MacKenzie-Childs Home Decor - Kelly in the City

Tea Set / Painted Easter Eggs / Honey Bunny Pot / Trellis Easter Eggs / Pastel Egg Bouquets

Holy cuteness.

MacKenzie-Childs, famous for its handcrafted and hand-painted designs, recently sent the girls everything they needed for the perfect Easter tea party, and my heart exploded. I’m sure you’ve gathered how much I LOVE being a girl mom, but oooh-wee. 🙈 I had tears in my eyes while this was going on; it was just one of those moments, I suppose. It was also a bit nostalgic for me, as I grew up with MacKenzie-Childs in my house, too! Happy memories, for sure.

Before I share approximately one zillion photos of the magic, I should note that everything featured here is hand-molded and hand-painted. Isn’t that incredible?! I love that no two pieces are exactly alike. In a world of mass-produced goods, it’s so special. The pottery decorators even mix their own paint, resulting in slight variations of both brush strokes and colors.

MacKenzie-Childs was founded in 1983 in Upstate New York, and today, the company is headquartered on a Victorian farm overlooking Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region. The dairy barn on the property houses their production studio where all the handmade, hand-decorated pottery, furniture and furnishings are crafted by artisans… and the rest of the grounds are home to gorgeous gardens, a 15-room farmhouse furnished with MacKenzie-Childs designs, and a retail shop. It’s stunningly beautiful, and wildly impressive! The farm is also home to chickens, ducks and cows. (Fun, right?)

The story behind these Easter tea party photos:

I slipped away while the girls were eating breakfast–no one noticed I was gone 😂–and set everything up. Emma flipped out when she saw it, and that’s when the waterworks started for me, haha. She spent quite literally four hours with the new tea set, and it was the absolute cutest. (Mitch and I took turns being the guest until we finally set up her stuffed animals in the chairs. PHEW!) I think the sweetest part of the whole experience, though, was seeing the girls play together. Lucy, who’s just under a year, was certainly a bit more destructive than Emma would have liked 😉, but they passed the tea cups and saucers back and forth–and oh my goodness. That last photo.

Right now is a GREAT time to stock up on home decor, as MacKenzie-Childs is currently having a big sale! Now through April 14th, you can take 20 percent off more than 1,200 products and up to 50 percent off the clearance section. Enjoy!
