Happy first birthday to our sweet, beautiful and spunky Lucy Jane–who made our family complete! (This is a day late, but we were very busy yesterday doing things like gently tapping our mermaid piñata with a random pole we found in our garage. 😜)
A quick anecdote: I was a little worried when I was pregnant with Lucy. (Who, at the time, we called “Beansprout” because we didn’t know her gender.) How could I love another child as much as I loved Emma?! It just didn’t seem possible! Spoiler: it is. Because then Lucy was placed in my arms, and it was WILD. Somehow my heart grew a zillion sizes in that moment–just as it had two years prior–and I guess I realized that hearts never actually reach capacity; they just grow and stretch and make room. And I suppose that’s what’s happening when we feel like our hearts are bursting, or like our hearts are full. They’re simply growing.
Lucy, you are our everything. You’re a little spitfire, choosing to not follow in your sister’s footsteps despite the amazing bond you share. You always make your own path and that’s AWESOME. You have a big personality and a fabulous sense of humor, you’re independent and curious but also always down for a cuddle session, and you *constantly* surprise us and leave us guessing! (So much so that we often feel like you’re intentionally messing with us. 😆 What baby scrunches up her nose at the SIGHT of a birthday cupcake? Hello?! Cake smash?!) And as much as we wish you could stay little forever, we love watching you grow and enter new stages. You’re a YEAR old! How did that happen?
Lucy, we already know that you’re going to look at life like it’s one big adventure, and we can’t wait to watch your story unfold. And wow! You’re two for two so far; both of your birthdays were QUITE memorable. 😉
Happy birthday, Goose. Your mommy and daddy love you so, so, so much!
