This post is for my mom. It’s a small way of saying thank you for coming to stay with us a couple of weeks ago and helping us on so many fronts.

Long story short, we were in a tight spot. We had a bunch of projects we were behind on, and we really needed someone to watch Emma so we could have a few full-day work sessions. And we had Danielle and Conor’s wedding that we desperately wanted to attend without a baby in tow. ;) Oh, and did I mention that the house was under construction?

Just as the tears were starting to well up in my eyes, haha, my mom graciously hopped on a flight. Thank god for moms. Am I right?!

Mom spent a couple of days with Emma while we worked. Then the two of them had a sleepover while we went to the wedding. She even told us to stay at Jess and Neal’s so we could get more than four hours’ sleep. ;) We woke up fully rested for the first time in what seemed like decades 😂, and suddenly, everything was okay. It’s pretty amazing how much better one’s situation can look after some much-needed sleep!

I love my mom so much, and so do Mitch and Emma. It’s the cutest: whenever we go home to my parents’ house back East, Mitch always chats it up with Mom for hours at the kitchen island. And Emma–who usually sees her every other month–runs straight in Grandma’s arms when she walks through the door. Oh! And Noodle. Not sure if you guys remember this post, but buying Noodle that “Fancy Cupcake” to win her over really worked. The love has definitely reached “obsession level.”

Anyway, Emma really wanted to get her grandma a gift she could give her when she arrived. And when she asked for my advice, I immediately knew where to go: Michael Hill Jewelers. ☺️ (It’s been a go-to for me since my recent discovery!)

So Emma and I had a girls’ day, and visited Michael Hill Jewelers, a New Zealand-based company founded by Sir Michael Hill. (Emma actually took these photos! Kidding, kidding. Mitch was there, too.) As I mentioned in my last post, the company came to the U.S. about a decade ago, and now it has several locations in New York, Chicago and Minneapolis. Emma and I agreed that the pearl collection was the way to for Grandma, and when we spotted this gorgeous pearl pendant necklace, we were sold. For some reason, it seemed to represent Emma perfectly. :)

By the way: Michael Hill Jewelers also carries a fantastic selection of engagement and wedding ringscollection pieceswatches and charms designed by a team of in-house master craftsmen who put passion into every detail. So many fantastic holiday gifts, chock full of sentimental meaning. ❤️

But let’s get back to giving Grandma her gift. On her last day with us, we took her out to lunch and then went to a nearby park to play. Emma pretended like she was taking a sippy cup break, and then took out the necklace. (More jokes. We handed it to her and she proceeded to open it and try to put it on herself. 🙈)

It was the cutest, though! Eventually, Emma handed it over to Grandma, and she loved it. She put it on right away, and she too thought it symbolized her relationship with Emma perfectly. So special!

Below are a few photos from our girls’ day, because I couldn’t help but snap the cuteness of Emma with the tiny Michael Hill Jewelers gift bag. Not sure if there are any other mothers of toddlers reading this, but if so, is your little girl crazy about purses and totes and shopping bags, too?! Granted, Emma’s ruined a couple of my bags by dragging them down the sidewalk when I wasn’t looking. However it sure is adorable when she hangs one in the crook of her arm and teeters around like a little lady. 😍

On a related note, I hope everyone is doing well with their holiday shopping! Mitch and I are busy working on small gifts that we can easily fit in our suitcases since we’re headed to New Orleans for Christmas to visit my brother and sister-in-law. Which means… Michael Hill Jewelers to the rescue!

Have a great weekend, Friends!
