I did a “Dressing Room Stories” post during the last big Nordstrom Sale and had so much fun doing it! So Mitch and I ran over to Nordstrom (which is weirdly super close to where we’re staying?!) in Denver Friday morning to do it again for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
We couldn’t stop laughing. I wish I’d taken a video of Mitch during it; he was hilarious with his commentary and analysis of the products. But seriously: thanks for taking the majority of these pics, Hubby. You have such a wonderful (and funny!) attitude about life, and looking back on this post cracks me up.
Anyway, here’s my big roundup of my favorite preppy picks from the sale in case you missed it. And below you can find about half of what I tried on as well as fit and “review” information! Stay tuned for Part II. ;)

Review
Without a doubt, the Soft Ruffle Jacket is my favorite purchase from the sale. Admittedly, my jacket collection has grown quite a bit over the last few years. But as you guys know, Chicago isn’t exactly known for its warmth. ;) But yeah: I can’t get over how adorable this little number is! It’s super soft, as its name suggests, and I love how well this bow top sticks out of the top. I honestly can say that I’ve never seen a cuter jacket, and you can’t beat the price! (I will say, however, that this is NOT a winter jacket. I’ll be wearing mine in the fall and spring, and taking it on vacation with us.)
Sizing
I’m wearing a size medium here because it was the last one in the store. But I really had to cinch it underneath in order to get it to look normal for the photo. ;) I find Halogen, in general, runs large. I ordered an XS (my normal size), though, because I want to be able to layer when the temperatures drop.

Review
I tried on SO many jeans, but this pair of skinnies took the cake. AG jeans are pretty pricey, and I couldn’t believe the discount on such a popular fit! They’re a little edgy for me, but I’m really loving the look of (slightly) distressed jeans these days. I also adore how soft this pair is, that the jeans are a little thicker for fall and winter, that there’s a good amount of stretch to them but not too much, and that they have a bit more space in the waist. (No muffin top. Yassss.)
Sizing
I found that they ran TTS. I’m usually a size 25 or 26 in designer jeans, and I went with a 25 in these. (Not sure if this is helpful, but I wear a size 25 in J.Crew, too.)

I’m always really excited when Longchamp bags go on sale, and this year, the classic expandable one AND the leather one are on sale. I use my Longchamp constantly, especially while traveling, as it folds up and takes up very little space in a carry-on or suitcase. And goodness: I just love the all-leather one in navy!
Sizing
The expandable one looks just like the classic when it’s zipped, so that’s pretty awesome. And the fact that it expands is even better for travel or #momlife. (Here’s a post I recently wrote on my favorite summer travel bags, by the way.)

Review
I’d been looking at this coat for a LONG time, as my mom has it and I absolutely love it. Really can’t believe that it’s included in the sale! It’s incredibly lightweight yet very warm. I’ve worn my mom’s coat on the beach several times in the winter, and I was astounded by how toasty it kept me! It looks like a lot of colors are selling out quickly, but I’d expect a restock at some point. Keep an eye out!
Also, this vest almost NEVER goes on sale. Snag it while you can; I’m stunned that it’s still in stock!
Sizing
Patagonia runs small. I’m wearing a small here, which is what I always wear in Patagonia. If this is your first time ordering the brand, definitely go one size up.
As for the vest, I’m wearing a medium here. Go up one–if not two–sizes.
Tory Burch Janey Pump
Review
SO excited about these pumps. I’m all about investing in classic shoes that’ll stand the test of time, and these are shoes I know I’ll wear for years to come. I bought them in brown because I wear much more navy than black, but the black pair is a classic, too. ;) I also love the lower chunked heel, perfect for city walking!
Sizing
For reference, I’m between a 7 and 7.5 in most shoes. Sometimes I wear a size 7 in heels if there’s a little slipage. With this pair, I took a size 7.5. No sliding! Perfect fit.

I didn’t end up taking this vest home because I already have a very similar one, but I had to show it to you since it was one of my top picks! I’m SUCH a vest girl because they usually help me get by without breaking out my coats for an extra month. I also think they’re crazy flattering. This one is favorite because it has pockets! (Score.) And love that it comes in navy, too.
Sizing
It’s one-size-fits-all. I initially didn’t think it would work for me since I’m a pretty tiny human being, but it totally did! I tried to take a bunch of photos to show different angles, but it seems like if you’re between a size 0 and 16, you’re good, haha.

It was love at first sight when I saw this little number, under $50! It’s not itchy at all, and it hangs just the right way. I know it’s selling out quickly, but here’s a similar light pink sweater that ties at the sides that also went home with me!

I might like this one even better! It’s cashmere… something I’ve become addicted to while living in Chicago, and it’s under $90! Love how the back gives my butt a little more coverage, and the little bows at the sides are the cutest. I love it in oatmeal and in navy, too.
