Today, I’m teaming up with my friends at Zappos.com to honor women who are defining new paths for themselves… as well as to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Keds, a brand that supports the many hats these women wear and the people they aspire to become.

Looking at my career path, I’ve had an interesting one. First, reporter. Then editor. Then teacher. Then… I don’t even know what to call this. ;)

Freelancer/blogger/photographer/writer? One thing’s for sure, though: I definitely need shoes that empower me to juggle all the hats I wear on a daily basis. Sure, I’m a big fan of heels, but they’re usually just tucked into my bag for when I need ’em. More often than not, it’s comfortable kicks that truly get me through my busy days.

Like my Keds. I’ve actually been wearing Keds since I was a kid–I mean, who hasn’t?–and I love that they’re classic, timeless shoes worn by some of my favorite style and fashion icons. (If Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. wore ’em, they’re definitely legit!) This time around, I went with the signature Champion Keds style (in bright red), which has carried the blue label for 85 years.

The sneakers, re-engineered with subtle changes to make your feet look and feel great, are truly show-stoppers. Whenever I wear them, I get countless “cute shoes!” comments… which, hey: definitely makes my day. ;) They’re also incredibly comfortable. They don’t rub at ALL, and their breathable canvas uppers prevent my feet from sweating. (I think I could totally go sans socks, but I typically wear these guys, as you can’t see ’em.)

Tip: Order your actual size in the signature Champion Keds style, as they run TTS. That said, if you get your size wrong, Zappos.com has amazing customer service! (Shipping is fast and free, and the company offers a 365-day return policy.) I actually ordered the wrong pair on the first go-around, and the exchange process was quick and easy. And the customer service person I spoke with was so nice.

In keeping with the idea that Keds are classics, I’m wearing them with one of my most tried-and-true outfits today: white jeansstripes, and a navy blazer. Whenever I’m in a rush or have no idea what to wear, I fall back on this look, as it’s never failed me. ;) I especially love how the Keds make the whole ensemble, though! How have I survived without red sneaks for this long?!

Off to accomplish today’s list of goals…

I’m hearing the straps (they slip off shoulder)
are a problem on that bag….do they bother you??

    • I’ve heard people say that, too, but no — mine don’t slip! And I have teeny shoulders, too.

I think the only time they would slip is if absolutely nothing is in the bag, weighing it down. It’s INCREDIBLY light — kind of like how light the little Patagonia puffer jackets are. :)

      Hope this helps!!
