I kind of can’t believe I’m here. (On this site, I mean. 😜) As you may remember, I reprioritized things last year, and purposefully put the blog on the back burner. In my 20s and much of my 30s, I had no problem burning the midnight oil and making sure I had new blog posts up on the reg.
As someone with a circulation disorder who lived in the tri-state area their whole life, I thought I understood what it meant to be cold—until we moved to Chicago. I was *woefully* unprepared. Now? Don’t worry about me guys, I’m definitely over-prepared. 🤣 Still, as soon as the temperatures start to drop ALL I WANT TO BE IS COZY. Especially once Christmas passes and there’s just no good reason to be freezing anymore.
Oh my gosh, guys. Part of me is asking how it’s already Friday, while the other part of me is like, YAY IT’S FINALLY FRIDAY. To be clear: Even though the girls had the week off from school (which I love, for both them and their teachers!) Mitch’s parents took them to the lake for a couple of days, so I have no reason to complain. As you all know, the Larkin household just exists in a special state of chaos at all times,
Visiting Saugatuck, Michigan has been on our travel list for years. And this past weekend, we finally made it there! A short 2.5-hour drive from Chicago, Saugatuck is nestled against a couple of other charming towns on the shores of Lake Michigan. Think “Nantucket meets Stars Hollow.” And while it’s obviously enjoyed by visitors in the summer months, fall is absolutely enchanting there.

Today’s post is a little more serious than the average Mitch post because we’re partnering with Evolv Technology to discuss their impressive new efforts to improve public safety. As the son of a teacher, former teacher myself, current city dweller and father of two full-time elementary school students, the safety of my family while out in public is always top of mind. And it’s been very encouraging and exciting to learn about the new security technologies being developed by Evolv Technology to help make our communities safer!
