J.Crew Navy Blazer (I also recommend the Olivia Moon one! It’s very cozy, since it’s a knit material.) / 1901 Ringer Tee / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
Aaaaaand we’re back with more coverage on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018! I published Dressing Room Stories Part I on Friday, and this is Part II. (Honestly, I think this is my best one yet! I tried really hard to feature as many products as possible without burning out. 😂) Also, here is my ultimate guide to shopping the sale.
What I’m wearing: In these photos, I’m either wearing the Rag & Bone skinny jeans that are part of the sale or this pair of Hudson skinny jeans, which aren’t on sale but totally worth the splurge. Both pairs fit like a glove, are super soft, don’t sag throughout the day, and are fitted through the calf and ankle for a polished look. (I’m wearing a size 25 in both.) I also love this pair of sale jeans from AG, although they probably won’t be restocked until Public Access starts. (FYI: I know designer denim is pricey, but I’ve found that it last so long and therefore I end up spending less. Especially when purchased during the sale. Just my two cents!) You can see ALL the denim I tried on at Nordstrom in this post.
Sizing: For sizing purposes only, I’m between 5’4 and 5’5, and normally somewhere around 105 – 110 pounds. I like my jeans tight and my tops on the looser side, and I like mid-rise and low-rise denim over high-rise. I wear a size 25 in designer denim, and typically order tops and sweaters in a size small. Again, you can see ALL the denim I tried on at Nordstrom in this post.
And just a reminder: Today is your last chance to enter to win the $250. (In cash. Because cash is better than gift cards. Like, what if you really want to spend the $250 on a year’s supply of gummy bears? I want to support you in that. 😂) To enter, simply comment on this blog post in the comment section below. Be sure to leave your email in the following non-spammy format so I can get in touch with you: name [at] domain [dot] com. Update: Congrats to Maddie P. for winning the giveaway!
One-Size-Fits-All Duster Cardigan (Only $65.90!) / Hudson Skinny Jeans (But these Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans are VERY similar and part of the sale!) / J.Crew Camisole / Everlane Sandals (Here are the best brown sandals that are part of the sale, though!) / Tuckernuck Earrings
Treasure & Bond Duster Cardigan review: SO SOFT! A must-have. I tried on a bunch of cardigans, and this was among my faves. I also love that when you buy Treasure & Bond, Nordstrom donates 2.5 percent of net sales to organizations that work to empower youth.
Sizing: It’s one-size-fits-all, which is awesome. I’m on the smaller side, and didn’t feel like it was too big, either.
Cashmere Vest (Under $100!) / Hudson Skinny Jeans (But these Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans are VERY similar and part of the sale!) / J.Crew Camisole / Everlane Sandals (Here are the best brown sandals that are part of the sale, though!) / Tuckernuck Earrings
Halogen Cashmere Vest review: Loved so much that it came home with me! Definitely looks bizarre while wearing a camisole, haha, but I know this is going to be amazing over button-down shirts in the fall. :)
Sizing: Again, one-size-fits-all, which makes deciding on a size very easy. Fits sizes 0-16, too!
Ribbed Cashmere Wrap — And LOVE this oversized scarf, which I couldn’t find in-store. / Tuckernuck Earrings
Halogen Ribbed Cashmere Wrap review: I’m laughing at this now, as I totes thought it was a scarf. ;) But I guess this proves that it can be worn as both a wrap and a scarf. 😂
Sizing: Again, one size-fits-all. Great holiday gift!
Striped Cuff Shirt / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans / Sale Version of the Tory Burch Pumps (And here are the flats!) / Tuckernuck Earrings / Gingham Phone Case
Treasure & Bond Striped Cuff Shirt review: So cute! It’s made of rayon, so it falls very nicely and doesn’t seem to wrinkle that much. (As a mom, one side of me seems to always be terribly wrinkled, as Emma is often on my hip.) I’m obviously a huge fan of striped shirts, but I love that this one lacks the traditional button-down look and has a v-neck and cute tie sleeves. Great for the office!
Sizing: I would say that it runs slightly big. I’m wearing a size small here, and while it totally works, I’d probably go down to an XS.
Navy Gingham Dress / Sale Version of the Tory Burch Pumps (And here are the flats!) / Tuckernuck Earrings / Gingham Phone Case
Madewell Navy Gingham Dress review: I love this one, because it can be worn now well into the fall! As you can see, it’s a little on the shorter side, but not too bad! Very comfy, and I love the ruffled edging. And the fact that it’s navy!
Sizing: I’m wearing a small here, but I’d probably go down to an XS. Runs slightly large.
