Happy New Year

Happy New Year, Friends!

Last night, Mitch and I threw our first official party in the new house, and it was amazing! We normally celebrate New Year’s every year in pajamas with our friends Barbie and Jordan and their children… but since we now have more space, we figured why not extend the invite to others?! We threw it together very last-minute, but in the end, there were over 50 people in attendance! 😂 And while I was a little worried that things would get out of control, the kids were awesome and I can’t imagine a better way to ring in 2020–with old friends and new. Today, all Mitch and I can talk about is how lucky we are to be a part of this community, and how happy we are that we decided to stay.

Anyway, I have a few more reflective new year-related posts lined up that you should see in the coming days, but wanted to jump on quickly and share what I wore! I personally feel like there are SO many options for New Year’s outfits for fancy parties these days… but rarely do I see casual looks for laid-back house/basement parties–and ones that’ll work for moms who are chasing around little kids. :) Hope this helps–admittedly for next year–if you’re in the same boat!

Sequined T-Shirt: I ordered this the minute I saw it because it was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted something festive and glittery but not over-the-top, as the party was very casual. This totally fit the bill since it’s really just a t-shirt. (It’s actually a sequined version of my FAVORITE t-shirt, so I knew that I’d love it!) I ordered it in my usual size, and while it does run large, I just tucked it into my jeans and pulled it out a little, and it looked fun yet low-key! (In case you’re wondering, I think I got it on sale for around $40.)

High-Waisted Jeans: I went with this pair of dark jeans, which are made with cashmere for warmth. We had doors and windows open since there were so many people in the house and didn’t want people to be uncomfortable… but I’m a baby and can’t handle a slight breeze, haha. These jeans were great, though! Never once was I too chilly. The dark color went great with the sequins and denim made everything look less formal! (Order one size down. This pair, however, is my all-time favorite pair of Madewell jeans.)

Black Chunky Heel Pumps: YOU NEED THESE IN YOUR LIFE. I have an older pair, but they’re my most-worn pumps because they’re low and chunky and super comfy. They give me a little extra height while also allowing me to comfortably run after Emma. Can’t recommend them more; they’re a staple!

Phone Case: This isn’t part of the outfit but wanted to include just in case! (Haha. Phone joke.) My aunt gave me this for Christmas, and I’m in LOVE. Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the navy color and the bold type. Classic but different, you know?!

Mirror: Mitch and I “gave” this to each other for Christmas. Going to do a whole post on it soon, but we’re obsessed. It opens up the stairwell, provides for more light, and makes for great blog outfit photos. 😉 It’s an investment, but one we know that we’ll have forever! Beware, though: it took six grown men to get this thing upstairs! (THANK YOU, McNair brothers!)
