Navy Sweater Jacket / Cable-Knit Tank / Jeans / Sneakers
Here’s the thing about spring in Chicago:
It doesn’t exist. 😂
Not in the sense that we normally think about spring, at least. Kurt Vonnegut once asserted that there are six seasons, not four—and he described March and April as not part of spring, but rather “Unlocking.” (Read the excerpt here for his full explanation! It’s great.) Since reading that, I no longer hate this time of year. And I no longer dress like it’s actual spring, which is May and June.
So how does one dress for Unlocking/Pre-Spring in Chicago? Not in sun dresses and open-toed sandals, that much I’ll tell ya! It’s all about warm cold-weather clothes in hues and patterns we see during actual spring.
Some of our favorite lines of clothing on Walmart have awesome Unlocking staples right now, and today the girls and I are sharing our picks. They’re all affordable—and some happen to be on sale right now! As longtime Walmart+ members, we love the ease of shopping online, speedy delivery times and easy returns. And I almost always check out the Free Assembly line before hitting “buy,” since they regularly add new (perfectly classic) pieces!
This time around, my faves were this Navy Sweater Jacket, this White Cable-Knit Tank and this Nautical Navy Striped Sweater, while Lucy loved this pink cozy matching set. (It’s currently on sale for $7, btw!) Oh, and Emma STOLE my wonderfully soft pink sweatshirt and refuses to give it back, haha. I can’t believe we’ve entered into this era!
