Congratulations to Maggie S. for winning this giveaway!
Friends! L.L.Bean is having an awesome sale today.
Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only. (Ah-mah-zing, especially since Christmas is only a few weeks away.) Today’s blog post is all about my absolute favorite L.L.Bean stuff: the products I swear by!
Before we get to that, though, I’m excited to announce that I’m launching something I’m calling “12 Days of Giveaways.” I kind of feel like that requires no further explanation 😂, but yes: they’ll occur between now and Christmas, and the details of each giveaway will appear in blog posts and/or on Instagram. (So definitely follow along on both platforms!) Some of the products have been gifted by companies I’ve worked with in the past, and others have just been picked out by yours truly. (Like today’s.) We’re actually hosting the second giveaway in today’s second blog post, so be sure to check that out, too!
Here’s how you can enter to win today’s giveaway: a new pair of Bean Boots. (Again, any pair you’d like!) As always, simply:
- Leave a comment in the comment section below. You can say whatever you’d like, as long as it’s PG and relatively friendly. You can certainly talk about L.L.Bean, but randomness is also encouraged. I personally love scrolling through and reading entertaining comment threads, and from the feedback you’ve given me about these giveaways, it would seem that you do, too! :)
- Be sure to leave your e-mail address in the following non-spammy format: kelly [at] gmail [dot] com.
- Enter via Instagram for a bonus entry. Find the post featuring the above photo, “like” it, and leave a comment in the comment section!
A random winner will be announced and contacted on Monday. Good luck! Edit: Congratulations to Maggie S. for winning this giveaway!
But let’s get to my favorite L.L.Bean products:
Shearling-Lined Bean Boots
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
These are my favorite Bean Boots. I can’t recommend them enough. They’re unbelievably warm–even as warm as my Sorels!–and they get me through the toughest Chicago winters. Yes, they’re backordered right now, but the wait time is VERY short considering what it normally is. I’d pounce now! Winter is long. *Sniffle.*
The most important part about buying Bean Boots, though, is getting a pair with tumbled leather. SO much more comfortable than other pairs, and they require zero break-in time.
Sizing for Bean Boots: Half sizes, go down a half size. (For example, I normally wear a size 7.5, so I ordered the 7. They’re perfect!) Whole sizes, go down an entire size. (For example, if I normally wear an 8, I would order the 7.) Seems crazy, but this sizing info is spot-on.
Btw: Here’s my guide to buying Bean Boots, and above are a few of my favorite pairs.
Boat and Tote, Zip-Top
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
We could not survive parenthood without this thing. I had a small one growing up, but L.L.Bean sent us the size large a couple of years ago and it quickly became a travel staple. It goes everywhere with us!
We now have the size large with long handles, and it holds a TON–everything Emma could possibly need for a flight–and fits under a plane seat. The long handles are super important; without them, it’s kind of uncomfortable to carry it on my shoulder. I should also mention that we throw ours in the washing machine often, and then dry it on low for about 15 minutes. (Couldn’t own the tote if this wasn’t possible because we’re hot messes.) Comes out PERFECT.
The Boat and Tote also makes for a great (and affordable) gift. I got my Grammie one last year, with “Great Gram” embroidered on it. It was a big hit!
Mountain Pile Fleece Vest
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
This thing is AMAZING, and I think it’s one of L.L.Bean’s best-kept secrets. I get so many compliments when I wear mine! The one thing I’ll say is that it runs large. I would recommend going one size down, if not two.
Sweater Quarter Pullover
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
This is one of my favorite pullovers. I like it better than my Patagonia Quarter-Zip, since not as many people have the Bean version. The Bean one is also lined with a fuzzy fleece material, making it EXTRA cozy. Sizing: I went up one size in this and it’s great. It’s a little roomy, but that’s what I was going for. Don’t think it would be as comfy if I’d gone with my regular size!
Quilted Quarter-Zip Pullover
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
Wear this one all the time, too. Love that leather pull! It runs big. I sized down to an XS (I normally prefer my tops and sweaters in a size small) and very happy with that.
Camp Socks
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
If you have Bean Boots, you NEED camp socks. Totally completes the look! ;)
Duffle Coat
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
L.L.Bean sent me this coat this year, and I’m in love. It’s PERFECT. A coat you’ll have for the rest of your life. It’s well made and features a quilted liner for extra warmth, and it has great pockets. It doesn’t come in a size 2 or 0, but I got the size 4 and it’s not too big! Large enough to wear a sweater underneath it, but not so large that it looks like I’m swimming in it.
Fisherman Sweater
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
This is my favorite fisherman sweater that L.L.Bean carries. I find it to be way more flattering than the others. It’s also softer! Looks great on its own or with a flannel underneath.
Flannel Shirt, Slightly Fitted
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
These are my go-to flannel shirts. The key is getting the slightly fitted ones as they have a little shape to ’em. (They other version looked like a tent on me.) That said, the slightly fitted ones do run large, and I highly recommend going down a size. This shirt is my go-to weekend shirt during the winter. It’s soft yet substantial and therefore very warm!
Wicked Good Mocs
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
My parents gave me these for Christmas a few winters ago and I’ve never looked back. They’re by far the warmest slippers I’ve ever owned, and I couldn’t live in Chicago without them. ;)
Lodge Boots
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
I don’t have these, but they’re on my xmas list. Don’t they look amazing?! Here’s the solid suede pair as well as the leather pair. Thinking the leather would hold up the best, but the cable-knit is too cute to pass up.
Cotton Rag Sweater
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
I wear this sweater year-round! It’s a great everyday sweater, and I love how it hangs. I went one size up.
Fleece Pullover
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
I don’t have this, but it’s on my wish list! Looks SO cozy for the winter, and it’d make a great gift.
Bean Boot Keychains
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
Three come in a pack! Perfect stocking stuffers.
Fair Isle Sweater
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
I have this sweater in blue, but I LOVE it in green. Reminds me of something my mom wore in her 20s. :) That lady has always had timeless style!
Fireside Socks
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
Don’t have these either, but I imagine they’d look really cute paired with leggings while sitting around the tree on Christmas morning. :)
Classic Down Vest
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
A good solid navy vest is hard to find.
Norwegian Bird’s Eye Sweater
**Code “BEAN15” will get you 15 percent off your full-priced order today only!
LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Of course, it’s pretty pricey for a sweater. But with the discount code, it’s a little easier to stomach.
Would love a pair of warm boots to keep my toes from freezing this year
Hannajportland [at] gmail [.] com
Which would you pick to buy again L L bean boots with shealing or the sorrel riding boots? Which are more comfortable to walk in?
I have been eyeing those shearling boots for the past year! They look incredibly cozy !! All the heart eyes ….

