Early access to the long-awaited Nordstrom Anniversary Sale–the biggest sale of the year, when new arrivals and bestsellers from top brands are temporarily marked down–starts Friday, August 7th for “Ambassador” cardmembers!
Below, you can find more details on when everyone can shop. (Everyone can, however, add products to their carts right now, which is nice! They’ll be saved to your “Wishlist,” and you can simply check out once you gain access to the sale.) One fun thing everyone can do right now?! Enter to win $500 to shop the sale, just by leaving a comment at the bottom of this ridiculously long blog post! Btw: I recently fixed the comments section section of the blog, and I’m really excited about it. 😆
Here’s how to enter to win $500 to shop:
- Click here to browse and tell me (in the comments section at the bottom of this blog post) what you’d buy if you won the $500! (Don’t worry. It doesn’t have to add up to $500 — It can be anything, even this must-have for 2020. What do you have your eye on?! Note: You can add products to your “Wishlist” this year, which makes shopping easy once you gain access to the sale!)
- Bonus points for commenting with something funny, entertaining or interesting. Not required, but THE LARKINS ARE REALLY BORED RIGHT NOW. ;)
- Be sure to enter your email address in the form so I can contact you if you win. It will not be published; I am the only person who will see it, and you will not be signed up for any newsletters. Pinky swear!
- That’s it! (Seriously.)
The winner will be announced, contacted and rewarded the prize via Paypal or Venmo on August 19th, which is when the sale opens to the public. And don’t worry: I promise that there will be tons of goodness still in stock at that point!
Edit: Congratulations to Sara B. for winning! I was profoundly affected by her story. Mitch exported all the entries to a spreadsheet and used a randomizer to select a winner… and then I went back to read Sara’s comment before I contacted her. Sara is pregnant with her second child, and she’s taking care of her husband who’s battling cancer as well as their 18-month-old daughter, who I’m going to assume has a lot of energy! Sara’s entry was upbeat and kind and hilarious–and I’m left feeling so unbelievably inspired by her disposition and outlook. I really thought that the summer would lift my spirits, and I’d get a break from the sadness. And while it has provided that at times, I still struggle; it’s just such a day-to-day thing. One day I feel hopeful and the next I feel hopeless. I’m a firm believer in the idea that all feelings are valid, but I’m also a firm believer in the power of perspective. If Sara can do 2020, so can I. Congratulations, Friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you this year. Keep smiling! ♥️
Onward:
The details
If you’re a cardmember, you gain “Early Access” anytime between August 4th (today) and August 13th, depending on your status. (Icon, Ambassador, Influencer or Insider.) Not sure of what your status is? You can check here. Non-cardmembers gain access on August 19th.
Regardless, everyone can preview the sale here, which is a new feature this year!
But let’s pause and collect ourselves for a moment.
It goes without saying that 2020 is not the time to empty out our bank accounts during a sale. This a great time to save on casual and comfortable everyday staples, but it’s just a sale. No need to panic or get swept up in the frenzy. This will not be the last great deal, and don’t shop just because it seems like everyone else is shopping.
If you’re in the position to do so, set a budget and stick to it by putting thought into your purchases. (While also having some fun!) But if you’re not in the position, don’t feel badly about it. This has been a crap year and most of the world is down on their luck. You are not alone. ♥️
A great idea here would be to use the sale simply as outfit inspiration. At the bottom of every sale product, you’ll find a few different looks. Similarly, lots of bloggers will be sharing outfits from these pieces. Chances are that you can create something similar with what’s already in your closet! (Here’s an example.)
(Also keep in mind that I run a style-focused blog, and part of what I do is review and guide shopping decisions. I would not own what I own were it not for that! Mitch just chimed in and said, “Fun fact! Kelly owned one dress in 2009.” It’s true. BUT IT WAS A KILLER DRESS and I had a tiny closet and to be fair, it was an extremely versatile little thing and I miss it. RIP, Old Friend.)
Overall impression
As a whole, though, I’m very impressed with the way that Nordstrom has handled the sale this year; I see a marked difference in the included products, and the selection really seems to reflect the lifestyle shift that most have experienced in 2020. (With an exception here or there. Actually, Carole Baskin is very 2020 and would obviously approve. 😆)
As such, I focused (mostly) on casual and comfortable everyday staples while curating this post for readers. Like most people, I spent the first part of this year wallowing and cowering in the same leggings and sweatshirts every day, but I slowly learned that getting dressed and putting some effort in makes a big difference in my outlook and disposition, and it helps me stay motivated. I also try to (safely) spend as much time outside as possible these days, especially with little kids… and want to continue that throughout the rest of the year. If you’re in the same boat, the sale may help to fill some 2020 wardrobe holes. :)

Now that we’ve been over all that, I need to celebrate for a second because THIS TOOK ME FOREVER.
…Okay. I’m back.

Let’s dive in!
Booties
Steve Madden Nadali Booties: So sharp-looking.
Sam Edelman Daruby Booties: Love the toe shape and rise; like the Steve Madden pair, you don’t have to worry about bunching with pants. Your jeans either go over ’em or your leggings go under! So easy.
Blondo Sydney Waterproof Booties: Blondo will change your life. Never again will you have to worry about stepping into a puddle and having your day ruined. They’re magic! Totally waterproof.
Blondo Valli Waterproof Booties: Samesies. Just a bit more casual.
Ugg Shearling Booties: I am a total Ugg convert. They speak to me on a deeply personal level. In short, I could not exist in Chicago without them, and I can’t believe it took me a solid 15 years to come back to them. They’re gifts from the gods.
Cole Haan Taylor Waterproof Booties: LOVE THESE. Cole Haan makes some of the most comfortable shoes ever, and the quality is top-notch. I’ve been wearing them since my first job, when my mother got me a pair because my feet hurt so much. Game-changer!
Lucky Brand Lilka Suede Booties: These are the perfect go-with-everything bootie, and they’re priced right.
Boots
Steve Madden Nifty Over-the-Knee Boots: This pair and the pair next to it are probably my top choices. It’s always Steve Madden vs. Sam Edelman in this category!
Sam Edelman Davis Knee-High Boots: I do think, however, that Sam Edelman wins this year. Love the toe shape.
Stuart Weitzman Over-the-Knee Boots: This is the splurge. Though I will say that out of all the over-the-knee tie boots, they do stay up best. Worth it, but only if you’re going to wear them a LOT. I’ve had mine for four years now and they get a ridiculous amount of wear.
Vince Camuto Derika Boots: I would destroy these immediately but they also come in black so there’s that.
Blondo Waterproof Over-the-Knee Boots: This pair makes a bit more sense than the Stuart Weitzman pair. Plus the boots are WATERPROOF. The only thing is that the product page says that they’re for narrow calves and that they are not. Very normal, and you can expect a little scrunching. (Cute scrunching, though!)
Loafers and flats
Steve Madden Feather Loafer: Known for being wildly comfy… and it comes in a bunch of colors.
Steve Madden Leopard Feather Loafer: Here it is in leopard.
Steve Madden Chain Mule: Definitely inspired by the famous Gucci loafers. It’s shown here in black, but it also comes in white, leopard and tan. The alternative is Sam Edelman’s mule. (Predictable, haha.)
Woven Mule: I love these! So preppy. They also come in gold.
Marc Fisher Square Toe Loafer: I remember trying these on last year and thinking they were SO comfortable! They come in pink crocodile and tan, too.
Franco Sarto Pointed Toe Loafer: Also wonderfully comfy. Bone is shown here, but the black is great as well.
Paul Green Kiltie Loafer: An investment, but a solid pair of Kiltie loafers is hard to find. Brown is my jam, but also love the black.
Cole Haan Leopard Skimmer Flat: You know my feelings on Cole Haan. Can’t go wrong. Have an older pair of these and love them!
Cole Haan Skimmer Flat: Love the tiny heel; makes me feel a little fancier without sacrificing comfort.
Treasure & Bond Mule: A great basic. Also check out the black and leopard.
Leggings: faux leather, faux suede, and everyday
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: I need to be honest here and say that I love the Spanx faux leather leggings just as much as I love the Commando ones and I’m pretty sure I wear them both equally. The Spanx are a bit lighter, though, I suppose. I also feel like they stretch like crazy yet don’t stretch OUT, if that makes sense. I have a size small from my non-pregnant days and a size large from pregnancy, and both still work. It’s crazy. So don’t worry about sizing too much!
Commando Faux Leather Leggings: And the Commando pair is my go-to when it’s super cold in Chicago. They’re a little thicker and warmer. They’re the ones I’m wearing in the above photo!
Nordstrom Faux Leather Leggings: These look VERY much like the Spanx, but they’re only $28.90. Alternatives are Halogen’s Faux Leather Leggings and BP.’s Faux Leather Leggings.
Halogen High Waist Ponte Leggings: I can’t tell you how often I wear these! And I can’t believe this year’s price: Only $28.90. Not that many people are going into the office these days, but they’re a very thick material and you can totally pull ’em off as workwear. At the same time, though, they look fantastic when worn more casually, with sweaters or button-downs or whatever. Highly recommend; a great basic. An alternative is Nordstrom’s Everyday Basic High Waist Crop Ponte Leggings.
Zella High Waist “Live In” Leggings: I’ve heard SO many great things about Zella, and that they’re comparable to Lululemon’s Align Leggings. They sure beat Lululemon in price, though! For $38.90, I’m definitely giving them a try. They’re apparently great for both workouts and everyday wear.
BlankNYC Faux Suede Leggings: Hallelujah! Why did suede leggings go away? So glad they’re back. Super comfy yet make you look like you know something about fashion. I adore mine!
Loungewear, pajamas + everyday basics
Wubby Fleece Pullover: Everyone loves this thing, including me. It’s just so FLUFFY. Size down, though; it’s on the larger side and if you’re not careful you can end up looking like a Furby. But man is it great when the weather starts to cool. Kids love snuggling into it, too, haha.
Short Pajamas: A classic pair of PJs for the end of summer/early fall.
Long Pajamas: And a longer pair if your husband likes to keep the thermostat at below-freezing temps. It’s fine.
Ugg Fleece Bow Socks: These are in my cart, because of that damn thermostat. They’ll be kept right under my desk and I anticipate that they’ll solve that little marital problem. ;) The bow!
Barefoot Dreams Socks: Oh but NO ONE makes softer lounge socks than Barefoot Dreams. Ugh. DECISIONS. I love socks so much. I once got into a years-long fight with Jess over the greatness of a particular pair of Butter socks. She’s since come around and feels foolish and owns many pairs. 😜 “In cute patterns, Kelly. It’s different!” Whatever, Jess. (I’m here all night. But actually. 😩)
Zella Long-Sleeve Performance Tee: I’m not the most athletic, but I’m thinking about becoming a little athletic. This looks like it could take me there.
BP. Ribbed Long-Sleeved Tee: Basics, basics, basics. Perfect for under cardigans and blazers.
Cheslea28 Long-Sleeve Layering Tee: Same.
Long-Sleeved Crewneck Tee: Way more casual but just as functional.
1.STATE Cozy Knit Top: Is this not fantastic? So many colors, too! This is the kind of top I would pair with sequined leggings and try to pass the outfit off as a New Year’s look or something. In the name of warmth and all ladies 35 and older.
Pocket Tee: Pocket tees are so hard to find! Why? No one knows. They’re clearly superior to other tees. Emma agrees. Just be sure to check said pockets before laundering.
Dolman Thermal Top: Oh yes.
Caslon Thermal Henley: Double yes.
