Recent Finds, 11/11

Cable-Knit Sweater (In gray, which I think is actually so much cuter!) / Faux Leather Leggings (Also have and love this pair.) / Gucci Loafers (But own this pair, too, and they’re GREAT. Dose of reality: I only own the Gucci version b/c of the blog and some past projects I’ve done with department stores. 100 percent, I would only own the Sam Edelman version–which look nearly the same–if this site didn’t exist!) / Goyard Bag (This, however, is something I would own, haha. I’m a sucker for owning a few nice bags instead of a dozen so-so ones.)

It’s currently 25 degrees outside as I’m typing this, and I’m bundled under a bunch of blankets. How, Chicago? How?! ;)

It looks like winter arrived early this year. I mean, Tuesday’s projected low is 19 degrees. Game over. 😂

That’s okay, though. I pulled out all my chunky sweaters last week–including this favorite, which is back in stock in gray!–and I’m doing my best to find the silver lining. First, at least it feels like the holidays! Second, Mitch told me to start thinking about a January warm-weather getaway. While we travel often, we mostly visit our parents or go on press trips. We actually rarely go on true vacations, so I’m VERY excited about this. :) I love Chicago, but getting away during the winter is so necessary for the soul.

We have a ton on the agenda today! I know it’s Sunday, but I’m kind of overwhelmed by how much holiday-related work I have on my plate right now, so I’m trying to get some of it out of the way before the work week starts.

This morning, we’re shooting post about hosting Thanksgiving for the first time, which means we get to cook (and eat) a turkey dinner before 10 a.m.! (Yassss. And by “cook,” I mean mostly pick up from Whole Foods because I don’t have the energy to cook multiple Thanksgiving dinners this year, haha.) After that, we’re doing our annual Christmas photos with J.Crew Factory, and then we’re headed down to Ralph Lauren to get started on a holiday campaign. (WAIT until you see the clothes. Specifically Emma’s. Swoon!)

So let’s keep things easy on the blog front so I don’t die. ;) Here are this week’s 10 top-selling products and my recent finds. :) Oh! And don’t forget: The J.Crew Friends and Family sale is on. Use code “FRIENDS” to take 30 percent off, and “FAMILY” to take 25 percent off. (If you’re a rewards member.)

This week’s 10 top-selling products:

Tartan Scarf: This one sells out quickly, and J.Crew doesn’t always bring it back. I get so many questions about mine every year, so definitely snatch yours before it sells out!

The Shelburne Parka: This is my hardcore winter parka. Thus far, it’s the warmest one I’ve found, and I will say that if you live in Chicago or somewhere else with similar weather, it’s worth it (in my opinion). Still, the price is fairly absurd. Does anyone have any suggestions for more affordable SUPER WARM parkas?! Would love to do a comparison post at some point!

Biltmore Faux Fur Vest: LOVE. THIS. SO. MUCH. I’d been after a faux fur vests for years, and got this one last year. It’s truly perfect. The color is awesome, the quality is there, and it’s flattering. The only thing I’ll say is that it does run large. I went one size down and it’s great.

Old Navy Stevie Pants: Apparently I was living under a rock, but these ponte pants–which are really just more substantial leggings that you could probably wear to work–are the best! I can’t recommend them more. Initially, I bought them in the plaid, but when back for the suede. I can’t get over the price!

Halogen Seamed Leggings: While the Stevie pants are incredible, these are the black leggings I wear the most. They’re more legging-like, and they’re so comfy.

Loopy Stitch Cable-Knit Scarf: Doesn’t this look ridiculously soft?!

$38 Pea Coat: Always a winner. Have you seen this new version?!

J.Crew Cocoon Coat: Hands down, my favorite wool coat because it’s so warm. I couldn’t wear wool coats during the winter because of a circulatory disorder… until this number came along. Size down.

Waterproof Riding Boots: They’re that good! I wear these whenever I’m going out and it’s raining. Wearing rainboots all day is the worst, isn’t it?! No need to anymore…

Regent Top Coat: It’s shipping! I have the camel but I’m kind of desperate for the pink, haha.