I need more L.L. Bean like a hole in my head– as is often the case wearing head to tow Bean today. (Already took advantage of the ‘secret’ sale!) Wearing Bean boots now but would love the rubber moc version as well!
Wearing the quarter zip sweater fleece in that sailcloth color from your post today. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be to not have the big logo patch on the front (otherwise it would be a bit easier to slightly dress up.) Also many of the other colors have other colors on the trim.

When I was little if I needed to go outside in the snow for something but didn’t want to go to the trouble of putting on my boots I’d slip on my Dad’s big Bean boots and clomp out the door. As a fully grown woman, I did it last time I was home and got snow in them. He said it’s time for me to get my own :)
cait.ross [at] gmail [dawt] com
You are so sweet to do this giveaway! As a nurse and mom who is always caring for others it would be amazing to win these boots for my tired feet!! Happy Holidays! JPotts84 (at) gmail (dot) com

Would love a pair for Buffalo winters that I can more easily get on and off than my Sorels, especially with my 4th month old!

I just watched your story about finding a good doctor and know how you feel!! When I had my son 6 years ago, I started my prenatal care on a Marine Corps base and was TERRIFIED because the odds of you having the same doctor the whole way through was slim and I just heard so many horror stories. My husband at the time had deployed and I was able to go home with family.. I ended up off base with a WONDERFUL OBGYN who made the whole birthing experience a night and day difference. Which made me feel that much better because I ended up having an emergency C-section. So anyway, different circumstances but I definitely know what you mean about having a doctor your happy with, especially for such an important time!! P.S. I absolutely LOVE every item you’ve linked in this post. Literally the essentials for the coziest New England-Style winter, ever! tiffanyr (dot) mann (at) outlook (dot) com
Been looking at these boots for a long time! Haven’t pulled trigger as I have a shearling pair of uggs but these are WAY cuter!

I live in Nashville where it barely snows in the winter. What we do get is a lot of ice. Doesn’t matter. I’m determined to live my best native East Coaster life and wear Bean Boots all winter. Clomping around in 40° rain like a champ.
LL Bean Duck Boots are a survival piece for New England winters! bozmina [at] gmail [.] com
Do you know about the huge boot outside the LL Bean store in Maine that was stolen and then randomly returned one day? One of my favorite Maine stories as I’m from the area.