Free People Thermal Henley: You could roll out of bed wearing this, log onto Zoom, and still look fairly cool.
ALLSAINTS Striped Top: Paired with black leggings. The ultimate work-from-home look.
Topshop Knit Midi Dress: I’m loving this. Not sure how forgiving it would be, but wouldn’t it look adorable with booties? I might be bold and try it.
Cozy Jogger Pants: If you don’t have a pair of jogger pants, you’re missing out. Absolutely NO jogging takes place in them; they’re just really cute and look great with chambray shirts and slip-on sneakers. (To be honest, I don’t know how else to wear them, but this works for me.)
BP. Jogger Pants: Another option. :)
Gibson Cozy Top: Gibson’s Cozy Line is so good. Ridiculously soft. You’ll reach for it every day this fall, I promise.
Gibson Cozy Blouse: This is new and I’m SO excited about it! Not that I’m going out anytime soon, but I just think it looks like a top that could be passed off as a going out top. Clearly I’m into trickery and tomfoolery but comfort + warmth over all else.
BP. Cozy Top: Another option. But I still think Gibson wins in terms of coziness.
BB Dakota Jumpsuit: If you pee less than I do, you may be able to handle this. :)
Gibson Cozy Twist Top: I’ve had this one for years and it remains a favorite.
Jeans
Rag & Bone High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans: #1 pick out of all the sale jeans this year. Excited to try! The wash and rise are just perfect, and I won’t have to get them hemmed. The alternative is the darker mid-rise version.
Wit & Whimsy $44.90 Ab Solution High Waist Skinny Jeans: Second pick, and I can’t believe that they’re less than $45! I’ve never tried Wit & Whimsy before but people say great things.
Madewell High Waist Black Skinny Jeans: Madewell is normally my favorite brand of jeans. They’re the comfiest and most flattering, and usually beat out the other designers when it comes to price.
Paige Hoxton Skinny Jeans: I love Paige; a great pair of everyday dark skinnies.
7 For All Mankind High Waist Skinny Ankle Jeans: Another option. Very soft and stretchy!
AG Ex-Boyfriend Slim High Rise Jeans: I’m really into boyfriend jeans these days. I find that the slim cuts are more flattering on my frame. This pair looks great!
7 For All Mankind Josefina Crop Slim Boyfriend Jeans: This pair looks even better. The higher the waist, the better!
AG The Farrah High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans: I adore very light washes paired with white tops. This pair looks great.
Joe’s Charlie High Rise Jeans: Joe’s were my first pair of nice jeans! I bought them right after a bad breakout, and man. They helped, haha. These are super soft and run a little big. Order a size down. The alternative is the medium wash ankle version. There’s also a coated black version.
AG The Legging Black Ankle Jeans: AG’s “The Legging” is their claim to fame. You can be sure that these are fantastic, if you’re in the market for a new pair of black jeans. (Great for pairing with chambray shirts and camel sweaters! Gotta have a pair.)
Patagonia*
Better Sweater Quarter Zip: This is the best pullover. In general, Patagonia runs on the smaller side, so I always go up one size. I have the “Birch White” color but I also love the “Pelican,” which is shown above. It also comes in a (sale) full zip.
Los Gatos Fleece Vest: I have the Khaki. It’s my most-worn vest because it’s just so soft and cuddly. I throw it on whenever I need an extra layer of warmth. It looks particularly good with a flannel shirt underneath! It also comes in a (sale) pullover version.
Radalie Water-Repellent Insulated Parka: Huge fan of this. I have it in green, which has since been discontinued I believe, but all three colors included in the sale are great. I wear this throughout the fall, winter and spring, depending on how cold it is. (I go for it when temps are around 40 degrees… though it’s good when it’s colder and I’m just running to the car.) Runs small so definitely go a size up.
Nano Puff Hooded Water-Resistant Jacket: Such a classic!
Nano Puff Water-Repellent Puffer Jacket: Same with this one. Nano Puff jackets are lighter but they pack a punch. I wear them in the fall and spring, or when traveling to warmer climates. (Sadness.)
*You can view all Anniversary Sale Patagonia here.
Barbour*
Classic Waxed Jacket with REMOVABLE shearling: THIS is the winning Barbour of the sale. It has the classic silhouette and waxed material, and don’t worry about the weird shearling collar. It comes off and exposes a beautiful suede collar (as shown in the above picture). I wear a U.S. 4 in Barbour if that’s helpful!
Pilton Quilted Barn Jacket: SUCH a cute barn jacket and preppy alternative to a utility coat. Love exactly how the model is wearing it.
Quilted Trench Coach: If you want the trench coat look but are absolutely miserable in a traditional one because they provide no warmth at all.
Riselaw Rain Coat: Might as well have a cute rain coat to distract from the frizz.
*You can view all Anniversary Sale Barbour here.
Outerwear
Cole Haan Smooth Lambskin Leather Jacket: First leather jacket I’ve ever loved! How cute.
Cole Haan Wrap Coat: This looks SO SOFT. Here it is in black.
Caslon Utility Jacket: I personally love utility jackets. Paired with jeans and a white, black or striped tee, they’re so classic looking. Love that this one is collarless, feminine and soft-looking.
Houndstooth Wool Coat: Love anything houndstooth!
Sam Edelman Wool Coat: This will sell out SO quickly so pounce if you love it. It also comes in black and red but let’s be serious: no one needs a black or red coat if they have a fabulous camel one. It’s perfect for all occasions!
Halogen Camel Wool Coat: Another great camel coat option.
Via Spiga Faux Fur Vest: Am I crazy for loving this?! I REALLY like it. It’s shown here in black but it comes in white, too. I’m here for it.
Bernardo Plaid Coat: Gosh this is beautiful. Here’s the Theory version. (Sigh.)
Sam Edelman Trench Coat: I know I previously talked some trash about trench coats, but I should note that I absolutely adore the look and those comments came from a place of envy. If you do not have Raynaud’s Syndrome, this would likely be perfect for you. Another option is Pendleton’s trench coat.
Thread & Supply Quilted Barn Jacket: Yep yep yep. If you loved Barbour’s barn jacket, this is a more affordable option!
Bernardo Belted Coat: This is so classy. But it might also be because of the model’s pose. I don’t know.
Thread & Supply Cardi Coat: Very chic if worn with skinny jeans. Really lovin’ it.
Vince Wrap Coat: An investment, but gorgeous.
Theory Wool and Cashmere Trench Coat: Love this one even more. Of course it’s my favorite out of all the coats. Here it is in a beautiful plaid.
Barefoot Dreams*
CozyChic Lite Long Cardigan: I have it in “Bisque” and fully intend on buying it in the “Cocoa” color (shown above) this sale. Everything that you hear about Barefoot Dreams is true. Softest sweaters I’ve ever owned, and worth every penny. Just have one cardigan instead of five! ;)
CozyChic Lite Long Weekend Waffle Cardigan: GET THIS. It’s my #1 recommendation this year. I literally wear mine every day in the home office; it’s wonderfully soft and provides so much warmth. I keep it on the back of my chair and reach for it every morning. It’s more substantial than the first Barefoot dreams cardigan but not in an overwhelming way.
CozyChic Leopard Cardigan: Oooooh this is cute. Shoutout to all my Caroles.
CozyChic Socks: *Adds to cart.*
*You can view all Anniversary Sale Barefoot Dreams here.
Cardigans
Leith Cozy Long Cardigan: This number definitely wins the cardigan game this sale. (Outside of Barefoot Dreams, of course.) It’s reasonably prices and comes in a ton of colors, and I love the drapey look. Also love this very similar cashmere long cardigan if you’re looking to go more upscale.
Treasure & Bond Longline Cardigan: Very prep! The alternative is this BP. cardigan and this Topshop cardigan.
Caslon Open Front Cardigan: Not sure I could pull off the stripe, but it comes in a lot of basic colors, too.
Halogen Throw-On Cashmere Ruana: These things are magic. I bring them along with me on chillier nights when I’m wearing dresses.
Leith Open Front Dolman Sleeve Cardigan: Another option!
Topshop Cable-Sleeve Cardigan: Trendy but Grandpaish at the same time. How does Topshop do it?!
Topshop Ribbed Open Front Cardigan: So cuddly.
Sweaters
Halogen Cashmere Crewneck Sweater: This is the best sweater deal of the sale! Cashmere for under $58. I would recommend the white and black as fantastic basics that’ll last forever. But this is the non-cashmere crewneck version with quarter-length arms, and here’s the version with longer arms, both of which are only $28.90. Two other alternatives are BP.’s version and Treasure & Bond’s version.
Rachel Parcell Puff Sleeve Turtleneck Sweater: Hate puff sleeves on me but love them on everyone else. It’s weird.
Free People Chunky Sweater: There’s always a winner Free People sweater, and this is clearly it. The stuff Pinterest dreams are made of.
Cheslea28 Cowl Neck Sweater: So cute, right?! Great color selection, too.
Free People Oversized Slouchy Sweater: Love it in black and also in camel. I’ll be honest and say that I have to limit myself to only owning a couple of sweaters like this because otherwise I’d wear them every day. Fantastic with leggings or super-skinny jeans! This is another oversized option.
Free People Afterglow Mockneck Oversized Sweater: See? The black is worth looking at as well.
ALLSAINTS Oversized Funnelneck Sweater: So expensive but it shows, haha. Love the Toffee Brown but also the black. Other amazing high-end sweaters include the Vince Mockneck Sweater, Vince Cable-Knit Mockneck Sweater, Nordstrom Signature Cashmere Pullover and Nordstrom Signature Boatneck Cable Cashmere Sweater.
Theory Cashmere Short-Sleeved Sweater: Friends rave about this and wait for it to go on sale! Another tailored option is Vince’s elbow-sleeve sweater.
Treasure & Bond Sweater Hoodie: With leather leggings, of course.
Caslon Chenille Turtleneck Sweater: CHENILLE. *Adds to cart.* Fabulous for pairing with fancy pants. You look dressy yet feel cozy! Chenille has that sparkle to it, you know? It’s a wonder material.
Tory Burch*
Carson Leather Tote: This comes in brown and black, and it’s the classic Tory Burch tote. Only buy during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The savings is awesome.
Carson Continental Wallet: I have this wallet! (Or an older version of it, at least.)
Carson Crossbody: Comes in black, too. Has anyone else find themselves returning to crossbodies? I suppose because all I do it walk around with the stroller, and it’s nice to have a smaller bag with the essentials: keys, cell phone, mask, snack, stray legos, doggy bag, etc.
Carson Zip Top Crossbody: It comes in black but come on who’s getting black when you can have red? (Paired with a stripe top. Adorbs.)
Leigh Loafer: Only one pair of Tory shoes this year?! Boo. These are cute, though. Lots of colors.
* You can view all Anniversary Sale Tory Burch here.
Longchamp
Le Pliage Expandable Tote: If you’re in love, CHECK OUT. They don’t last long. And yes, the expandable is better than the original! For obvious reasons for my fellow packrats and people who could fill an entire trash bag with the content of their purses by the end of the week–even in quarantine. Btw: these bags fold up and travel great. They never go out of style, either! Black and green are my suggestions.
Le Pliage Leather Shoulder Bag: Another option!
Madewell*
High-Waist Black Skinny Jeans: Again, Madewell jeans are always the best. Perfect with chambray shirts, striped tops, and camel sweaters.
Classic Striped Ex-Boyfriend Shirt: Love the Ex-Boyfriend cut!
Leopard Transport Tote: I have the cognac leather one, but this one packs a punch for outfits. It also comes in a smaller size.
Remi Mule: Comes in black, blush and leopard.
