Okay! You may have seen this recent blog post on how the kitchen renovation is going, but here are a few new updates:
- The Home Depot plumber never showed up, so we went a couple of days without water. It wasn’t the best since we have little kids (and tons of bottles to clean), but it also wasn’t the worst! In the past, we’ve gone days without water in bathrooms. Now that’s bad. 😉 (Also, fun fact: Before I met Mitch, the water was shut off in his building in Harlem for A FULL MONTH. He told me it was “no big deal” because he just showered at the gym. Men. 😂)
- The backsplash is being installed in two weeks. We moved the whole project back a week because of our trip to New York for my grandmother’s 85th birthday, and the next available install date for the backsplash was three weeks out. But the kitchen is totally functional, so we don’t really care! (Normally, though, it seems like the backsplash is installed right after the countertops go in. That’s how it was originally scheduled for us, anyway!)
So yeah! Exciting stuff. Can’t wait to see how everything comes together once the backsplash is in, but in the meantime, I wanted to focus on a few Serena & Lily products that we’ve welcomed into the kitchen over the last few months. Teak Step Stool: This thing has changed our lives. We keep it in the powder room so Emma can use it to reach the faucet… but we also bring it out to the kitchen when she wants to help cook or decorate pumpkins with us. :) There aren’t a lot of beautiful step stools on the market, but this is one of them! I don’t even mind if it gets left out; it’s just so pretty! Love functional pieces that also complement a space.
Seaview Runner: I have the rectangular version of this rug in my office, and I love it! It’s actually an indoor/outdoor rug, so it’s great for kids and pets. But it’s also SO SOFT. (Rare with indoor/outdoor rugs!) I do think, though, that I’m going to move it up to the staircase landing, as it’s a little too long for the kitchen. Thoughts?!
Riviera Backless Striped Counter Stool: We bought these when we first moved into the house back in May, and we adore them! You can wipe down the woven part, so I never stress about little kids sitting on them… and they have a small footprint, which is perfect for our kitchen. (It’s a good size, but the doorway to the dining room is kind of tight since it’s between the island and the desk!)
Riviera Counter Stool: This is what I really wanted at the island, but again, I didn’t have that much space to work with. But it was the perfect size for the desk, so I jumped at the chance to own one! (Bought it shortly after the backless counter stools arrived.) Mitch and I are, however, currently toying with the idea of two of these on the end of the island, since we just extended the countertop in that direction. Not sure if it would look too busy, though. Opinions?!
Beford Tray: Stop. It. Prettiest tray I’ve ever seen. I plan on keeping this on the built-in buffet in our dining room once that’s done, but for now, it’s in the kitchen and it makes me happy!
Brela Napkins: So pretty! I drape them over the tray. And one day, when every surface is no longer sticky with kiddie stickiness, I might even use them. ;)