mckiek (at) aol (dot) com
So a little story: I grew up in Texas, so most of my life was spent not having any idea what Bean boots were. When I moved to Indiana for college, all of the sudden as soon as it started getting cold, all of these amazing boots started walking around campus. After stalking boots for a few weeks, I decided I HAD to have Bean Boots. They were so cute, so stylish. They went straight on my Christmas list that year. When Christmas came, my mom had to inform me that the sold out before she had a chance to order. I was so sad to make due with an off brand pair. To this day, I’ve still never gotten the original pair I wanted all those years ago. Kelly, this would be awesome help! alexgplag[@]gmail[.]com
This is the best contest (and most practical)! Since #winteriscoming in the North East, I’d love to have a new pair of Bean Boots to retire my old pair – from before college! Especially when I take my mini doxie, Alfie, our for walks, I need to make sure I don’t slip, so LL Bean footwear is pretty much a must. My email is aliana [.] heffernan [@] Gmail [.] com
They remind me of when I was a kid and we always had them for winter boots we would put them on and walk to school, and they never seemed to get destroyed lol.
ronamorris2712(at)gmail(dot)com
I’ve been eyeing these for the past couple years…fingers crossed for a new pair!! LL bean is as classic as it gets.
Love all things L.L. Bean! I’ve been thinking about buying another pair of the shearling lined boots to wear in Chicago (since it’s already so cold!)
maggieoprep[at]gmail[dot]com
Cute boots! margoroyle [at] gmail [dot] com
Ahhh I was just looking at Bean boots for myself and my hubs since we are moving to colder climates! I may have to sneakily order him some while they are on sale.
kait [dot] oglesby [at] gmail [dot] com
Merry Christmas! Love these boots !!!
These boots look so cozy on the inside! These would be so perfect for winter travel!
courtneyhwilson1 [at] gmail [dot] com
I would love a pair of boots for the cold winters in Wisconsin! ❄️
cjgarvens [at] gmail [dot] com
I don’t wear my bean boots often in Georgia, but I always pack them when visiting my parents in the mountains of North Carolina during winter break. I was going to rush home tonight to help them pick out a tree, but a snow storm is on its way in and with a final exam for one of my college courses being on Monday, there was no way I’d make it out in time. Guess I’ll just skip the snow this winter!
Omg… in love with the fleece vest with a flannel shirt and the fair aisle sweater and the bird’s eye sweater and and and… oh, and the boots!!!
anothertry99 [at] yahoo dot com
Hoping to get bean boots to help survive the cold Chicago winter!! Also tell Noodle I say hey ❤️

Aliciamizell [at] gmail [dot] com
Wondering if those keychain boots would fit noodle (or any dog) cause that would be perfect!! vzuno84 [at] gmail [dot] com.
these are perfect for winter!
At the beginning of every winter I always think back to my second winter in Chicago (the one with the big blizzard in 2011). For context I should probably share that I moved to Chicago for Grad school from sunny and snowless Orlando, Florida. Naturally, I was eager to get outside in the snow to make snow angels like I always saw on tv. Little did I know there are requirements for successfully making a snow angel. I destinctively recall leaving my apartment in Lakeview with my then roommate and finding snow drifts high enough to just touch below my knee (I’m 5’4” for reference). I was shocked by how much snow had fallen (minor compared to other years but I was a newbie so don’t judge), but still set on making that snow angel. I plopped down on the side street behind a Starbucks (because the streets were not accessible by car due to snow) and tried to make my snow angel. After feeling my body sink into the foot of snow I was barely able to move my arms more than a few inches. I gave up after 20 seconds and clumsily got up (a.k.a had roommate help pull me up because I was also dressed like Ralphie from the Christmas Story) and turned to see my masterpiece. Instead of this beautiful snow angel, I ended up with what appeared to be the old Cingular Phone logo. Although underwhelming in person I will say it’s a Chicago moment I’ll never forget. Christine [dot] charles1987 [at] gmail [dot] com.
The cozy fleece pullover looks amazing! And the bean boots keychain made me laugh out loud. My best friend and I both read your blog and if we see something super preppy or plaid we will say “that’s something Kelly would have” as if we are besties with you… lol the keychain would make the list! :)
emmy_419 (at) yahoo (dot) com
This would be perfect for my Iceland trip!! Kavodonnell(at)gmail(dot)com
Your posts are killing me!! Every time I think I don’t need to spend more money you post something adorable.
I was a bit shocked by the Chicago cold today… didn’t expect it to be so chilly. But I wore my new cheesy Hanukkah sweater to work and was surprised by it being latke day! (One of our kindergarten teachers celebrates all of the holidays with her students and one of those days they make latkes). Yay Friday!
lcrum0388 [at] gmail [dot] com
My son is learning to read and he loves the LL Bean commercials and catalogs. His name is Ben so he’s re-branded himself LL Ben. That’s what he kept thinking he saw. Sooo clearly we need to keep working on the reading but the 80’s/90’s rap fan in my LOVES it (Mama said knock you out!).
Happy Holidays, Larkin family!
rachel(dot)murray(at)comcast(dot)net
I would LOVE a pair of LL Bean boots! I’ve been eyeing everyone’s around me and am so jealous! bethanygillin [at] gmail [dot] com
I found your blog back when I first got my bean boots & it was very helpful! :) I’m glad I found it though because I love your style & following along. I live in Ohio & wear mine almost every day! But I’d love to try the lined bean boots or their slippers!
Ablair6510[at]gmail[dot]come
SO I tried on the fleece pullover recently and discovered how AMAZING it would be for nursing mamas because it zips up both sides — decided I needed it asap because of that! So comfy and functional! courtneympelfrey [at] gmail [dot] com
I live in Charleston, SC and I miss having a “real” winter (and a “real” fall)! I think the only solution is for us to swap out our houses for a few weeks (like in The Holiday!) – when you just can’t take the cold anymore, we will be happy to dig out our winter gear and take over. Deal? I’ll be looking for your keys on a Bean boot key ring in the mail!
mossjen71 [at] gmail [dot] com
Love L.L. Bean the quality is the best I would love to have a pair of duck boots I bought my first LL bean boots 7 years ago and they are like brand new. They are perfect for this New England weather. Soniadamico2012 [at] gmail [dot] com

