Go-To Fall Outfit: Sweater Blazer, Stripes + Demi-Boot Jeans

Mitch and I took the girls to dinner last week when we were in the Wrigley neighborhood. Getting to other neighborhoods with little kids requires more planning and effort, but it’s always worth it. We sat outside Wrigley Field and took in the excitement, and also talked about how bummed we are that we never managed to get to a Cubs game this season, haha. Busy summer. Better luck next year! ;)

Emma and Lucy never want to wear jackets, even in 60-degree weather. But you know I jumped at the chance to wear my favorite sweater blazer. This is a go-to look that I rely on throughout the year, honestly! 😜 The details:

J.Crew Sweater Blazer

This is by far my most-worn blazer because it’s so cozy and warm—and it’s more casual. (The other blazer I own, btw, is the Regent Blazer. Far more structured and a lot dressier.) I have it hanging off the back of my desk chair most days, and I love that I can throw it on over most tops and look polished. Keep in mind that it runs large! Size down. (This one is very similar.)

Madewell Cali Demi-Boot Jeans

I am ALL about these jeans. J.Crew carries them too! (Love this pair.) I resisted anything that wasn’t skinny for the longest time, but I found the best “introductory” non-skinny jeans last year, and now I’m a total convert. Demi-boot jeans are fitted throughout the waist and thigh depending on the size and style—this button-front pair, for example, is way more fitted than the jeans I’m wearing in these pics—and then have a cropped, slightly flared lower leg. The key is CROPPED. Full-length Demi-boot jeans make me think of high school. Cropped—when you show a bit of ankle or the ankle part of a cute bootie—is the current style! When Demi-boot jeans/pants only come in full-length, I opt for petite, as I can usually achieve the cropped look that way.

Unstructured Ballet Flats

SO comfy. Favorite ballet flats ever! They’re made of the softest unstructured leather, which means there is absolutely no break-in time. They’re just ready to go! Once I found these, I said goodbye to my other ballet flats since I no longer reached for them. Highly recommend! I go a half size down.