Oversized Jean Jacket: Love the longer length and seriously considering it because of that! Does anyone know if it’s soft?
Kent Cardigan Sweater: Madewell’s most popular cardigan. Heather Fog is the color… but it also comes in a fun stripe.
Sonia Chelsea Bootie: The classic Madewell bootie.
*You can view all Anniversary Sale Madewell here.
J.Crew*
High-Rise Slim Stretch Crepe Pants: I’ll say that J.Crew normally has a sale of its own going on, so keep that in mind. But Nordstrom is offering some exclusive J.Crew products, which is fun. These pants come in navy and black.
Long Cardigan: Comes in black, navy, gray and camel.
Popover Top: This navy and white strip is a great basic but OH the polka dots.
Leopard Print Merino Sweater: Perfect under blazers.
Schoolboy Stretch Crepe Blazer: Ah! The blazer! I suppose you can picture it now. Here it is in navy, but the black would be better with that leopard sweater.
*You can view all Anniversary Sale J.Crew here.
Blazers
Halogen Glen Plaid Blazer: All right, guys. It’s getting late. What is there to say about all these blazers? I’m not sure. I’m a huge fan of the plaid.
1.STATE Black Blazer: But also the solid.
Treasure & Bond Plaid Blazer: I have a similar brown one from a previous year’s sale and I wear it a LOT in the fall.
Gibson Cozy Blazer: This is KNIT! You’re welcome.
BB Dakota Plaid Blazer: BB Dakota makes extremely flattering blazers. No bulk. Longer length. All goodness. No badness.
J.Crew Schoolboy Crepe Blazer: It’s a classic. Size up.
Shirts and tops
Thread & Supply Flannel Shirt: This is selling out so quickly. :(
Rails Button-Down Shirt: Definitely my favorite white button-down because it’s so soft and cozy, unlike the crispy ones. Here’s the plaid Rails shirt. It’s really cute!
Caslon Lace Top: So many color options! But every girl needs a cute lacey top.
CeCe Tie-Sleeve Top: A nice top for going out. Not.
Caslon Henley Top: Accidentally included this here too so let’s move on.
Vince Camuto Ruffled Collar Tee: The ruffle around the neck! Three A+ colors.
Madewell Polka Dot Top: Drapey and lovely.
Halogen Tie-Neck Top: They brought it back!
1.STATE Smocked Top: Love wrinkle-resistant tops.
Halogen Houndstooth Tie Top: SO CUTE. That tie!
Halogen Tie Top: And here it is in black.
Madewell Bubble-Sleeve Top: This looks delightfully cozy. I’m tired. The black looks good, too.
Frank & Eileen Button-Down Striped Shirt: Here’s the shirt in white. Why are they selling out so quickly?! Have always wanted to try. Oh well. Here’s a far more affordable striped version.
Rails Chambray Shirt: What do we think about the raw hem? LOVE Rails but typically don’t go for raw hems.
Rails Plaid Button-Down Shirt: I have an older version of this and it’s ridiculously soft and cozy. Clearly the theme of this post.
Dresses
Gal Meets Glam Stripe Maxi Dress: Highlighting dresses for late fall/winter seems a bit silly, but I for one live in dresses during the summer/early fall because of ease. (Throw it on and ready to go!) For those of you who are desperately hanging on to summer, this Gal Meets Glam is prepfection. Yep, I just said that.
Eliza J Ruffle Neck Navy Dress: My favorite! That striped ruffle!
Tiered Midi Dress: A good everyday dress for these last few months of warmth; looks like it would travel well.
Eliza J Striped Shirtdress: Can’t resist a stripe.
Frank & Eileen T-Shirt Dress: People love this dress but I’ve always been put off by the price, considering it’s a t-shirt dress. Very discounted, though. Would you do it? (I’m still a no, haha. But cute!)
Eliza J Navy Wrap Dress: Anyone have a socially distant outdoor wedding to attend? I do! (My brother-in-law and future sister-in-law. I’m the socially distant photographer! So excited.) This is a top contender.
Rachel Parcell Pleated Dress: No need for it but LOVE so it’s here, haha. It’ll be a minute before I find myself in form-fitting dresses because of all the ice cream I’ve consumed in the last six months but love it. It comes in black, too. Also check out this simpler pink A-line dress and simpler white A-line dress.
Harper Rose High Neck Navy Dress: Reminds me of sailing. Which reminds me of Nantucket. Which reminds me of my family. Which reminds me that I’m sad. UGH, NORDSTROM.
Underwear
Hanky Panky Underwear: I kind of can’t believe that I’m blogging about a thong but if I HAVE to recommend one, it’s this one because it’s the only one I will wear. Here’s the regular-rise and the mid-rise. And here’s the bikini. This five-pack of Commando thongs is supposed to be good; this one is supposed to disappear under clothing. Omg okay it’s over PHEW.
Wacoal Strapless Bra: Crazy high reviews. Hate strapless bras but need one? Try!
Free People Bralette: This is really cute under off-the-shoulder sweaters or stuff that is more revealing than you’d like. Just looks like a pretty tank underneath without the bulk. Seems out of character that I own this, yes. I totally agree. But I get a lot of use out of mine!
Zella Soft Gray Bra: Again, if I would athletic, I’d totes wear this. Supposed to be very soft.
Natori Sports Bra: Same. I like this. This Spanx one and this True & Co. one are good alternatives.
Calvin Klein Lounge Bra: THIS speaks to the Current Kelly, though. It’s also apparently pretty good for working out in, so if I turn into Athletic Kelly, I can still wear it. (Hahahaha never going to happen.)
On Gossamer Bump It Up Bra: Apparently works miracles. I should look into this.
Sneakers
Adidas Swift Run Sneaker: The cool thing is that these days, even non-sporty people can pull off sporty sneaks. Love this pair!
Cole Haan Slip-On Sneaker: The pink and black are great. Slip-ons are my fave.
Crest Vibe Slip-On Sneaker: Sperry sneakers for the ultimate preps out there.
Cole Haan Leopard Slip-On Sneaker: I already have the Rothy’s, but if I didn’t, these would be in my cart!
Stan Smith Sneaker: So in style right now! They look fantastic with all jeans.
Dr. Scholl’s Scout Slip-On Sneaker: Dr. Scholl’s may not be cool, but black slip-ons are cool and therefore these are cool yet COMFY sneaks. The pink is cute, too.

Nordstrom Cubic Zirconia Earrings: I am not a “real jewelry” girl. Mitch definitely could have (and probably should have) given me a fake diamond ring; I would’ve been just as happy. So these are right up my alley! All the sparkle, none of the monies.
Kate Spade Sunglasses: My best sunglasses are KS.
Kate Spade Leather Tote: Perfect everyday tote. I TOTES still use totes because hello, gotta haul around the kid stuff. The Marc Jacobs bag is a great alternative.
Monica Vinader Engravable Friendship Bracelet: One of the only real pieces of jewelry I own, but I do have to admit that I adore it! It’s engravable, and thus I’ve given it to so many friends and family with special things engraved on it over the years. A super sentimental and lovely gift.
Kate Spade Initial Necklace: Get it! What a steal. I need to get back into wearing simple jewelry!
Textured Cashmere Scarf: Winter is coming.
Kate Spade Wallet: Though seriously just use Apple Pay.
Kate Spade Shoulder Bag: I used one of my nicer bags a few weeks ago when I went “out” with Mitch (on a picnic) and I felt very silly. But it was kind of fun. Reminded me of our old lives!
Halogen Belt: For cinching flowy dresses with.
Tory Burch Watch: Do people still wear watches? What time is it? Day?
Beauty
Olaplex Set: You know how I feel about Olaplex. If your hair is damaged and dry, TRY THIS. I went from having no hair to having quite a bit with the help of Olaplex; it’s a miracle product. Turned my hair from straw to silk, and I now have double (if not triple) the hair that I used to!
Bobbi Brown Face Base: Game-changer. It’s expensive, but a little goes a long way. This stuff is a moisturizer AND primer in one, and it keeps your makeup on your face all day long. It’s nuts, and 100-percent the best beauty product I own. Before finding this, I’d need to do touchups throughout the day. But no more! Couldn’t live without it.
diptyque Scent Set: Everyone loves diptyque! You can also get the candle set on sale, which makes for a great housewarming gift.
T3 Curling Iron: I’m now a huge fan of the Dyson AirWrap, but this is what I used to use to curl my hair and it’s AWESOME… and much more affordable. (I own the Dyson because of a past project.) The T3 is truly the best traditional curling iron I’ve ever tried, and the curls or waves–depending on what you choose–are stunning. Here’s the T3 hairdryer. (Also, for what it’s worth, I still do my hair at least three times per week. It’s makes a difference!)
Mario Badescu Essentials Set for Acne: That drying lotion, man. If something pops up before an event (ha), this is what you use. Gets rid of most stuff overnight!
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: Face feelin’ old? Mine too. This stuff really helps the skin recover overnight, as the name suggests. My skin looks a lot brighter and healthier when I use it! Here’s the hydration set from Kiehl’s, which gives you a chance to try everything from the line and see what you love before committing to bigger quantities.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser: I use this! I believe this is the jumbo size. It’s very gentle and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I should also mention that Kiehl’s is right near my house so it was very convenient and fun to go and browse.
Le Labo Travel Perfume: LOVE Le Labo, but woo-ee. Gotta wait until it goes on sale. My favorite scent is Rose 31, but I also have this scent and love it! The best thing is that it’s all unisex. Mitch likes it, too.
Kids + baby
Ugg Booties: Oh man, Friends. We’re nearing the end, and this girl is going to bed soon. WOO! Anyway, kids’ Uggs might seem crazy, but they LAST. I used to buy Emma the knockoff ones, and they were adorable… but I had to replace sometimes in the middle of the season. We’re goin’ on two years with her Uggs, though, which I bought very large–and they look brand new. I also plan on passing them down to Lucy, who’ll probably get another two to three years’ wear out of them. They’re fantastic and so warm, which is needed in Chicago. I love the sparkly pair but the pink is sweet, too.
Zella Live-In Leggings: For kids?! So cute. Emma does, however, own one zillion pairs of leggings.
Baby Bunting: Things like this is why people keep having babies. So cute.
The North Face Fur-Lined Jacket: This looks wonderfully cozy.
Critter Mary Janes: Cute Mary Janes are hard to find! Emma loves the critters.
Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket: Another investment, but awesome if you size up and also have a sibling to pass it down to. (Less stuff, easier life, in my opinion.) Love both the gray and the navy. (Here is the boys’ version.)
Tucker + Tate Cozy Jogger Pants: I love twinning with my kids. This might need to happen.
Thule Double Jogging Stroller: I hear this is the best jogging stroller. I should jog.
Tucker + Tate Bear Cozy Fleece Jacket: I mean…
Maxi-Cosi Car Seat: This is our car seat! Love it.
Scalloped Booties: A great everyday fall boot.
Maxi-Cosi Infant Car Seat: We used this with the girls when they were babies! Clips into a lot of strollers.
Patagonia Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece: Wonderfully soft. Love when adult clothing comes in mini. It’s adorable.
Adidas Sneakers: Like these. COME ON.
Patagonia Better Sweater Pullover: And the Better Sweater Pullover?!
Steve Madden Riding Boots: Riding boots for little girls. I can’t. But I can. And I will. Or might, at least. We’ll see.
The North Face Baby Jacket: More coziness.
Patagonia Furry Friends Fleece: Emma and Lucy in these?! Yes.