Thread & Supply Wubby Pullover review: GET IT. This thing sells out very quickly every year, and it’s so nice that it’s included in the sale again. I get more questions about this pullover than any other piece of fall clothing I own, and I think that’s because it looks amazingly cozy and makes a little statement. ;) It’s super soft, as it looks… and while it says dry-clean only, I’ve machine-washed it, and it came out great.
Sizing: I’m wearing a small here! (It runs big, and small is the smallest size is comes in.) I won’t lie: it’s on the poofier side, haha, but if you wear it with skinny jeans or leggings, it looks AMAZING!
Lace Romper / This Socialite Dress is worth looking into!
Socialite Lace Romper review: I’m including this one for comedic effect. Because I totes thought this was a tunic-like top and was about to bring it into the changing room until I realized NOPE. It’s a romper. If you’re young, I’d say it would be great for you! But not for this girl, hahaha. Love this Socialite dress, though. Perfect for the weekend.
Sizing: I have no idea. :) I would assume it runs small.
Chunky Cable-Knit Throw with Pom Poms
Nordstrom Throw review: I LOVE these blankets. I have a similar one from last year that has become the family’s favorite. They look like they’d fall apart after a few months, but they really don’t. This one is probably my top pick because of the pom poms, but I also love this one, this one and this one.
Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Cardigan (Under $90!) / Amazon Dress (LOVE THIS THING. It’s only $28, and it’s beyond flattering. It also features a terry material inside. Couldn’t recommend it more. Wearing a size small.) / Jack Rogers / Gingham Phone Case
Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Cardigan review: I’d heard SO much about this brand, so I had to try some of their sweaters on… and I really can’t tell you how fantastic they are. They’re softer than any cardigan I’ve ever owned, and I love how you can kind of wear it as a jacket in the fall with some dresses. Without a doubt, the coziest piece I tried on during this session.
Sizing: There are only two sizes: S/M and M/L. It runs big, so size down. I’m wearing the S/M here, and it’s definitely an oversized look.
Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Circle Cardigan (Under $80!) / Amazon Dress (LOVE THIS THING. It’s only $28, and it’s beyond flattering. It also features a terry material inside. Couldn’t recommend it more. Wearing a size small.) / Jack Rogers / Gingham Phone Case
Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Circle Cardigan review: This one is a little less puffy and fuzzy. I liked it just as much–especially when I scrunched up the sleeves a little. Btw: Barefoot Dreams’ Coastal Hooded Cardigan is also included in the sale.
Sizing: Size down, but if your size is sold out, try the next size up, as it’s intended to look oversized. It comes in XS/S, M and L/XL. I’m wearing the medium here, and I think it looks good!
Red Skirt / Bow Top / Gingham Phone Case
1901 Red Skirt review: Okay. Paired together, the skirt and bow top do not look good. FAIL. 😂 But apart, they’re both super cute. So let’s start with the skirt. Wouldn’t it be perfect for the fall AND holidays?! I love that it has pockets and that it’s made out of a neoprene material, which makes it wrinkle-resistant.
Sizing: I could only find a size 4, so that’s what you see here! Personally, I would probably try the size 2 as well, but the size 4 totally works, too!
Bow Top / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
1901 Bow Top review: CUTE! Of course, I would spend more time making the bow look a bit less messy (perhaps steam it or iron it?) but what a statement top. Love those poofy sleeves, too!
Sizing: Wearing a size small here and I think it’s perfect. Again, I like my tops on the slightly looser side because I tend to wear jeans that are plastered to my body. ;) But I’d say it runs TTS!
1901 Ringer Tee / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
1901 Ringer Tee review: This is a MUST. It’ll look great with jeans, under blazers, or tucked into skirts. 1901 is one of my favorite brands and the quality is always great.
Sizing: I found that it ran a little small. I’m wearing a size small here and it’s just right.
J.Crew Navy Blazer review: This came home with me! One of my favorite J.Crew blazers of all time because it doesn’t have shoulder pads. (HATE shoulder pads!) I love the navy and the pink.
Sizing: I always go up one size in J.Crew blazers–to a size 2–and I did the same with this one.
Halogen Cashmere Tie-Hem Sweater
Halogen Cashmere Tie-Hem Sweater review: It’s back! Last year’s review: Can’t say more about this sweater! I bought it when I was out in Denver, and I fell head over heels in love with it. The price is incredible for cashmere, and I adore the little bows at the sides. It comes in so many great colors, too.
Sizing: This is my sizing info from last year: I’m wearing a size small here. I’m typically a size 0/XS, but I always order sweaters in a size up for coziness. So if you’re like me, order one size up… but if you like things a bit more form-fitting, go with your regular size.
Halogen Scalloped Sweater review: Another one that’s back! Isn’t it SO CUTE? I wore this a ton last year, and it’s still in my closet which means I really love it. ;)
Sizing: I’d say it runs a little small. I’m wearing a small here, and I wish I’d gone with a medium.
