Yellow Toggle Coat

Yellow Duffle Coat (Also love this version, which is 40 percent off with code “WALNUT” and pin: 7199. L.L. Bean’s is great, too, and it’s 25 percent off with code “25OFF.” This one from Cole Haan is such a steal, and I desperately wish this plaid one and this plaid one didn’t cost such a fortune.) / Cable-Knit Turtleneck (Also love this one, this one and this one. I have this one from French Connection and wear it all the time, and how cute is this?!) / Rag & Bone Jeans (Also obsessed with this pair!) / L.L.Bean Boots (Best boots in the world. They’re on sale, too! Use code “25OFF” to take 25 percent off your whole L.L.Bean order. Also love the black watch plaid boots and the navy boots.)

It’s official. Chicagoans are doomed. 😂

The first snow of the season took place this past Friday, November 10th. Even for Chicago, that’s crazy early!

I will say, however, that was pretty magical. Unexpected, yes, but beautiful against the colorful trees, the vast majority of which still have their leaves.

But goodness: this doesn’t mean that the upcoming winter is going to be one for the books, right? RIGHT?!

Anyway, I’m writing this in advance–work-free weekends for the win!–so let’s do the rest of this post in bullet point style. :)

  • I can’t get over this adorable duffle coat. Sadly, it seems like it’s sold out in yellow. But if you’re set on this color, here’s another one that’s pretty great AND on sale with code “WALNUT” and the pin 7199. Truth, though: my heart was set on this plaid one (which also comes in red) but I just can’t justify the cost. (😍, though, right?!) Also in love with this one from Nordstrom, which is such a steal, and while this one isn’t a toggle coat, it’s only $38 and in constant rotation for me. :)
  • How did we take these photos in the middle of the street considering we have a baby? We’d taken a walk earlier in the morning (you know, a casual 5:30 a.m. stroll because #sleepregression), but photos didn’t exactly work out as it was freezing and we had both Emma and Noodle with us. Kira came over later, though, so she looked after Emma while we hopped outside to snap some pics for today’s post. I always wonder if these little behind-the-scenes bits of info are interesting to you; I’ve been toying with the idea of writing “a day in the life” post about our family. Any interest?! (Or maybe that’s horribly boring, haha.)
  • Kira was over because we just started our second round of home renovations with her! After the first round of renovations were completed, I kind of wanted to quit and never start up again. But we took a 1.5-year break, and decided to hand over everything to Kira. Best decision we ever made. If you live in Lincoln Park and are looking to get work done, hire her. You can be as hands-on or hands-off as you like, the projects come out perfectly no matter what–like something you’d find on Pinterest! And you gain a best friend in the process. I’m going to write a whole post about her soon, but never in a million years did I think I’d ever hire an interior designer, and now I can’t imagine not having one. (Fun fact: our projects have been cheaper since hiring a designer, as Kira sticks to our budget no matter what and knows where we can save money.)
  • What projects are we undertaking? We’re closing off our staircase (for safety reasons with Emma) and installing shiplap on the wall behind the couch; we’re ripping out the carpeting on the stairs and installing hardwood; and we’re replacing our kitchen countertops, having the cabinets painted white, and installing a backsplash. I can’t believe it. Kira, thank you for making all our home projects come true, and for making all of it FUN. We’re so close to being done with this house, and it’s all because of you and your amazing eye for design! Love you.
  • Today, Mitch and I are likely in recovery mode. Last night, we attended Danielle and Conor’s reception in Chicago with Jess and Neal, and then had a sleepover with the Loftuses. <— Jess, hahaha. Love you. Here’s hoping that our husbands effectively hid our phones from us; if not, I apologize profusely for everything. And congratulations to Danielle and Conor! We love you guys and are so happy for you!
  • Today is the last day of the Nordstrom Fall Sale! Here are my favorites. Hope you nab some great products!
  • L.L.Bean is having a sale, too, and you shouldn’t miss it. Use code “25OFF” to take 25 percent off your order and get free shipping. I love my shearling-lined Bean boots, this plaid shirt, this vest, this turtleneck, this plaid scarf, this duffle coat, and this tote. (The plaid one is great, too!)
  • My mom is here! I’m ecstatic. On Friday, we had dinner with her and Tom (Kira’s husband, since Kira had a function), and last night, Mom babysat for us. (Thank you, Mom!) I’ve loved watching her with Emma, and I can’t wait for Dad to arrive tomorrow night. So good to have my parents here, and wishing more than ever that they lived here. (Hint, hint, Dad. Who are we kidding? No way that Dad will ever read this, haha!)

Over and out, Friends! Hope you’re having a great weekend!