Men’s
Sperry Topsiders: Mitch’s most-worn Sperrys. Can’t go wrong with ’em.
Vineyard Vines Polo: Mitch’s most-worn polo. It’s t-shirty. Looks sharp.
Vest: Mitch does not wear vests but loves the IDEA of them and therefore buys them. It’s like me and heels.
Patagonia Better Sweater Pullover: This, however, he wears every day in the winter.
Patagonia Two-Tone Pullover: Same. ^
Quilted Barbour Jacket: I’m pretty sure this is the exact Barbour he owns?!
Throw blankets
Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw: The only products from the home section that caught my eye were the throws. This one is my favorite and on my wishlist! It gets RAVE reviews. (Here are all the Barefoot Dreams home products.)
Nordstrom Bliss Throw: For less than $25, this is a great alternative.
Rope Blanket: Every living room needs one! This one is super similar.
Plume Throw Blanket: Would look lovely in a little girls’ room.
Pom Blanket: Just as good as the rope blankets! Love the palms.
Faux Minx Fur Blanket: Our faux minx blanket gets so much use during the winter.
Faux Fur Throw: Another solid throw. Here’s a great alternative.
Ugg Whistler Blanket: Anything Ugg…
BP. Shaggy Throw: Would be nice to drape this over a chair if my children didn’t steal ALL THROWS and hide them around the house how is that even fun give them back guys!
Anthropologie Blanket: I really just appreciate the artistic vision behind this product photo.
OVER AND OUT, everyone! If you’re still here, thanks for coming along for wild ride. See you back here tomorrow!
And remember to enter to win $500 to shop the sale, just by leaving a comment at the bottom of this ridiculously long blog post! Btw: I recently fixed the comments section section of the blog, and I’m really excited about it. 😆
Here’s how to enter:
i bought the madewell oversized denim jacket a few weeks ago (i think it was on sale at Madewell?), IT IS FANTASTIC!! and yes, soft despite having no stretch and being 100% cotton. i am extremely large and running hot because i’m pregnant (with twins no less :) ) but have still tried to wear it despite it being 100+ degrees in atlanta. as in i love it so much i wore it TO THE POOL, and my husband looked at me like i was crazy, which i suppose i am! (by the way, just for my quarantine bona fides, the pool is my parent’s pool, they wave at us from inside, felt the need to say that haha)
Omg, hahahaha. Christina. I feel like we’d be friends in real life. Laughing so hard. THANK YOU so much for this info; I’m sold! You’re the best!! And congratulations on the TWINS! Ahhhhh, what a blessing. The best is yet to come. <3
Absolutely love the barefoot dreams cardigans!! Definitely a work from home staple I’ll add to my list for the sale. :)
Well this is so fun…thank you!! Awesome blog and insta page…I love following along.
Amazing selection and hard choices, but I’d go with a make up refresh which I desperately need and keeping with 2020, some cozies from barefoot dreams.
Today I stumped my 9 year old daughter with the Pete and Repeat sitting on a log…” it was so great. She burst out laughing after the fourth round when she FINALLY caught on
Thanks for thorough sale suggestions! Y’all are too cute!! Love them all but would probably start with some Blondo Boots, Patagonia, Rag + Bone Jeans and then stock up the kids with those Tucker + Tate joggers for home school and re-stock the husband’s Vineyard Vine polos! Thanks again for all your work on this!
Never can figure out how to comment. Love all the great items! That’s!!
Thanks for the Nordstrom anni round up! I would love to try the Bliss Throw Blankets and new pjs. Covid times don’t have us leaving the us often so loungewear is needed! Also I ordered 2 of your book recs for my kiddos to diversify their library- thank you!!
I have my eyes on the waffle knot cardigan! I’ve never met a I didn’t love
I have my eye on the nuface! Quarantine has NOT helped my fine lines….
Wow! I am crazy about your round up. So many amazing options!! As far as what I have my eye on, always love me some more Patagonia :) I live in Denver now (originally from Chicago – we lived in LP too!) so anything from them is my jam. I would also try to snag a pair of Stan Smith white sneakers, Spanx leggings, and some causal tops for fall.
Your family is adorable – love to follow you guys and see your adventures around Chicago. I love Denver, but miss “the city” all the time :)
I am starting to teach this year (eek!) and have just moved into my own place. I would definately buy a throw blanket for my home and some wardrobe staples like the Frank and Eileen button down shirt! I love your sale guide, such a great roundup of items!
So many good pics this year! I like that you chose very classic pieces on your roundup. If I won the giftcard I would definitely get a barefoot dreams blanket & a couple new bras to replace the decrepit ones I’ve been hanging on to .
Nothing else super interesting to share. I finished my Masters in May and my school was planning on having a belated in person ceremony in Oct. Unfortunately SC is super crazy at the moment, so they just sent and email out saying if they do a ceremony it may just be for graduates and not their family. It is what it is. You and your family stay safe!
I have my eye on the Tory Burch sneakers and some activewear.
For sure would buy some a Patagonia fleece, the coke Hahn slip on tennis shoes, and basically load up on fleece loungewear. Can you tell I’m gearing up for a winter spent at home?
Decisions….Decisions….
I would get 2 Barefoot Dreams Cardigans,
I need to up my pajama game,
I would get Spanxs leggings
I would get some new joggers – great for working from home
This should probably take care of $500… thanks so much!
Teacher clothes, new shoes, a much needed “big girl” bag. Today I reminisced about the Disney cruise I went in when I was in second grade and during the fire drill I was freaking out that it was real and was asked to leave since I was causing such a scene.
I would like to have and outfit that made me look so confident when I serve fish two nights in a row. Pants without elastic, Paige jeans, classic button up shirt and a pair of sperry loafers would do it. I broke my ankle and gained 40 lbs! I have started taking zoom exercise classes but noticed the other people do not look like they stopped cleaning the house to participate. So anything head to toe Zella! I’m a single mom of 3 under 11 yrs old and I always check out what you are wearing!
I would love the Barefoot Dream animal print cardigan, and I always “need” new jeans and booties for fall! :)
A new hairdryer! My hair hasn’t been colored or cut in months,,,,and I’m hoping a new hair dryer might make me feel a bit more human?
Thanks for putting this helpful guide together, Kelly! With my fall semester of college being online this year, I have found myself wanting a lot of pieces from the loungewear section (honestly though, I would probably still be shopping the loungewear even if school were in-person haha). Specifically, I would love the Wubby Fleece Pullover and cozy jogger pants you linked. I have also wanted the Patagonia quarter zip for a while now, too. Thanks again for all of the great content!
All of the leggings! I’ve become anti-jeans/skirts/etc since COVID started. Leggings or nothing!
Please, please write all of your sale guides after a bottle of wine, haha. I love to multitask- shop AND be very entertained, lol. And, I agree with all your comments on the Gal Meets Glam dress..it is perfection! Why can’t we have an endless summer?! I am so not ready for the cold weather to come back ;)
Libby

I would love to get a cashmere cardigan from the sale and/or maybe a new fall purse.
Not sure why that went as a reply instead of an original comment :( sorry!
Wowza what a round up! You’re the best, Kelly! (I don’t normally use the word wowza… but … Rose ♀️♀️) Totally agree on the Barefoot Dreams cardigans-they are the best and that would definitely be on my wish list along with the socks…cozy will likely be in my foreseeable future!
Until Zoom and Teams get insta filters probably the light up makes that makes you look like Hannibal Lector but is supposed to have magical anti aging properties. There’s only so many times ones boss can inquire how they’re feeling before you realize the haggard has leveled up the past few months, ha.
Can I have it all?! Top on my list is:
-leopard transport tote (can’t go wrong with a Madewell bag!)
-OTK Blondo boots (I have no where to wear them in these times but that’s ok!)
-ALL the lounge wear because let’s be honest that’s the dress code now! Particular favs are Wubby Fleece, Free People Henley and the Barefoot dreams everything but definitely the weekend waffle cardigan!
Thank you for putting together such an awesomely thorough round up!!!
anything and everything cashmere, i’m loving that “ruana” pullover. and, a nice pair of leggings. if only nordstorm sold wine, too, i’d be all set.
This made my day – the comments are so spot on! All reviews should be done with some extra help ;) haha I am thinking of buying the waxed Barbour but I am so confused on their sizing. I have a quilted jacket from last year’s sale but I was told that each jacket is different. Any advice?
Have been wanting a Barbour forever!!! I think 2020 is the year to “treat yo self”!
I agree!! I just graduated in the spring and have been looking for a way to celebrate! Nothing better than a little retail therapy :) A barbour would be a nice treat – Now just to have some reason to leave the house and wear everything…..
So many awesome pics Kelly! Can’t wait to shop!! I have the Spanx faux leather leggings and they are truly my holy grail. Wish I had something entertaining to comment but….2020. Lol.
I’d up my cozy game – today felt a little like fall and reading a good book on the porch with a soft blanket, comfy pj’s and some fluffy slippers after the kids are in bed sounds fantastic to me!
Hi Larkins!! I have recruited my grandma to be an official Kelly in the City stan; she loves your home updates and any pictures of the girls and Noodle! Thank you for always brightening our days (especially during these times). If I won I would definitely invest in a Barbour jacket!
Since quarantine started, I’ve gotten a pizza oven & a peloton.
With the $500, I’d like to think I’d get all fitness/workout gear to go with the peloton, but I’ll likely upgrade my pajamas and other pizza eating attire
Black leather booties and patent loafers are at the top of my list! And since Fall is fast approaching bring on all the comfy sweaters
Egeary24[at]gmail [dot]com
I really love the ClareV crossbody, but if we are going to be real, I’d use the gift card to buy athleisure that could be disguised as dress clothes for back to the classroom! I’m concerned I can only wear elastic waistbands at this point.
Barefoot dreams cardigans!
I am looking at some new booties & I would love to snag a Barbour!
I can’t wait for the sale to open tomorrow! I’ve started focusing a lot on skincare during quarantine and will definitely shop these products!
I’d love to get some new booties… maybe the Blondos!
Fun fact- I just had a baby and two of our top girl names were Lucy and Emma ☺️
I always have fun looking at your picks and seeing what I would buy! If I won, I would get the expandable Longchamp bag and would consider a Barbour jacket.
This is the best review! I have my eye on investing in a few cashmere staples and might finally pull the trigger on the Barbour that I’ve had my eye on for years!
Give me ALL the shoes!! (Although no where to wear them to… but a girl can dream right?! ) This was SO helpful! I always become so overwhelmed with all the choices and it’s nice to have the favorites all in one place.
I’d buy more professional-ish comfy clothes for teaching remotely in the fall!!
I would love some great staples and a Barbour.
I would love the free people slouchy sweater and the all saints funnel neck sweater. I don’t know why I’m craving cozy sweater since I liven in the South and we can pretty much only wear them December through February, but it isn’t what it’s is.
Hi Kelly!
I love your blog and style but right now I’m just a poor recent college grad (class of 2020) so I look at your page as future inspo for when I have a big girl job!!;) I also like to try to find more affordable pieces that resemble your style! If I won this $500 shopping giveaway I would 100% buy a Barbour jacket. I’ve always wanted one!
Again, I just love your blog and classic style. Oh, and seeing your cute girls!!
Those faux leather spanx It’s that time of age
I have a few lifelong besties that I follow on IG who sell or promote things I love and it’s like do I keep up with their lives or do I keep my wallet padded? Working on self restraint but also I already went through the sale and wish listed to my heart’s content last night ♀️ $500 I’m honestly hoping everything I like will be sold out by the time I can shop. I got rid of my Nordstrom card years ago and it’s probably a good thing.