Caslon Hooded Cardigan review: Another one that’s back. Last year’s review: Definitely my favorite sweater purchase. I need to stop buying cardigans, but this one was just so soft! And I love the cinching at the waist, which gives it more definition… and the hood and pockets! Come on. Couldn’t say no. ;)
Sizing: Caslon cardigans are pretty generous, so I’m wearing a size XS here, which is what I’d normally order in a longer cardigan.
Halogen Lace Top (Instead, I would recommend this one, which has a similar look but isn’t see-through.) / Gingham Phone Case
Halogen Lace Top review: BOOOOO. This was the one thing I tried on that I really didn’t like, because the lace parts are see-through! This is a great alternative, though.
Sizing: I’m wearing an XS here and it’s the right size.
Madewell Top (Under $32!) / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
Madewell Tie-Back Top review: LOVED THIS ONE. Didn’t think I would, assuming that my bra would be visible from the back and I NEVER go braless. However, it doesn’t… and I love the bow at the bottom! I would also recommend the Madewell Ryder Cardigan, loafer mules, booties, and bucket bag.
Sizing: I went with the size medium since it’s a little boxy and I didn’t want my stomach to show. I don’t think it looks too big; just right!
Halogen Ruffle-Neck Pullover Sweater / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
Halogen Ruffle-Neck Pullover Sweater review: I think this was my favorite sweater from this try-on session. Look at the ruffled neck! It’s so cute. Also not itchy at all. I’m not wearing anything underneath.
Sizing: I’m wearing a size medium here because it’s all I could find, but would have preferred a size small.
CeCe Scalloped Top (Here’s the dress.) / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
CeCe Scalloped Top review: PERFECT for the office. Love the material and the v-neck style. Here’s the dress version! Btw: CeCe has an amazing selection in this year’s sale. I love this polka dot dress and this crepe blouse.
Sizing: I’m wearing a size small here. I’d say it runs TTS.
Gibson Cozy Fleece Pullover / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
Gibson Cozy Fleece Pullover review: Gibson Cozy Fleece is the BEST, and I couldn’t live without it during Chicago winters. I also love this tie-back top and this skirt.
Sizing: I’m wearing a size large because that’s all they had less. I would normally order a size small in Gibson Cozy Fleece, though. But I don’t hate how the large looks!
1901 Navy Tweed Bow Jacket / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
1901 Navy Tweed Bow Jacket review: Ultimate cuteness. So timeless. And it’s navy! I’d probably wear a navy camisole underneath.
Sizing: I’m wearing a size 2 in this, which is the size I normally go with in blazers. (Extra shoulder room is always nice!)
Halogen Button-Sleeve Sweater / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
Halogen Button-Sleeve Sweater review: The buttons! So cute. I also love the ruffled-neck sweater, the scalloped edge sweater, the cashmere side-tie sweater, the cashmere RIBBED side-tie sweater, the university-looking sweater, and the varsity knit cardigan. Halogen really hit it out of the park with the sweaters!
Sizing: I’m wearing a size small here which is what I always wear in Halogen. Runs TTS.
J.Crew Funnel Neck Top / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
J.Crew Funnel Neck Top review: I actually already have this top and ADORE it. I get so many compliments on it when I wear it out. I typically wear it with white jeans, but I think it would look adorable with ponte pants for the office.
Sizing: Slightly on the larger size. I ordered mine in an XS, though I think I’m wearing the small here. (Still looks fine.)
Halogen Scalloped Trim Sweater / Rag & Bone Skinny Jeans/ Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelet / Gingham Phone Case / Jack Rogers
Halogen Scalloped Trim Sweater review: Adorable, no?! Didn’t look like much on the hanger but I love how it looks on. Comes in a ton of colors, too! The scalloped trim is adorable and love the sleeves, too.
Sizing: I’m wearing a medium here and it’s a little big. Would get it in a small. But runs TTS, in my opinion.
1901 Navy Striped Midi Dress / Sale Version of the Tory Burch Pumps (And here are the flats!) / Tuckernuck Earrings / Gingham Phone Case
1901 Navy Striped Midi Dress review: This, of course, came home with me. It’s SO me. And how about those buttons on the back?! Cutest.
Sizing: I thought I would be an XS, but I went one size up, and it looked a lot better. (I hate it when my underwear lines show!) So perhaps go up one size.
Caslon Thermal Henley Top / Sale Version of the Tory Burch Pumps (And here are the flats!) / Tuckernuck Earrings / Gingham Phone Case
Caslon Thermal Henley Top review: LOVE! It’s unbelievably soft, and I know I’ll be wearing it all the time this fall and winter. A great weekend shirt.
Sizing: I’m sporting a size medium here, but wish I could have found a size small. Runs TTS!
