This is what I like to call transitional fall decor. The majority of it works throughout the entirety of the season; all I need to do is pack up the blatant Halloween stuff after the 31st, and the setup works through November!

From crafts to wreathes, Walmart is such a great place to go for everything “home.” It’s a one-stop shop offering insanely competitive prices and speedy shipping, and I always know that I’ll find what I’m looking for there! And when I need decor/design help, I have some favorite Walmart-own ed brands that I can search for inspiration. (Favorites include Mainstays, Way to Celebrate and Better Homes and Gardens, in case you’re wondering!)

Okay, let’s get to the decor:

Artificial mums: This is my big DIY fall project, and as a non-crafty person, I’m very proud. 😉 These are the famous artificial mums, which obviously do not die immediately upon bringing them home like real mums enjoy doing 😜, and they provide so much great fall color. I initially tried to find pots to put them in, but decided instead to take off the green wrapping off and replace it with fabric.

Burlap: In the end, I went with burlap since it it’s tough, reminiscent of fall, and extremely affordable. I cut the burlap into large squares and simply glue-gunned it onto the plastic pots. It was really easy and only took a few minutes!

Gingham/Buffalo Plaid Ribbon: I then wrapped ribbon around each one for a preppy touch. ;) I recommended glue-gunning the ribbon into place, too.

Fall Wreath: I leave up a boxwood wreath for most of the year, but I love putting out fall and Christmas wreaths; they make me happy every time I walk through the front door. In case the one we have is sold out, I LOVE this one. And tons of other great options here!

Triple Ball Artificial Topiaries (4′ version here): Our topiaries are now available at Walmart! That’s huge. And not only are they affordable, their quality is outstanding. They were one of the first purchases I made when we moved into our home, and 2.5 years later, they still look brand new. (And we don’t take them in during our brutal Chicago winters!) They come in 5-ft and 4-ft versions.

“Hey There” Doormat: Isn’t this cute?! I skipped the kitschy Halloween door mat this year—don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll go for one next year—in favor of one we could leave out until Christmas. (LOOK AT HOW ADORABLE THIS PLAID ONE IS!)

Buffalo Check Rug (Smaller here): Huge fan of door mat layering for added dimension. While this one isn’t technically made for outdoor use, the product description says it’s made to “withstand any conditions,” which means it is—in my book, at least. ;)

Straw Bales: Funniest story about the straw. I put them out just as my father-in-law was driving up for the weekend, and he kindly reminded me that he is literally a farmer and could have just brought some up. But love my bales! 😆

Human Skeleton: This guy sits on the balcony every year and he’s always a hit! He’s posable, so Mitch made him wave this year. Next year I’d love to get a few more and have them climb up the house.

Spider Skeletons: MAN. Skeletons are all the rage this year! Human skeletons are totally necessary, haha, but you also gotta think outside the… coffin? (I tried.) While there were so many animals to choose from, I had to go with spiders, as they’re utterly terrifying to me, haha. Though these little eight-legged freaks of nature are pretty cute?!

Dachshund Skeleton: Sadly, “Boodle” is sold out—for good reason. ;) But keep an eye out because he’s restocked from time to time! Lucy absolutely adores Boodle.

Posable Furry Spiders: We’ve had these for a couple of years now and they’re so easy. Emma and I simply position them over our fall decor, and we have instant Halloween creepiness!

3D Stick-On Bats: I actually ended up using these inside this year but had to mention them since they’re such a crowd-pleaser for front doors.

3M Strips: A pro tip is buying the 3M strips to use with the bats, that way you don’t run the risk of damaging the exterior of your home!