Love u guys
ahhhh my emojis didn’t show up in my post. lol awkward.
Uh, maybe the Dyson airwrap?? I still use a $15 Conair curling iron from 1999 but your hair cutting post and IGs made me extremely interested!
This is definitely the best Nordstrom sale review to date! The links & info are so organized-I LOVE it!! I can’t wait to purchase my first barefoot dreams cardigan (that I’ve wanted for so long!) and some of the cute baby items, as my first is due in January & Midwest winters are tough haha! Thanks for such a great post :)
Definitely picking up another Barefoot Dreams blanket! I got one for my mom for Mother’s Day, but then I kind of stole it…. oops. Only child thing? (In my defense, it was the only thing that I could tolerate being on me when I had a wicked bad sunburn…) I’m also trying to convince myself I don’t neeeeed another coat, but that Barbour one is really screaming my name!
Hi Kelly! Wow! I’m so impressed with how thorough your Nordy shopping guide is! My Mom and I always joke that Nordstrom is our happy place ; )
If I won the $500 I would absolutely try and buy the Uppababy stroller for my sister’s first baby that’s on the way and due in December! But I think it will be sold out by the time the sale opens up.
So, I think I’d go with the Free People Monterey Slip Skirt!
For something funny, ha. Why do we always tell actors “break a leg”? Because every play has a cast! ; )
Definitely looking at the Quilted Barbour Barn jacket! Just moved from Chicago to North Carolina so sadly (not… hah) packed up my long parka for good and need something more suited for a mild winter :)
If I won the $500, I would absolutely purchase Revitabrow!! I haven’t worn makeup at all during quarantine (the longest I’ve ever gone without makeup!!) so I’m making it a point to try and find ways to make myself feel in tip-top-shape sans makeup!! Aka getting my skin into gear, trying to grow out my brows, and drinking boat loads of water!!
Thank you for doing this giveaway, love the blog post and your honesty ❤️
Hi! I love following you and cannot wait to shop this sale.
While I want to buy cute coats and boots, I know that pajamas, athleisure, and blankets are the most practical right now! Thanks for doing this giveaway ☺️
Wow well I typed up a whole long comment about Nordstrom but it got deleted and I clicked backspace ♀️ Anyways, I would totally get some summer PJ sets and new lipstick!!
I actually did read this whole thing, and it was helpful—but more importantly it was funny. And we all need a little levity right now! With $500, I would buy all the Barefoot Dreams cardigans for myself and my mom and sisters. Seriously they are the best.
I need all the jeans and leggings. Specifically looking at some Levi’s included in the sale!
I would love to purchase a Barbour jacket! Since traveling to Scotland, I have aspired to dress more like young Queen Elizabeth when she would visit Balmoral!
1) Those hot pink shearling Ugg slippers – the ultimate pandemic house slippers since no one can see my shoes on Zoom
2) A good facial scrub to combat mask breakouts
3) A warm coat and some sweaters – I moved to the Midwest and I need to prepare for these Midwest winters!!
barbour rain coat for sure! and ugg blanket!
Right now I have Zella leggings and a pair of Ugg slippers on my wish list. But, I’d for sure add a Tory Burch bag to the list if I found out I had an extra $500 to spend! Woo hoo! Thank you!
I love the Gibson cozy twist top! I want all the colors. I am also in the market for all the loungewear… that work from home life…
Probably the Riselaw rain coat – I need a new casual one! Is this light-weight or on the thicker side?
For bonus points, my last job included marketing penile implants
Yay!!! I’d buy the halogen double face wool coat! I also want all the blondo booties!
Great post! Years ago I discovered Rag & Bone Skinny jeans thanks to your blog. Changed my life. Love this year’s pick. What a thing to have nice snug fitting jeans and still be able to breath. I picked out the Tory Burch Tote too, and was glad to see it on your list. However, I missed the Leigh loafers – just snagged them too – thanks! What a great heel height! Love the Theory trench coat too – another thing I missed. Your whole list made me smile!
I would love to buy the Madewell Jane sweater and Born leopard flats. So something funny that happened. I decided to sign up for bumble, the dating app. I swiped through all the man and didn’t see anything I liked. Then I wondered why I had so many matches. I was sleeping yes instead of no on every single person. I took that as a sign that online dating is not for me.♀️
Def eyeing one of the Patagonia parkas for the winter!
I must have the UGG cozette slipper! I’ll be working from home for CPS this fall and I know these will be my go to shoes for the day!
I would buy the Rails plaid shirt, Treasure and Bond Longline Cardigan, and the Calson High Cuff Henley Top just to name a few. This blog post has been super helpful in narrowing down so many great things..not to mention I laughed out loud many times throughout reading it! You are also very right- 2020 has been a rough one and normally I might go a little wild during this sale..your advice talked me off the ledge lol! Gonna play it safe this year and be smart about what I’m buying..so thank you Kelly and Mitch!
I’d love to win!! It would be such a fun treat in this bizarre summer!! Love your posts!! Thanks!
I just had a baby in May and after months of maternity clothes, I can’t stop shopping! … even though I have nowhere to go! But I need lots of clothes because little boy is a spitter :)
Oh but the sweater in your main photo is gorgeous!
This was the BEST summary I’ve seen of the sale – thank you! I also struggle with “justifying” what’s “needed” right now, but some good deals are hard to say no to… I was between a couple of the Tory Burch bags but you’re right, who would get black when they can get red?! I’ll take your advice! Thanks from a fellow Lincoln Park resident :)
LOVING the sneaker recs.
You can best bet that I’d be buying some Hanky Panky thongs not only because most thongs are The Worst, but also because your description made me lol.
Also a tip for anyone interested in the Madewell cardigan included in the sale- I used to work at Madewell and that cardigan pills like crazy! Pretty much every season people would come in angry that their cardigan had pilled so much. Wouldn’t recommend!
So excited about the sale!!! I’d love a nano-puff. A great supplement to a wardrobe next to my Barbour. With that coat I’d be set for every occasion!
Hi Kelly! I love your blog and your beautiful family so much! If I won the $500, I would spend it on some cozy cashmere sweaters. I am an east coast teacher who is going back full time in the classroom so I need some cute styles to match my mask HAAYYOO!! Look good, feel good, right??? That’s my motto! Keep shining your light lady!
I’m expecting so I should be checking out the baby section, but imma be real with you and admit I would get a Barefoot Dreams cardigan, some Hanky Panky underwear and the J.Crew leopard sweater jacket. This will be my second and I should have all the baby stuff I need already…….right? That’s probably a hard no but whatevs I have a few months to figure it out ♀️ #treatyoself
Even with the sale that $500 won’t go far and I’d like to s. ay I’d start my day working out I and wore all the soft zella items because I love their feel but I totally just thought about it before I jumped in the shower with my Olaplex set then hoped Bobbie Brown could make me look alive. Then time to throw on any rails shirt with the wit and wisdom jeans that fit amazing plus my mule chain shoes by madden, grabbed that classic tory birch tote and wished I could leave quarantine and head out the door!!!!!
I think the Larkins need to go total sorority and pain a cooler for the Chicago beaches like they’re headed to a fr aternity beach weekend! Noodle would look fabulous painted on the side of a cooler!!!!! My son and I painted one and he let me help we have been so bored!!!! Thanks for always keeping us enlightened!!!
I would love ALL of the blazers so I can look like the ultimate boss bitch fashionista lady lawyer at recruiting events / interviews this winter. And sweaters because I’ll be spending all of my time in the library until then. Love you guys!!!
I’d love those snakeskin booties or the beautiful cardigan you have… Or both! ❤️
I love that you still haven’t updated the link to the “Wit and Whimsy” jeans – thank you for always keeping it real! Especially during COVID, your content has been so refreshing. Has Mitch put away his suitcase yet???
Hi! Just wanted to say I love your blog and been following it since was Emma was a little baby!! If I had $500 to spend at the Nordstrom’s sale, I would totally buy a barefoot dreams blanket and a Barbour jacket!! I am about to go to college and would love some new additions to my wardrobe!! My favorite joke, that I think is hilarious, is “Who raised you? A pack of hotdogs?” I’m here all night hahaha
I want to enter to win, but when I click on the hyperlinked “click here” it takes me to Nordstrom.
If I won I would buy all the colors of the Steve Madden slides because I am obsessed and my shoe collection still has not quite recovered from my pup’s early days, the bb Dakota plaid blazer so maybe I can stop wearing my moms hand me downs to meetings, and the Tory burch Carson leather tote just because.
Funny comment bonus entry: today I humble bragged on my instagram story that my toddler is potty training really well.
Tonight she shit the tub. Again.
I’m diving into the Kelly special tonight: $6 bottles of wine ❤️
I want allll of the loungewear and the Patagonia /north face jackets for baby girl + those adorable adidas sneakers :)
Save me and my credit card from the damage coming haha
Rag & Bone Hat! My hopes are I can leave the house for fall outdoor drinks with friends. Plus I don’t have to do my hair!
Ahhh!! All such good finds. I’m getting married in 3 months so would love to find some great mini-moon pieces for Door County WI!! I’m thinking blazers, chunky sweaters, flat chic booties. Does that scream wife??
I live and die by the Kelly and the City’s Anniversary sale pics!!
Hi Kelly!! New & huge fan of your beautiful insta!! I’d LOVE to use some Nordstrom $ for those gorgeous Marc Fisher booties, a great pair of jeans and that Tory Burch cross body. Best part would be the fun of picking!! I’m a fellow LP resident so all your fall pics feel extra apropos!
Per your insta, yes, MAC machine it is!! I’m from Philly area, with all the “wudder”, Hoagies and “Vol-vows”. Been in Chicago for 4 years with the east coast dialect to stay!
Definitely the Le Pliage Expandable Tote! I’ve been looking at their bags for YEARS! I also want a barefoot dreams blanket to see why every blogger ever is so in love
If I won, I would spend it on a wardrobe update because I’m a PhD student (starting in 2 weeks!) in educational theory and practice. I need more options that don’t scream “overtired-virtual-teacher-stay-at-home-mom” and hint a little more about “she’s a professional, she’s got this”
I know y’all are educators and I would LOVE to win! That teaching assistantship does NOT pay a living wage
I’d absolutely grab that ALLSAINTS sweater, and it would finally be time for some over the knee boots.
My funny anecdote is that the other day I made coffee…without putting any grounds in the coffee maker. HA. Had some nice light brown water because I also hadn’t cleaned the coffee maker recently. Great move.
So, legitimately, so many of the beauty items (Living Proof + Olaplex hair care, Diorshow mascara, all the Charlotte Tilbury) that I already use and adore are in the sale! I’m also in need of some new jeans, as is the hubs, so we would have to hit up both of those! How is Emma doing with her bike now that her seat is set? I never learned to ride a bike () so glad to see she is trying so hard!
This was amazingly helpful! Thank you so much!! I’m definitely eyeing the Tory Burch section haha
I have been eyeing the Gold Birkenstock Jesus Sandals for the past year! :)
I think it’s time for me to invest in my first Patagonia fleece to perfect my wfh look. Not a funny comment bc corona and a black our have eaten away my sense of humor.
I just had my second baby girl (fellow girl mom) so definitely Spanx for postpartum. And some athleisure wear to pretend I have the time to work out this fall… chasing a 2 year old is considered a workout right?
I always get the best sweater recs from you for the sale!
To answer your ATM vs. MAC question – my mom still says “I need to tap MAC” if she’s going to the ATM. I would definitely buy a new pair of faux leather spanx. They were perfect the first few months of quarantine!
