Poncho, Necklace (and how cute is this one?!) and Hat (love this one and this one, too!) c/o Tuckernuck / Rag & Bone Jeans (But love these and these!) / Sole Society Pumps c/o (Also have these and they’re awesome! Love these and these, too.) / Gap T-Shirt
YAWN. Between the time change and the election, I’m all out of whack. Oy. Mitch has the morning off, though, so the three of us are going out to a nice little breakfast. Mitch leaves for Vegas early Friday morning to celebrate my brother-in-law’s 30th birthday for the long weekend… so definitely soaking up as much family time as we can in the meantime!
But did I tell you?!
My mother- and sister-in-law, along with my niece, are coming into Chicago on Saturday, and we’re taking Parker and Emma to the American Girl Store to celebrate Parks’ eighth birthday. I can’t WAIT, and I kind of feel like I might be more excited than Parker is, haha. Was anyone else absolutely crazed about American Girl dolls?! Man. I loved them so, so much.
Remind me to tell you about the time my brother drew all over Samantha’s face with a green Sharpie and said, “Look! Now she’s always throwing up!”
That was special. ;)
Favorite ponchos:
Anyway, if you missed yesterday’s post, Mitch and I drove out to Barrington and Barrington Hills this past weekend to get out of the city and do some house-gawking. I’m all about the ponchos this year, as I feel like they’re awesome for warmer fall days yet equally wonderful for the indoors when it’s super chilly and you just can’t get warm. (Because let’s be serious: they’re simply glorified blankets!) This one, I know, will be a staple this fall and winter for nights out.
While I applaud and am a bit jealous of the girls who can run from bar to bar without jackets during Chicago winters, I’ll always be the girl in a cozy sweater, thick jeans, sturdy boots and the mother of all puffer jackets. Isn’t it nice, though, that the poncho totally has a dressed-up feel when paired with pumps and a long necklace?! (I’ve been swooning over that Julie Vos number for years now, and it’s just as magical as I thought it would be!)
Okay, guys. Over and out. I need all the coffee today. ;)

This outfit is so cute, Kelly! And yes to the American Girl dolls, I spent ALL my money when I was younger saving up for them haha. They just opened a store here in Charlotte a few years ago and I totally wish it was here when I was younger!

Ah American Girl Dolls!!! I have to say, I am so jealous you get to go to the store and experience that with little girls. My mom still has mine perfectly packed away in case I ever have a little girl of my own. I had Samantha and Molly!
PS: Emma is arguably one of the cutest babies I have EVER seen. She could be the new Gerber baby. For real.
Love your necklace.

Your Julie Vos has been on my wish list for a long time and is finally making it onto my Christmas list. Please include a link when you post Black Friday sales if this qualifies so I can click-thru your site to order!
I love your writing Kelly! The lighting in these shots is to spectacular. Gorgeous photos!

You look so gorgeous! And I cannot wait to take our little one to the American Girl store, I will probably be more excited than her haha.

First of all I am super jealous that this hat looks adorable on you…because I’m still trying to get used to wearing hats for Chicago winters and it is not a pretty sight haha. But I’m WAY more jealous of the American Girl doll store…I’m really hoping in a couple years my niece will want to go so that I have an excuse to take her!
