Tea at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago

Oops. Please excuse the late post; totally fell asleep on the couch last night with Mitch because he has off today, and we treated it like a Friday night. ;) Which meant pizza, television, cookies and snuggles with Noods while we watched the snow come down. Ohhhh, March.

But I LOVE THIS BOW DRESS. (25 percent off with code “SHOPMORE”!) I bought it when I went shopping with my mom in Princeton a few weeks ago because I wasn’t fitting into most of my dresses anymore, and I really needed at least one I could wear to events. Such a good decision! It’s seriously the most comfortable and flattering dress I’ve ever owned, and the textured crepe material makes it far warmer than most little black dresses I own–perfect for the cold spell we’ve been experiencing here in Chicago. The J.Crew Presentation Dress also features a swingy A-line cut, which is great for me right now. I’m wearing my normal size, so I might suggest going down a size if you have smaller shoulders, as it’s roomier in the middle region. (But still: SO flattering.) If not, I’d go with what you normally wear!

I wore it last weekend when Maya, Mitch and I went to Easter Tea at the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago. (Where Maya took these photos, too! She’s the best. Heart you, Girl.) The tea, which is being served through March 26th from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., features sweet and savory treats such as spring vegetable tarts, asparagus bundles, hot cross buns and lemon macarons. The food is paired with a selection of freshly brewed loose leaf teas from Rare Tea Cellar, and you can even order champagne! (Which I sadly didn’t get to drink, but Maya and Mitch seemed to LOVE, haha.) We had the best time, and if you’re in Chicago for the weekend, I highly recommend stopping by the Waldorf for Easter Tea. Such a special experience!

In other news, yesterday was the worst. :( Noodle somehow got her little paws onto a package of earplugs and ate a ton of them. (I’m a light sleeper and have struggled with insomnia since college.) Had she eaten one, it probably wouldn’t have been a problem, but because we didn’t know exactly how many she’d scarfed down, the vet wanted to induce vomiting in case they expanded in her stomach and created a blockage. It was so scary, and so, so, so gross. (I feel like Old Me would have been fine with a ton of puke, but Pregnant Me almost died.) We ended up doing the whole hydrogen peroxide trick, and my poor Girlfriend threw up THIRTEEN earplugs. Needless to say, our night downtown was cancelled, and we spent the evening monitoring a sad little dachshund. She’s doing much better now, but ugh! We need a master bedroom–and night tables–STAT.

Fingers crossed the trim, board and batten, and doors go up this weekend. We need our lives back!
