Gray Sweater Dress (Available here, too. Wearing a small. Also love the newer striped one!) / Burberry Jacket (Here’s the other version. And LOVE this one.) / Leopard Clutch (More affordable alternatives here and here.) / Over-the-Knee Boots (Also have these and ADORE them. They’re waterproof and crazy warm! They come in suede as well. I love these and these, too, which nearly identical to the ones I’m wearing in these pics, but they’re so much more affordable.)

You know when everything seems to break at once? Like, your computer bites it and then your TV deletes all your kiddie shows and then your camera glitches out and then your cell phone stops turning on and then the thermostat decides it should be 55 degrees inside your house at all times? That’s the kind of week I had. Such silly little things–though there were more things that went awry I’m not including here 😂–but let’s just say I was ready for this one to END!

Yesterday, I worked the morning, and then Shaheen came over with Zain for a little playdate–kind of in an effort to wrap up the work week a bit early. ;) SUCH a great decision. Partially because I work from home, I struggle with knowing when to close the laptop, and I really struggle with taking time off. (Definitely didn’t struggle with those things when I worked in an office, haha!) But I’m getting better about recognizing when I need breaks. Yes, this week was one of my less productive ones, but it’s okay. Better to pull back and hit the ground running next week, right?!

Anyway, it was such a great day. We let the kids play for a while–and Mitch watched them for a few minutes so we could sneak away and take these photos. (#Bloglife) And then we switched some car seats around and drove down to the Children’s Museum on Navy Pier. Did you catch my post on inside activities for kids in Chicago?! The Children’s Museum is probably my favorite, but I have a ton of other recommendations!

Anyway, it was such a great day–filled with a lot of laughs–and a wonderful way to hit the reset button. ❤️ Again, I’m feeling incredibly lucky for my girlfriends!

Okay! On to the look:

Favorite sweater dresses

Sweater dress: IN LOVE. Sadly, I didn’t manage to get this dress (also available here) up on the blog before it sold out in most sizes, but keep checking back! I’m seeing it restocked from time to time. (I’m wearing a small here, btw.) And I’ve included a ton of other faves above. I mean, this one?! *Adds to cart.*

Burberry jacket: Yes, it’s an investment, but I’ve had mine for years and it remains a favorite. I slip the jacket on while wearing the simplest outfits–jeans and sweaters, for example–and it instantly classes up my look! I think they run a bit small. So I went up one size and it’s perfect. :) Here’s a newer version (to be honest, I don’t know the difference between the two), and I LOVE this warmer, longer version.

Over-the-knee boots: Things are warming up here! It feels amazing to kick my snow boots off and wear some real shoes. I’ve been wearing my over-the-knee boots a lot, as they help keep my legs warm when I’m wearing dresses–even if temps are in the 50s. ;) But yes: the boots are as wonderful as you might have heard, but I’ll be honest and say that if I didn’t have this blog, I wouldn’t own them, as they’re very pricey. Some great alternative include these, which I own and ADORE. They’re waterproof and crazy warm! They come in suede as well. I love these and these, too, which nearly identical to the ones I’m wearing in these pics, but they’re so much more affordable.

Leopard clutch: Another year-round staple that goes with most of my outfits. You can find more affordable alternatives here and here!
