Ann Taylor Cape (And love this wrap coat), Striped Top (This is a great alternative) and Tassel Flats (And aren’t these the cutest?!) c/o / Seamed Ponte Leggings / Goyard Bag (Size “GM”)
Today, over on Instagram, I’m teaming up with Ann Taylor and giving away a $1,000 gift card! And since I know a good number of my readers don’t use IG regularly, I thought I’d hop on the blog and let you everyone know the details of the giveaway. :)
Entering is incredibly simple:
- “Like” the Ann Taylor giveaway post on my Instagram account.
- Leave a comment in the comment section. (Extra entry for tagging a friend! Btw: you can say whatever you’d like, as long as it’s PG and relatively friendly. 😜 I’m hoping to see a lot of #swimmingscallops, hahaha.)
- Make sure you’re following @kellyinthecity and @anntaylor.
So easy, right?! I’ll be announcing and contacting the winner via Instagram this Friday, October 26th.
Okay! Now that we covered the giveaway, let’s talk about the outfit you see in these pics. I wore the Sunday after the wedding in New York, and I can’t believe how many women stopped me to ask where the cape was from while Mitch and I took a long walk around Central Park. (One of our favorite fall activities!)
The cape
Remember this post on capes and ponchos from last year? Ugh; I desperately wish that gorgeous Draper James cape were still available. But lo! This is totally the cape of 2018, and it’s arguably better than the DJ one, since it’s a solid camel color and therefore goes with far more. A few things you should know:
- It’s obviously oversized, so take that into consideration when ordering. There are also only two sizes. If you’re between an 00 and 8, I would go for the XS/S, and if you’re between an 10 and 18, I would opt for the M/L.
- A couple of the reviews say that the buttons were loose upon receiving the cape. I did not find that to be the case! My buttons are sturdily attached, and I had zero problems with them keeping the cape together.
- While the cape is 50 percent wool, it’s not overwhelmingly heavy, making it easy to move around in. There’s polyester in it, too, making it more wrinkle-resistant than other light wool coats I own. Travels well, too! I folded it up and put it in my suitcase for our New York trip, and didn’t have to iron it when I took it out. (I HATE ironing while traveling, haha.)
- It also comes in gray!
Striped top
Love this thing! Pairing black and white stripes with camel is such a classic look, and I’d say I wear this combo at least three times per week, whether with this cape, a camel sweater, or a camel blazer/coat. This particular striped top has subtle balloon sleeves, which makes it look a bit fancier than other striped tops I own. It runs on the longer side, but I might recommend going up a size. Here’s a more casual version.
Tassel flats
Two days in a row on the blog?! I hope this indicates how often I’ve been wearing these adorable tasseled flats. Again, Ann Taylor is killing it with the shoes this year. So many bows and tassels! Great job, guys. In terms of comfort, I walked all over Central Park in these and didn’t have any trouble. :) I normally wear a 7.5 in flats, but went down to a 7 because the salesperson told me that that I looked like I was slipping out of the backs, and because the shoes are known to stretch. Glad I did! The 7 is perfect. Other shoe picks are above!
