I have “exciting” news: In the words of my doctor, I “graduated” from weekly allergy shots and now only have to go once a month. (For the next five years of my life. But whatever, haha.) Yes–this makes me sound a bit Steve Urkel-ish, but I’m super proud! When I first started with the shots in early fall, I thought the commitment would be a cinch. I mean, you’d think that making it to a 4:45 p.m. Tuesday appointment every week would be easy, but goodness. Not so much. Nearly every Tuesday, something tried its very best to prevent me from getting there. But I powered through, no matter how crazy things were at work, how awful the weather was (remember winter?!), how bad commuting conditions were, or how tempting other engagements sounded. (Friends and family members, why are you always lining up fun plans for Tuesdays?! Hellooooo! Thursdays and Fridays are clearly superior. ;))
In all seriousness, though, I’m happiest because I feel better. A year ago, my health was in complete shambles. Today, I’m a functioning human who sometimes forgets that she’s allergic to literally everything on the Eastern Seaboard with the exception of cats and dogs. (Don’t you worry, future dachshund.) So, huzzah! Onto the next five years…
(Oh, and please excuse the dreadful hair today. Humidity is not my friend!)
