Hi, Friends! The Larkins are flying to New York today, and we’re so excited. We’re going because my family is having a big celebration for Grammie’s 85th–happy birthday, Gram!–but we’ve been feeling a little homesick for NYC lately so we decided to stay a full week.
We worked extra hard over the last few days to prepare for the trip, and I think it’s going to pay off! Up until recently, traveling was really hard and stressful for us because it was nearly impossible to get ahead before embarking. We’d still do the work, but we’d sacrifice sleep for it, and I think everyone can agree that traveling on no sleep is the pits, especially when you have a toddler in tow. ;) Now, though, we’re ACTUALLY able to get it all done beforehand. (Because of this. Thank you, Mitch!) No major projects to submit while we’re there; no blog posts to write. We’ll be on autopilot!
Anyway, I LOVED putting together yesterday’s post on Emma’s fall wardrobe. So today I thought I’d share a mommy-and-me look.
I know, I know. It’s kind of ridiculous. And before I became a mother, I definitely said I wouldn’t be that mom who does the whole matchy-matchy thing with her kid. But turns out that I’m totally that mom. We don’t wear the exact same thing on the reg, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t dress Emma in outfits that complement mine… like, every day. 🙈
But let’s get to today’s outfits:
American flag sweaters
Gah! I’ve had my American flag sweater for years, and I knew this toddler version was a must for the fall this year. A bit of sizing advice: the women’s sweater runs small. I’m wearing a medium here, and it’s just right. It’s short, but I often pair it with a navy gingham shirt which adds some length. Emma is wearing the “24 months” size, which is perfect. (Mind you, though, she’s only 14 months. She’s big for her age, though.) I do really love the men’s version for Mitch, but one thing at a time. ;) Oh! And there’s an American flag sweater for Noodle, too! Potential Christmas card photo?! (Going to try REALLY hard this year to actually get ’em in the mail…)
And don’t even get me started on the Polo Bear stuff…
The best leather tote (Only $48!)
I recently decided to retire my beloved Madewell tote for a while because motherhood was starting to take its toll on it. I’m now using this reversible tote, which is super soft and carries SO MUCH. (It’s my go-to bag for work, and it doubles as a baby bag.) It’s also only $48, so I’m not a psychopath about it… and it fits perfectly under the stroller. I get so many compliments on it and I couldn’t recommend it more!
AG legging jeans
I’ve been living in these jeans over the last few months, and they remain a favorite for fall. You can see all my favorite skinny jeans here, but AG’s legging jeans (see all washes here) are currently my fave. They fit like a glove and have just the right amount of stretch in ’em yet don’t bag throughout the day. For sizing purposes, I’m wearing a 25 here.
Flat leather booties
I have last year’s version, but the newer pair is super close! I wear these when I know I’ll be doing a ton of walking or playing in sandboxes and on jungle gyms. These days, I just keep them by the front door and slip ’em on when I’m running out somewhere.
Barbour Beadnell
The Barbour Beadnell is my favorite jacket for fall, and I also love the polar quilted version, which is a lot warmer but features the same classic Beadnell cut. (That one I often wear well into December!) If you love the original but are hoping for more warmth, I recommend the quilted vest insert. It’s AWESOME, and definitely worth the investment. For sizing purposes, I wear a U.S. size 4 in Barbour Beadnells. Here’s a full review on the original Beadnell and here’s a full review on the quilted one.
Over and out for now! Be sure to tune in tomorrow for this week’s “Recent Finds” online shopping list!
