One of my absolute favorite children’s brands is Janie and Jack. (Use code “KELLY20” to take 20 percent off your order now through 8/31!) Their collections are preppy and downright adorable, and the quality is so fantastic that everything I’ve ever purchased from the company for Emma has been saved for Lucy. I know I talk about this all the time, but before I became a mother, I’m not sure I saw the value in buying high-quality children’s clothing. Now, though, it’s one of my best (very simple) mom hacks. Buy quality (and one or two sizes up) and it’ll last a long time–even longer if there’s a sibling to pass it down to!–thus saving me time and money as well. It also reduces consumption and clutter because we own less!
For example, the sweater dress that Emma’s wearing in these photos? It’s a size six, which means we’ll likely get three years’ wear out of it, and then another three years’ wear out of it when it’s passed down to Lucy. Similarly, I went for a larger size with Lucy’s dress so that she’ll be able to wear it next summer as well. The best.
Btw: Here’s a Tiny Emma twirling in a Janie and Jack Ric Rac dress, struttin’ her stuff in Janie and Jack herringbone leggings, pretending to be a country girl in Janie and Jack riding boots, and dancing in a fluttery dress. The Larkins are long-term customers!
Anyway, we take the girls to the same park every day, and Emma was THRILLED when I told her that they could both wear their new Janie and Jack dresses this past Wednesday. (She’d been patiently waiting.) I was also thrilled when she hammed it up for me for a solid 20 minutes. 😆 So fun. Nothing I love more than photographing my smiley children!
I love these photos; I feel like a little collage would work amazingly for this year’s Christmas cards?! (Listen: I’m all about accomplishing all the holiday stuff a month or two in advance 🙈 so I can actually enjoy the season with my family!) I’m so happy that the outfits can work year-round, too. Both dresses can be worn with stockings and little sweaters or cardigans.
Janie and Jack’s new collection is the cutest. Emma’s wearing this sweet ruffled sweater dress, and Lucy in the Peter Pan collared dress brings me to tears, haha. And I’m just so blown away by all the little details, from the pearl buttons and pre-tied bow in the back so it can’t come undone and drag on the ground. The brand really does think like a mom, and I appreciate that very much! Both dresses are machine-washable as well, which gives Janie and Jack even more points because hello, 2020.

I always have something in my Janie and Jack cart, so above is what I have my eye on for the girls. And with that, here are some potential Christmas card photos. 😉
