The dress code at my school is very casual, which I love. It allows me to dress comfortably take risks I wouldn’t ordinarily be able to do if I were required to wear black slacks and pencil skirts, and it allows me to dress comfortably (which is what I chose to do today ;)). Teaching in the inner city is incredibly rewarding, but at times–like during days that I teach six periods–it can be really, really exhausting. Sometimes I just need a soft pair of jeans and button-down so I’m comfortable and at my best! Whenever I dress super casual, though, I always make sure include a component that adds some “pop” to my outfit. Today, it was neon. ;)

You’re so lucky you can dress so casual often! We’re allowed one Friday a month for a dress down day. My friends and I always say that so often we look more dressy with white jeans and a blazer than we do when we’re forced to wear slacks.
P.S. Love your posters about “hooks” behind you!

Hi Renee! :)
I totally agree… when I wear slacks, I almost feel less put-together!
My students have the state test next week… I’ve completely plastered my room with posters hoping it’ll soak into their brains before the exams hehe ;)