Hi Larsons! Thanks for this incredibly thorough round-up, I feel like I need a glass of wine to go through it all. I’m trying to stay optimistic that fall and winter will bring us more freedom to go out and do things, and see people we miss. Realistically, I’m shopping for weekend jeans, Spanx leggings (in case I am called back to the office, yikes!), Ugg slippers to ungraded my lounge wear, and a new signature necklace. Now that I don’t shop as often and buy frivolous things, I’m looking to invest in higher quality pieces.
All of this looks good. I miss shopping IRL. Thank God for Nordy’s great return policy.
Who are the Larsons???? Maybe I did get into that wine! ♀️
Clare V in the sale?! Amazing, yes please!
Love all of these pics! Now I’m hoping things get restocked
I feel like I’m wanting all of the fall cardigans and booties. I spent so much of spring wearing either scrubs (high risk essential worker over here) or lounge clothes that I missed out on anything cute for transitioning weather. Also I watch your stories on my lunch break and I want college Emm to be my friend. The cutest thing EVER!
We need to pick up the Nuna Rava for our little buddy who’s ready to move into a convertible car seat!
I’d probably replace my current pair of jeans that is on the verge of failure and the fabled Barefoot Dreams cardigan! But maybe I should buy towels and some rainboots, since my toddler just peed a trail to the bathroom? Two years old is a roller coaster!
Booties, all the barefoot dreams, bras, and pajamas! Maybe even that Carol Baskin thong!
Anything barefoot dreams for more cozy time at home!!
All the Zella leggings!
Loving the Nordstrom Signature cashmere sweaters! Like pjs on top, but zoom call appropriate, right!?!
Currently all I’m wearing is lounge wear or scrubs. Hoping to add a few outfits that are a bit more pulled together/ get me out of the COVID 19 funk but at the same time Fall is coming and I do love oversized cozy sweaters….
So many cute things this year!
I would buy clothes and shoes for my children.
I would love to update my boots. Chicago winters are tough on them. And, some new PJ’s because I kinda wear them most of the day!
I’m buying a dressy dress for all the 2020 events that were postponed until next year Love following your account!
I really love how you split it up by category!! So helpful for me, an OCD freak
Omg! I have been adding things to my cart all day. I’m definitely going to grab an Olaplex set and I’m moving soon— so I think some of the Nordstrom cotton percale sheets. They look so. soft.
Also— I just want to know what kind of wine you and Mitch were drinking while you wrote this. I need.
The “INDOORSY” Suburban Riot sweatshirt. Fitting for how 2020 has gone AND supports my preference to avoid nature beyond taking my dog for a walk!
Love this roundup of all the best NSale items!! So helpful for when I get to shop!
I love your picks! I appreciate that you’re being relevant to the times and peoples situations with these years Sale.
I am considering several of the beauty products here, as well as the classic Barbour! Love your taste and that you shared so many classic pieces!
So I just had a baby! And I’ve realized the importance of being as comfortable as possible at all times so I would buy the barefoot dreams cardigan.
Kristenrfrost (at) gmail (dot) con
Love your pics this year! Classic and comfortable!
Hi Kelly!! If I won the $500 I’d finally buy myself a winter coat. I’ve been wearing the same one for years because I’m too lazy to look for a good quality coat and every Fall I say “This year I’m going to get a good winter coat” and by the time winter is over I still haven’t bought one!
Definitely in the market for some joggers, sneakers and workout clothes! Anddddd maybe some sweaters for fall because a girl always needs more sweaters!
I’d buy your new laundry room faucet because then my husband wouldn’t be like “how’d you spend $500 on clothes at Nordstrom” and I could get away with it because it’s gorgeous. Oh and a barefoot dreams cardigan because isn’t everyone buying one of those?
Hello! Thank you for this! It’s exactly what I needed toady.
If I won, I would buy that Barbour Riselaw Raincoat in Serpentine Green so fast my computer might short circuit (I kid. my personal computer is new new and needs to get some use. Run free, computer! Run! And do some online shopping!). Also, I live alone and haven’t had a hug since March and I need to spend my feelings. Maybe I’ll need lots of cozy socks, too.
Hi Kelly! Thank you for the giveaway. I’m excited to buy some fun things for my home (maybe a nice throw for the couch) or some pj sets. I am so excited, my husband and I are moving soon and we are moving from a condo to a town home . I’m so excited for my new place! However, my husband and I have had a lot of conversations/slight disagreements on the decor. For instance rugs under dining tables, are you yay or nay? While I do enjoy a good rug, I feel that they are kind of a scam. In that you spend a lot of money on nice floors only to spend even more money buying rugs. lol
Such great options! I’ve been eyeing the Barbour jacket for a few years and really would love to purchase a navy one.
I would buy lingerie, slippers, socks,
Diptyque candles and something cashmere.
I’ve heard so much about the Barefoot Dreams cardigans and would love to buy one of those!
I would buy the top shop ribbed cardigan. Actually all cardigans in the sale as that is what I’m living in currently!
So for two months a family heirloom was missing, yet somehow it was found this week. I mentioned to my dad- do you believe in miracles? He was like do you know what that’s from and I was like no isn’t it just a statement.
Turns out it’s from the 1980 Olympics and used in Miracles the movie. When I shared this on my insta stories I was flooded with people who couldn’t get over my unknown knowledge of this.
Just sharing oh and I dropped a tomato down my shirt; fell into my bra and I didn’t realize right away!
So that’s my week!
Love this guide when I don’t have time to shop myself with three little kids, thanks for the recommendations!
I could totally use some new Zella leggings for my “virtual teaching” wardrobe! Maybe paired with a new blazer? Business on the top….
Laughing out loud at some of these reviews – such a great nsale roundup. After the last few months I truly don’t know what my style even is these days so I’m focused on home/beauty – give me all the Nest candles, chunky knit throws & normally too expensive…and still to expensive but they’re on sale so I NEED to buy…beauty products.
All the Zella leggings! And tops for Zoom meetings (with pjs on bottom).
Hmmm I’d definitely pick out some new pajamas, maybe a cardigan from barefoot dreams, and likely some underwear. I have an adorable rat (dog) who likes to chew underwear so I have less than I’d like currently. Thank goodness he’s so cute!
Sweaters, tees, and pants!
I would buy a white dress (or 2! ) for my upcoming bridal showers!
I would buy a Barbour coat!! Would love to invest in my first one for fall!
This one is your best yet! So many great items!!!
A tory burch purse? New shoes, New leggings, make up! Lol too many choices
If I am going to keep working from home with the BF I am going to require a whole pile of very soft blankets that will soothe me and help me to forget the ever growing mess that he leaves in his path.
I’m a first time momma to be, so I’m hoping to snag the uppababy stroller! I love the color of the Stella!
Love this list! I’m eyeing the red Tory Burch crossbody, Spanx leather leggings, and the Barefoot Dreams throw!
I have never shopped the Nordstrom Sale but I think it would be a perfect time to get some clothes for the new school year!
The Nordstrom Bliss Throw- but a his and hers so that my husband doesn’t constantly steal mine away at night but still claim that he’s not cold. And let’s be real- all the cozy PJs
I love that cardigan in the leaf photo. Looks great on you!!!
I’m usually so excited about fall … but because I won’t be going into an office anytime soon, it definitely takes a bit of the fun out of fall outfits! But maybe I will just have to start dressing up all fancy to work from home!
I am not ready for fall! But have my eye on some Frye booties in the sale…
As tempting as that tiger thong is , I think that since I’ll be homeschooling my first grader through this pandemic season , I’d probably stock up on some cozy teacher-chic loungewear that will make me feel like I got actually “dressed” without sacrificing comfort. Oh and some Patagucci too.
I absolutely love your posts. I’m definitely a shopping addict.
So ready for fall! Thank you for the awesome guide!!
Thank you for working so hard to bring us these picks!!! I’m an UGG convert too!!!
Chunky sweaters and athleisure of course – but I’d be lying if I didn’t say at least part of it would go to kids clothes because if I get one more kids clothing charge on our account I might end up divorced…
I have been eyeing over the knee boots for two winters now, and I think it’s about time I jump on it. I would buy the Stuart Weitzman version—simple but classic. And here in the Great White North (AKA Minneapolis), I am hoping they’ll keep my bird legs warmer
I’ve got my eye on the snakeskin booties, a fleece pullover and the barefoot dreams cardigan . I also think the kids need the Patagonia pullovers for our New England trip this Fall!
Entertaining AND useful! It’s hard to think about winter clothes in the middle of the summer. This is so helpful to put together a shopping list of “staples”! Thanks!
Love the barefoot dreams sweater!!
I would buy a little bit of everything for everyone – so many birthdays coming up after a challenging summer, with holidays to follow! ❤️
If I won, I would buy the La Canadienne waterproof chelsea boots :)
Love your picks! I must be crazy to be lusting after coats in 90-degree heat but that would totally be my first choice.
I love all of your picks! I have my eye on the waffle knit cardigan you have on in the picture! Also some brown booties.
I would buy the Ugg booties in all three colors. A girl needs options, even if she may never leave the house again!
I’d buy a handful of cardigans and my favorite face cream.
Thanks for sharing your family with us – I have loved watching your girls grow up! I have tons of weddings to attend next year (hopefully no more rescheduling) so if I won the $500, I would use it to buy some new wedding guest dresses!!
If I won, I think I would treat myself to some staples that are a little pricier than the things I normally buy … maybe a really nice pair of boots, or a nice coat?
Kelly let’s be honest, I’ve been pent up in NYC during quarantine eating way too many chicken parms – I will definitely be getting all the workout gear so I can get myself back in shape
Can’t wait to shop!!! Looking for some staples for my baby girl this year ☺️
Ahh so many great finds! If I won the $500, I’d probably get some Hunter boots, which I’ve had my eye on for awhile! I’m way too thrifty (AKA cheap) to buy them on my own though!! Plus I’d get some new baby stuff since I have a little girl on the way (and she should definitely be better dressed than me!).
I always love seeing your Nordstrom guide, so many good picks! Loving the Carole Baskin themed thong this time around. If I win the $500 I’d splurge on a Barbour jacket finally! And maybe get my wiener dog, Fritz, a Barefoot Dreams dog sweater for our next Polar Vortex. ☺️
I’d love to buy the Cole Haan boots in suede bone! Fall is my favorite season!
Fall is my favorite season eveeeer, and I just moved to Chicago from Mexico so I’m super excited to live on a place where you can experience fall.
If I’m the lucky winner, I would love to get the spandex faux leather leggings… I think they are a must for fall and winter. Some over the knee boots would be great since I don’t have a lot of fall shoes…. I would also love anything from JCREW! I love that brand and I don’t have anything from them… a Tory Burch tote and definitely some Olaplex products for my hair and I’m also dying to try the TULA skincare products… pleaseeee PICK ME!!! During this quarantine I’ve been entering every giveaway I can find and I still haven’t got lucky… maybe is because the universe was saving me for this GIVEAWAY from a fellow Chicago resident. Greeting Larking family! PS I’m a big noodles fan!
Covid pandemic has me wanting all the loungewear and in need of Spanx leggings! I’ll be purchasing comfy clothes is I win. :)
I’m also excited for fall… and to shop the Nordstrom Sale! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this LONG list together! I’m due with #2 (a girl!!) 11/6 so I love all the cardigans/sweaters, booties and baby/kid stuff!! My little guy is just a little older than Lucy
Who doesn’t deserve a shopping spree after this crazy year!!! Cannot wait to shop all the sales
well…i would NOT buy the photo op print thong ;)…but i WOULD buy all of the plaid things!