I’ve been DYING (literally dying) for a pair of the shearling-lined Bean Boots! Warm enough for the Chicago cold but not too heavy for the amount of walking I do!
chandlelyn.wilson [at] gmail [dot] com
My LL Bean boots are from college! I’m 57yo now and could really use a new pair. Shearling lined would be lovely (my current pair aren’t lined). Of course, my college-age girls both have “new” Bean boots. Hope I’m not too late to get in on the giveaway. Love your blog/instagram Kelly (and Mitch)!

Ltn125 [at] gmail [dot] com
I have a pair of Bean boots and would like to make my fiancé a believer in them too. :) I always forget about LL Bean when I am shopping! Good reminder that they always have the classics!
I love my regular bean boots but I wish I would have gotten the lined ones because my feet are always cold!! Also, I definitely going to put that quilted pullover on my Christmas list! aluckett001[at]gmail[dot]com
Love my bean boots, the shearling lined ones look incredible though! I am headed to Grenada for Christmas, the last time I was there was about 23 years ago (I’m 30 now). The best part is that the island has MONKEYS! One of the days we were there we had gone to the outdoor market and I got a doll with seed earrings then went to get ice cream. While we were at the ice cream shop we met a guy who had taken a monkey as a pet and when the monkey saw my doll it immediately jumped onto my shoulder and started nibbling on the doll and ate one of the earrings! The whole thing was so cool I didn’t even mind lol Can’t wait to escape the cold and get back there! rebecca (dot) dennee (at) gmail (dot) com
Eyeing those shearling lines beauties!!!

LOVE the socks! Soooo cozy.
That green fair isle is gorgeous. I finally splurged on the fleece lined boots earlier this year bc of one of your posts and they are so warm. Chicago cold weather approved.

I just discovered your blog/IG account last week and I’m loving all of your content so far! I recently moved back to the Chicagoland area after living in Connecticut (Stamford) for a few years. These Bean boots will definitely keep my feet warm and dry during my commute to work into the city.

Although I live in a different climate we often travel to snow and colder areas with our two littles.. I love following your blog for fun but mom friendly advice and attire.. doesn’t hurt you used to be a teacher and I am one now! lnconger [at] yahoo [dot] com

aneicis91 [at] gmail [.] com
I would love new LL Bean boots! leeanne.cottle@gmail.com
Oh my gosh these boots are adorable! I love ll bean and Kelly in the City! Thank you for this opportunity!!
I would have to gift the boots to my husband. His current winter boots quack like ducks when they’re wet! While myself and our dog are wildly entertained by this, he probably deserves some quiet footwear. In true manly fashion, every time I offer to buy him a new pair he insists, “they’re fine!” Love him. kileykmorgan (at) gmail (.) com
All these cozy items make me want to curl up and watch Hallmark Christmas movies!

I have had mine for over 30 years, long before they were considered stylish outside of New England and, other than looking a little worse for wear, are still holding strong (although I have had them resoled a few times). Now that I’m older and not handling the cold weather as well as I used to, i think my next pair will be the shearling lines ones.
kaiyinne [at] gmail [dot] com

I’ll forever appreciate the work when I order them in the future (b/c let’s be real, I’m never making them again…at least on the same day!). I’ll have to check out LL Bean during my retail therapy! Can’t describe my love of bean boots enough! I’m from Maine and used to work in a bakery next to the main L.L.Bean store (that is open 24/7/365!) throughout my college years. I’d open at 6AM and have a line of bean employees waiting for doughnuts every morning. Some of the best Mainers, best customers, and best people you could ask for!
