for the first time. (Erica left NYC about a year ago and moved to Milwaukee. It was a rough time for us. I can’t even express how wonderful it is to be so close again!) We had a great night–appetizers on the back porch, dinner at STATE, and after-dinner drinks at Derby. While celebrating the fact that we’re now reunited, Erica asked us what we’re planning for our first wedding anniversary. Our reaction? “Whoops.”
We’re less than a week out, and we didn’t even realize, haha. We’re chalking it up to a stressful last couple of months… and that it really doesn’t feel like a year has passed. (Marriage is even better than being engaged!) Honestly, it seems like it was just yesterday that Mitch was down on one knee, I was attending my bridal shower, we were taking our engagement photos (and then trying again), I was flying to Nantucket for my bachelorette, we were addressing invites, we were attending our rehearsal, I was getting ready, and we were making the best decision of our lives. (I watch this video a lot. Even though it keeps getting taken off the internet for copyright violations. Oh well.)
Anyway, I apologize for the sappy trip down memory lane! I guess I can’t help but miss that wonderfully exciting time. Don’t get me wrong: I certainly don’t want to plan a wedding again. (I didn’t realize just how much goes into it!) But man. It was freaking awesome.
