Michael Hill Pearl Necklace, Bracelet and Earrings c/o / J.Crew Houndstooth Peplum Skirt (Runs a little big. Here’s a more affordable pair.) / Louis Vuitton Tote (Available herehere and here. Looking for an affordable brown tote? I LOVE this one!) / Tissue Turtleneck (The striped one is great, too.) / Emma’s Dress and Mary Janes

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I know I touched upon it in this recent post. But I grow closer with friends and family during the fall season. It’s undoubtedly because traveling tapers off, and suddenly we’re home and able to spend quality time with those we love. And that’s something I want to take into consideration next spring, when we start filling up the summer calendar: live summer like it’s fall.

Last weekend was the best. It was “plans-free,” and we spent entire days just bouncing around Lincoln Park, seeing friends and just being together. We showed Emma all the Halloween decorations; we played in the leaves; and we stopped in at local restaurants, stores, and coffee shops… and–okay–a wine bar. It was amazing. Anyone else completely in love with the sense of “togetherness” that this season brings?

These photos were snapped during one of those perfect days. Oh! And I’m SO excited about the pearl earrings, bracelet and necklace you see. Everything’s from Michael Hill Jewelers, which is one of my favorite local jewelry stores, btw!

I wear pearl earrings on an almost-daily basis, but this is my first pair of real pearl earrings. (Gasp, right?!) I’m so impressed. I have very small earlobes and my holes are sadly almost through… but these are perfect. They’re big enough that they make a statement, yet light enough that they do zero damage to my ears. Another great thing about these pearls is that they aren’t perfectly round–they’re actually very slightly smushed giving them that timeless yet sophisticated look that I love! I’m also crazy about the matching necklace and bracelet, which both feature 10-karat gold spacers. While they’d obviously look amazing with dressy outfits, I love how they instantly elevate more casual ones. (Added bonus? They’re priced very reasonably!)

Michael Hill Jewelers is a New Zealand-based company founded by Sir–yes, Sir!–Michael Hill, who began his career following in his father’s footsteps as a watchmaker. About a decade ago, the company came to the U.S., and now it has several locations in New York, Chicago and Minneapolis. While I obviously love the pearl collection, Michael Hill also carries a fantastic selection of engagement and wedding rings, collection pieces, watches and charms designed by a team of in-house master craftsmen who put passion into every detail. Good to remember as the holidays approach! 😉

Before I go, I should mention that if you’re in Chicago over the next week, definitely check out Fremont Street in Lincoln Park for the best Halloween decorations. And get ready for a post on our costumes, haha, which I’ll hopefully get up on the blog in time for October 31st. We’re goin’ all out this year!

Have a great day, guys!