I am in love with the Clare V offerings this year and would probably buy one of her bags. That and possibly a cashmere sweater since I feel like at 35 it’s probably time to occasionally buy something “classy”
I need a new winter coat and am looking at the North Face.
Barefoot dreams blanket and anthropology candles are what I am eyeing from the Nordstrom sale!!
Love all the items from Frame and Allsaints!
I loooove a good candle, and even more when they are on sale!
Amazing overview! Can’t wait to grab a few new fall pieces.
I would LOVE to get my hands on a new Barbour coat and a cashmere sweater this year. Mama deserves it, am I right?
Love all of these picks! I’m a teacher, and I’d love to treat myself before this school year
Pick me!
Can’t hardly wait for my turn – thanks for the inspiration
Can’t wait to buy all of the soft and fuzzy things—that cardigan in your pic, fuzzy socks, and a new throw!
Since I’ve decided I should probably start wearing real clothes again, I have the Madewell high waisted skinny jeans and Calson lace top at the top of my list. Something that will help me feel put together as I move from my bedroom to the dining room to teach all of my new Kindergarteners!
I also can’t resist buying something sweet and matching for my two nieces! Loving the Tucker & Tate joggers!
Was this the most relatable and genuine guide I’ve read to date? Yes. Did I put the Rag & Bone jeans and BB face base on my Wish List? Also yes.
Thank you for taking time to write this review. It really is one of the most beneficial ones out there!!
Coats, boots, and workout gear are my favorite things to stock up on during the Nordstrom sale. I wasn’t super excited about the sale this year, but having some top picks helped! Is it wrong to want to teach summer school next year to spend the extra money on the sale?!
Added many of these items to my wish list! Hope you and your family are doing well. Lots of cozy quarantine items!
All things fall – sweaters, coats, and boots (not that I will have anywhere to wear them but a girl can dream).
If I won I’d snatch a barefoot dreams blanket, candle, that hilarious thong(jk) but kinda tempted, and some comfy clothes I can wear while I teach from home!
Xoxo Kenzie
I’d love a nice cashmere sweater! And maybe a comfy lounge set :)
Thanks for this awesome guide!!
Thank you for doing this so awesome!
Your must have was not what I expecting but it completely fits with 2020 thank you for that!
I would love to finally try the Spanx leggings. I think I would also splurge on some of the beauty products like Opalex and the T3 roller or a really nice scent!
Love this! Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to shop the sale !
Love your style Kelly! Thanks for all the recommendations – adding to my wish list now :)
love the cozy sweated and boots! Thank you!!
The barefoot dreams waffle cardigan looks like a dream!
Fun fact: The full name of Barbie the toy is Barbie Millicent Roberts and she is from (fictional) Willows Wisconsin!
Rebecca (dot) Dennee (@) gmail (dot) com
I would most definitely get 100 pairs of the barefoot dreams socks, because WOW so soft and I’d get anything that’s Nike, because athliesure is all I wear right now :)
If I had $500 to spend on the sale, I’d buy my teacher sister a cute outfit, myself all the cute fall outfits (sorry I love fall!) and my ER doc resident husband some workout clothes!
Something funny: “did you know that the first French Fries weren’t actually cooked in France? They were cooked in Greece”
Would love to buy some new fall clothes with all of your amazing recommendations! I especially love the leather leggings and barefoot dreams blanket, but there’s too many to choose just a few. :)
This is so useful. Thank you, Kelly!
I’d buy pajamas, because one can never have too many pajamas. I’d also buy a warm winter coat, because I really need go replace mine in time for the cold and snow we know is coming.
All the baby things!! And lots of tops for me since apparently my boobs are never going back to their pre-baby size. Lol!
All the spanx to suck in the c-section pooch…from 3 years ago! ♀️
I love your guide! I want it all, but I’m pregnant so that won’t work. I would stock up on some
face base, some cute boots, a pair of loafers, stretchy pants and of course something for my 3 year old daughter. Because she would automatically say “what did you get me!?”
The Ugg socks + a jacket!
Sooooo many good finds!!! Online shopping has been my retail therapy during COVID. Haha…
All the sweaters plz. Chicago is too cold
The Ugg slippers!!! Or a Barbour, your baby in a Barbour post was precious and really made me want one (a baby and a Barbour) Love following along with your adorable fam- hope Noodle gets her bed back soon!
I would get a Barbour jacket!… and those uggs socks.
I am a first time homebuyer in Chicago and have loved watching your home renovations! I am most excited to buy awesome accents from the sale that I normally wouldn’t splurge on! I’m also a huge workout fanatic and could go wild on new clothes and running shoes!
Oh my goodness – my wish list is full already! I’m thinking oversized free people sweater, a pair of Nike kicks, slippers, a few other sweaters and shoes. I’m loving that houndstooth coat you linked and I’d love a few of the gorgeous blazers…. But let’s be honest, I’m probably not going to wear it for a loooooong time! I worked from home before this pandemic and also have to chase my 2 year old around, so comfy is best!
I would buy myself a fancy candle from Diptyque. I bought one at the beginning of the pandemic and it’s all gone now! But a nice way to cheer up the house. Also, a nice winter coat for my son. He’s 16 months old and loves playing outside. There wasn’t any snow for him last winter here in PA but maybe this year will be different!
I would loooooove to purchase a Tory Burch bag or Hunter boots!!! Loved this roundup of items!
I’ll be working from home for the rest of the year, and I’m pretty sure my go-to leggings are starting to hide from me each morning in my closet. That being said, I would definitely splurge on a few pairs of Zella leggings and joggers. I am definitely not one of those people that work from home in actual clothes, so new leggings would be a god-send!
As a Florida girl this sale always feels like such a tease since it will be a good 6 months before I can wear fall clothes! I have always dreamed of living somewhere with seasons! I would get some leopard loafers, invest in some nice jeans and treat myself to a nice bag!
I would buy over the knee boots! I’ve never had them before, but been dying to try them. New mom here (my baby is three weeks old) and I feel like I haven’t been put together in ages, so this will help me get it together with my clothing ensembles! Haha!
I am pregnant with my second baby due in December (a girl!) so I love some of your options like boots and the cardigans so I can feel put together! Love your baby items too and totally thinking that I will NEED a barefoot cardigan and socks for this winter and to bring with me to the hospital. This will be my first Nordstrom sale and I’m excited to shop, not so much my husband and our credit card hahaha! Thanks for all the great insight!
Definitely need the long pajamas, ugg socks, BareFoot dreams blanket, and an Anthropologie candle, add a big glass of red wine and I’ll be snug as a bug in a rug throughout the brutal Chicago winter.
Great guide, Kelly! If I won, I want to say I’m going to get some cute new jeans and boots, but let’s be honest, it’s probably going to joggers, cozy tops, and all the fuzzy socks!
Dying to buy the Dry Bar roller dryer, a pair of Vejas and a barefoot dreams cardigan
Something funny…I mean you can laugh at the fact that I was so bored during my WFH that I watched the guys at the construction site across the street paint and entire side of a building quarantine is getting to me!
I have my eye on the navy blue Barbour quilted jacket, and some new boots! I am trying to slowly update my wardrobe from college clothes to a more professional wardrobe! I love your guides. I also want to mention that myself, my step-mom, my boyfriend, and my high school aged brother are all OBSESSED with Noodle. Especially Lake Noodle and Pool Noodle and Lucy and Emma with Noodle. What a precious pup :) Sending you good wishes! – Mila
I can’t wait to cozy up in Barefoot Dreams this fall working from home!!! And maybe new booties for a walk around the block!
I’d get as many Spanx leggings as $500 can buy because baking has become my quarantine hobby. They make you look skinny and psychologically if you’re wearing leggings, don’t you burn more calories, right? No really, I’d get my daughter some cute outfits because 8 month olds grow so fast!!
What a great post! I’d love to win the $500. My one year old needs new clothes!!!
Omg! T3 curling iron
Hi Kelly!!
LOVE all the Barbour! In fact, if I got the gift card, I would finally get myself one!! I would also neeeeed the coveted barefoot dreams blanket (still haven’t made the purchase but I’ve pet the blankets a million times in the store), and some cute PJs since I’m working from home all the time! If I had it in the budget, I might even get me some new booties! *miss new booty always plays in my head when I type out “booties”*
I hope you and Mitch and the girls are staying sane! I love watching your real life stories!! It makes me feel not so crazy making me bed at 6pm everyday
– Kourtney
Ahh I would love a pair of new white Nike sneakers or Madewell jeans for the new school year! Even if I have to go to college remotely and nobody would see them lol! Maybe I can be stylish for all my professors at Zoom University ha:)
It’s not the most exciting but I actually just want to stock up on staples from Nordstrom. I want to get some more Caslon rounded v-neck T-shirts and some zella leggings. I also really want another Nordstrom bliss throw. I have one now and love it so much. So soft!!! And holds up well to washing. It’s a dream.
Thanks for putting together such a big list!
I would buy some Zella leggings because QUARANTINE and some Wit and Wisdom jeans and animal print loafers because I sure as heck hope I’ll be able to get dressed and go somewhere sometime soon. Maybe a Tory Burch or Longchamp bag too.
I love this round up! I want it all. Considering I am pregnant and live in Virginia and it’s so hot right now I would grab some booties, face base and a barefoot cardigan. I would also snag something for my 3 year old daughter because everything is “what did you get ME!?”
I would use the gift card to buy a refreshed work wardrobe as I just moved back home to Chicago and got a job offer today!! Yay!
Meaghan[dot]foody16[at]gmail[dot]com
I would definitely buy the giraffe at home faux fur and satin robe along with several sets of matching pajamas! My pjs and robe have gotten some SERIOUS miles put on them in the last several months and could use a major upgrade
Your guide was the best last year!! I made sure to click through the blog links to nordys site so you got the commission!
I’d buy a perfect first-day-of-school outfit for my last first day of school (finishing my MBA!). I’ll be remote this fall, so it would be so much fun to get the should-have-been perfect outfit
I am A sucker for Barefoot dreams- I wear their blanket while wfh… only makes sense to buy their clothing so when I stand up on video calls I’m not wrapped in a blanket skirt…. I also have ALL of your baby clothing picks on my wish list! Thanks for such a comprehensive guide!
I’ve been dying for a new leather jacket and want some combat boots (even though my sister says I’m too old for them!)
A nicer car seat for my babe. Probably only stuff for my baby girl if I’m being honest!
Love your style
Mama is looking to invest in new bras since I’m finally NOT nursing anymore!!! Sorry if that’s tmi, Mitch! Love you guys!!!
I’m planning to buy a set of MAC lipglosses in as a show of optimism (to myself) that people will eventually see my mouth in public again also a Patagonia better sweater because it’s really the most outerwear you ever need in Nashville!
Quarantine me says buy 29 Carole Baskin thongs (ha!) But I’m eyeing the Barbour quilted jacket and lots of cozy sweaters!
First of all LOVED this guide and the witty comments throughout made me laugh so hard the Nordstrom sale this year had me not excited but I think I’d buy some barefoot dreams blanket/loungewear and my fiancé is in desperate need of a wardrobe change so probably would use the money towards that
Love this! Have had my eye on the Spanx faux leather leggings…and all the boots!
I’ll basically buying all the “fancy” pajamas since the work from home life seems to be here to stay!
Hi, Kelly, I’d buy the cashmere camel coat and that black Free People sweater you like! Is College Emma eyeing the Blondo over-the-knee boots?
