Not sure if you remember #30daysofplaid 😂, but I loved the challenge, and I’m really excited about doing something similar. Okay: I won’t be wearing pearls and stripes for a month, but you’ll see ’em in a lot of my upcoming outfit posts. Even though it might not feel like it, spring is officially here, and my closet is officially ready!

Anyway, let’s talk jewelry. In my 20s, I switched out my jewelry on a daily basis. I loved figuring out what went with what outfit, and I treated my jewelry box like it was a collection. (For our second anniversary, Mitch got me a bigger jewelry box to accomodate my costume jewelry, haha. So sweet!) These days, though, I have roughly 20 minutes to shower, get dressed, blow-dry my hair, and accessorize. I’ve said goodbye to most of my collection, and I now value quality over quantity. I also wear timeless pieces that can be worn again and again, with all kinds of outfits.

Today, I’m teaming up with Shane Co., the largest privately owned jeweler in the country, to show you how I style pearls and stripes. We were originally going to do one blog post, but I loved the project idea so much that I got a little overzealous and ended up with far too many outfits, photos and stories for just that one! So this is my first look of four. 😉

But let’s kick things off with a favorite look. Spring is a highly anticipated season, and I’m always so grateful when we’re finally graced with its presence here in Chicago. But Spring can be chilly. And while I’ve certainly been known to break out a skirt or dress on unusually warm days, I feel no need to freeze for the sake of fashion. Give me white jeans, an adorable top (available here and here), and a bag that represents warmer days to come… and I’m good!

For this look, I wore Shane Co.’s Mother of Pearl Circle Pendant in Rose Sterling Silver, as I loved how it paired with the feminine button-down top. Shirts with “complicated” collars are always troublesome; it’s hard to find a necklace that will fall in just the right way. But I love the spin on the typical pearl necklace, how the pendant peeks out from or lays on top of the shirt perfectly, how the rose color matches the pink in the top, and how the freshwater pearl pendant doesn’t overwhelm an otherwise busy neckline. Oh! And what about the fact that the necklace will go with nearly anything I wear the following day? Because… come on. I’m definitely going to forget to take it off before bed. ;)

Finally: the bracelet. It provides the finishing touch, and, like the necklace, it goes with almost every outfit. You’ll actually see it in my next “pearls and stripes” post later this week, as I haven’t taken it off since receiving it!

Stay tuned. :)
