One of the Larkin Family’s favorite holiday traditions is walking around Lincoln Park and admiring the holiday decor. People go all out; Chicago winters are hard but that garland and those twinkle lights really help with residents’ outlooks! Lately, Mitch and I have been trying to carve out a half hour or so on days when both girls are in school and do it on our own, too. We take Noodle or grab coffee on Armitage, and it’s the best way to start the day. Fresh air, uninterrupted husband/wife talks, and holiday cheer! ☺️

So today I thought I’d share some festive images from around “town” (some from 2021 and some from years past) along with a really cute and cheery Talbots look, perfect for all the upcoming festivities! Here’s what I wore on a couple of our recent walks:

Tartan Coat: Oh my! Haha—Is this not the most Holiday Kelly Coat you’ve ever seen?! It was obviously love at first sight when I spotted this on Talbots’ website, and it didn’t disappoint. The wool-blend coat is subtly holiday, and I personally think it works for both fall and winter. Growing up, my school uniform actually featured this tartan, so I have a soft spot in my heart for it! (Sizing: Forgiving. Works very well for winter layering!) If you’re looking for other options, I also love these quilted and shirt jacket versions.

Ribbed Turtleneck: Hello, easy! Because this turtleneck is made from a cotton blend, it comes out of the wash not needing ironing or steaming. It’s the perfect staple to pair with tartan holiday pieces… yet it can obviously be worn well after the holidays are over. Isn’t the ribbed cashmere version gorgeous, too?

Wide-Leg Jeans: Sure, I always love my skinny jeans. but I’m also team demi-boot and wide-leg over here, because I think they can make outfits look more interesting and trendy! One thing I’ll say about this pair is that if you’re 5’5 or under, I would consider ordering petite as the regular version’s inseam is very long. (I accidentally ordered regular, and while they still work, I think the petite would have been better! So nice that Talbots offers petite, misses and plus sizing.)

Fur-Lined Gloves: These are fantastic! I wish I could be the girl who could get away without wearing gloves, but that girl I’ll never be. ;) I’m always in need of dressier gloves, and these—with their fur trim—are stunning. Even Mitch commented on them!

Ankle Boots: These feature a soft suede material, memory foam cushioning in the footbeds, a flexible non-skid outsole, and a two-inch heel—which means I can comfortably walk miles in them around the city. :) I love the sharp buckle detailing on the sides, and the slightly pointed toe. Similar styles to check out: the Tish Suede Ankle Boots and the Tish Chain Suede Ankle Boots.
