On Saturday, Mitch and I left the city for Bucks County, Pennsylvania to visit my parents, brother and grandmother.

A quick shout out goes to Grammie! Grammie is awesome. First of all, she gives the best hugs ever. She makes killer brownies, and she’s incredibly stylish. (She definitely won “best dressed” at our wedding.) Grammie’s also my most loyal reader. ;) Love you to pieces, Gram!

But back to the weekend. I’m thankful that my parents live so close to New York City. Pennsylvania sounds far, but the house is just across the river from the Trenton/Princeton area. It’s really not that bad. ;) My dad actually commutes to New York City every day! I’m lucky that I can see him after work in Manhattan on the weekdays, and I can also drive home to visit the parental figures on the weekends.

Anyway, when Mitch and I arrived in Pennsylvania, I played with Reilly, my beloved (and kind of blind) black labrador for a while, and then my parents, Mitch and I went out to lunch in Peddler’s Village, a quaint little shopping district in Historic Bucks County. After lunch, we shopped… and sniffed way too many candles. (Both my father and husband have candle obsessions. Don’t ask. ;))

That night, my mom made one of her best dishes–steak tidbits on garlic bread–and we had her famous birthday cake! And how adorable are my parents? They gave Mitch and me matching monogrammed duffle bags! So cute. They also gave Mitch new Sperrys, and they gave me dachshund loafers and a dachshund iPhone case. (I know. I have probs.) Talk about a thoughtful mother. (And father. I know you had a lot to do with that, Dad. Hehe.) LOVE YOU, parents! Thank you for such an amazing weekend!