Hi Kelly! Love your blog and a long time follower :). I got engaged last year, and my fiancé and I bought our first house house in May this year (yes, mid-pandemic!). Prior to living in this house, we lived with his parents for ~7 years while Alex (aforementioned fiance) finished school. As a result of this, neither my self nor Alez can cook to save our lives . Currently experimenting with home chef, and it’s go sub par, to say the least. So to answer your question, with the $500 gift card to the nsale, i would love to stock up on those amazing smelling candles they have, to help our poor nostrils as we try to salvage them from the multiple burnt/messed up dinners (just this week). I hope our cooking downfalls brought you a good chuckle today!
Wow, and i clearly cant type on my iphone tonight (to be fair, it is broken). Should say, “Alex” and “its going sub par, to say the least”.
Definitely a Barbour coat!! And those Steve Madden cognac booties
I’d love to be able to splurge a little. I got married during the quarantine- well, actually eloped! Had to cancel our wedding, so I’d love a little pick me up, as even though I’m happy we eloped and so grateful to be married, I still get sad that I didn’t have our wedding and we had to cancel our honeymoon, too. Plus, on top of it all, I’m a teacher! While it is somewhat likely I’ll be doing some virtual teaching come fall, I’d love to have a pair of cozy UGGS or one of those Barefoot Dreams blankets to keep me company.
Love this post, Kelly!
Your round up is great because you group by brand/designer! I would love to snatch up the Barbour Barn Jacket. Hopefully we have a real Fall in Chicago this year so I can wear it before the puffer comes out! Also… my eye is on anything Barefoot Dreams. Buying the blanket during quarantine was one of the best decisions yet… and now I’m obsessed! Perfect for cozying up with a glass of wine and the pup to watch 5 straight episodes of Riverdale. My fiancé says the blanket is too warm so more for me! :)
I love fall! Fave time of the year! Such a great time for new leggings and cardigans to wear to work cause not going many other exciting places with quarantines! Who wouldn’t love a shopping spree???
Sooooo many choices but def coveting a Barbour jacket and some Spanx leggings! And some denim, and some shoes, and some accessories. Going to need a bigger closest!
If I won the $500 I would split it with my mom and then proceed to purchase myself the favorite daughter tee that’s in the sale this year! But seriously, that Tee is on my list as well as some good fall basics like cozy sweaters, leggings, and of course a barefoot dreams blanket!! Loved your guide this year and can’t wait to start shopping!
A few months postpartum with baby girl #3 so I plan to stock up on the Zella live-in leggings!!!
Love the sale breakdown!
I would love to upgrade my outerwear/coat for the upcoming winter season in NY. Perhaps also pick up a cozy barefoot cardigan for the fall.
Currently writing in my candlelight living room, thanks Isaias. No power since Tuesday but at least we didn’t have any damage and the worst is no power.
Loved seeing your selection from the sale. My picks include a new winter coat, and of course athleisure- my capsule wardrobe at the moment. Another pair of sneakers for my daily walks is tempting too.
I have to say, I think I’d stock up on fall/winter clothes for my 16 month old! That and maybe some new workout shoes/clothes for me :)
Defs getting a pair of the matching navy short set pajamas! My existing jcrew pair recently got a hole ripped in them by my boyfriend’s washing machine. Was probably time anyway, they were old!
This is such a great review of the sale! I would buy the barefoot dreams throw (my 8 month old got a barefoot dreams baby blanket when she was born and I’ve been jealous ever since). I would also try to snag her first pair of boots for her! Oh, how I wish I had something entertaining to share. I watched frozen 2 (alone) for the first time last night while drinking wine and coloring a wine themed coloring book my friend sent me. I laughed out loud when Olaff called out for Samantha. I trust you will be familiar with this scene . Has COVID lowered my standard for movies or is Olaff just the best even when you’re 31?
Love your picks!!
Would LOVE the Spanx faux leather leggings!
Super exciting! Honestly looking to buy some fall items, some nike shoes ( need boost to start working out again) and because of the oandemic I have been redecorating my place so a few home items.
I had a horrific fall during lockdown and suffered 3 life changing fractures. My leg ankle, and foot will be swollen for at least a year while I rehabilitate, according to my doctor. So, I’m in desperate need of new shoes! I would buy and greatly appreciate some new nikes and boots! No more heels for me ♀️
I love your blog. Thanks for the great content and inspiration!
Love everything Barbour!!
This is so amazing!! Your post is filled with SO many good items! I would look into some more cute boots, a nice sweater for my mom, a dressy outfit for my sister and a special treat for myself probably in the form of a wallet or bag!
If I won I’d buy the Ruffle V-Neck Ponte Sheath Dress by Eliza J. It’s cute for a summer outdoor party but also a comfortable and appropriate work from home option. A cute clothes purchase I can put to use now, and later!!
I adore you all so much! You make me desperately miss Chicago and wish we had stayed after having our 2 girls and did it all like you…seriously down to your new laundry room! now we have 5 sweet kiddos and are living in STL closer to family. I like to think I still got it ♀️ Although the tiger commando is suppeerrr tempting I’d likely go for some over the knee boots as well. Oh and also need an updated eberjey cotton jams- let’s be real. Moms tired! You’re whole family is adorable and love all you share! Cheers xo
Oh my gosh, I would love the spanx faux leather leggings (because, you know spanx!)
I’m so excited to shop the sale this year!! You picked some great items from the different categories! I can’t wait to shop, I feel like I spend all of my money there so I don’t know how I don’t have access now
I actually need boots and a barn coat, just like in you post!!
Hi Kelly,
I will buy Dr. Dennis Skincare DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro LED Light Therapy Device If I can win the $500 gift card. I’m expecting my #2 baby girl late October, and I already know that sleepless nights and days with newborn will make my skin very dry and tired in cold Chicago. Hope this giveaway makes my postpartum period being more enjoyable ;)
The best time to stock up on good quality staples…and fall is my favorite. I am drooling over the Barefoot Dreams and Leith cardigans, boots (REALLY need to replace a couple pairs from the NSALE a few years ago), eyeing the vanity mirror…and maybe a new fall hat for fun.
Planning on stocking up on some baby gear essentials and clothing for my first baby who is set to make his arrival in just a few weeks (fingers crossed)!
Oh my, so many good things! I’m really eyeing up that Patagonia jacket and a pair of booties. But realistically, probably just some comfy high waisted leggings so I can comfortably emotional eat my way through 5th grade (and 1st and Pre K)
I love everything you’ve picked out from the anniversary sale. Love following you and your uplifting yet real life posts! Thank you!!
Oops I forgot to say what I would buy! I definitely want a barefoot dreams blanket and pajamas. Because ya know, all the warm a fuzzies are needed to survive a Wisconsin winter!
Love channeling Emma’s style for my 4 year old girl, but I need you to have a baby boy so I’ll stop trying to match my 2 year old boy to Lucy.
Oh, and I would definitely buy the kids uggs!
Great guide! I didn’t think I was going to shop the sale this year, but have since changed my mind.
I love this round up! I am always so overwhelmed by the amount of things on sale and its awesome to see a quick guide. I would love to use the giftcard to clean up my skincare routine with new and better products!
I would stock up on tons of summer staples as i’m moving to florida at the end of the month!!
I would get myself some new Zella maternity leggings because I’m still trying to squeeze my pregnant belly into my regular leggings and it just isn’t cute anymore. :)
I would love to get the Barbour Riversdale Quilted Trench Coat since like you said- I love the look of a trench coat but actually need it to be warm!
As for an interesting fact: did you know that koalas are only social for 15 minutes a day? I follow an Instagram account called @sadanimalfacts and they share interesting facts about animals with cute drawings!
Thank you for the post and for the respite from what is our world right now—even just a few minutes of browsing helps it feel like things are “normal” … I just had my third baby this past fall and we are moving this fall, plus have two kids with food allergies, one of whom is starting kindergarten—I would love to try ANYTHING from Barefoot Dreams to curl up in as I try to keep my sanity!
And my daughter is almost exactly Emma’s age so I have been following along the Elsa highs and lows in real time! Margaret told me today to “let it go” ♀️❄️
I would snuggle up in a cozy sweater in ANY of those coats! Love the Cole wrap coat!
Such a great post on the sale. I get the gift card.
Hi Kelly, I love your blog! I had my eye on the waxed Barbour barn jacket, but just found out I’m pregnant! So now I have my eye on the Patagonia with the ears and the jogging stroller as well.
Thanks for compiling! I appreciate how you made categories, there are so many items I find it overwhelming but your guide is helpful!
Hi Kelly! Love this post! I’d buy the ugg shearling bootie for myself and another pair of uggs for my mom! I’d also get a pair of the spanx faux leather leggings to suck in my quarantine belly.
Pet noodle for me!
I will buy lots of shoes!
Well… I may have had one or two glasses of wine too many when I’m commenting on this… thanks Covid and first week of new teacher orientation in Texas …. But I love how real and honest your blog is. I appreciate that you don’t sugar coat things or try to sell things that are not worth it. If I were to win, I would def buy a Tory Burch purse or ya know some nice tops to go along with the jeans I can wear the first 9 weeks of teaching 2nd grade… Hahahaha the only good thing Covid has done for teaching… Dress down Friday every single day so we can “be comfortable cleaning!” Okay…. thanks! But I hope you and your adorable fam squad are safe and doing well.
One of my quarentine goals is to come of this with my “Look” more established. Definitely would use this to aid in that progress!
I realized I forgot to say what I would get…thanks goodness tomorrow is TGIF! I plan to start with jeans and am loving your suggestions. The Rag and Bone ones jumped out at me.
Probably some staples like new bras because quarantine in uncomfortable bras is even less fun! I’ve also been eying the Free People slouchy sweater and maybe some fun leopard mules. But who knows!
Love your blog!
I would buy a Barbour coat, lots of loungewear/activewear and a couple sets of Nordstrom moonlight pajamas. All about the comfort for quarantine – and preparing for winter since I live in Michigan. I am like Kelly when it comes to being cold literally ALL THE TIME but somehow, still find myself living in an incredibly cold area…
I love this years must have link :)
I’m dying for the leopard Adidas and Free People sweater. I’m a teacher and starting at a new school this year and our mascot is a Leopard, so I’ve felt the urge to buy leopard EVERYTHING! I may have a problem…but I’m ok with it!
I need some Marc Fisher knee high boots so I can loot good while I’m kicking 2020 to the curb. :) For real! Can we just be done with this year?!
*look!! I mean *look* good. It’s that pesky 2020 again messing with me!
Would love to win the $500 to the Nordstrom sale to buy my kiddos some new clothes (they are growing like weeds) and this mama some new clothes ( post baby- bod is in some need of a closet refresh). I have created a full wishlist thanks to your blog so am ready to go on the 19th!
Kelly, This is the best NSale review/blog I’ve read so far! More reviews should definitely be done with a glass of wine. Really looking forward to building up my Georgia “winter” wardrobe – which I’m sure you’d laugh at as Chicagoan. Thanks so much for putting this together!
The Thule double jogging stroller!!! This mom of two girls (mine are the same ages as Emma and Lucy) is in serious need of a workout routine! Our gyms are still closed here, and with the craziness that quarantine has been for our family (work super busy, no child care, etc.), working out has just not been a priority. I’m hoping this stroller could help kick me into gear AND be something my girls enjoy as well :)
Barefoot dreams EVERYTHING + a bottle of wine (yes, a full bottle after the kids go to sleep after a long week during this pandemic) I need to snag another blanket and pair of socks this year. The socks are amazing during the cold winter!
Everything I can!
I actually really need to buy more professional/ business casual clothes! I just started medical school, and many might be surprised to know that most of the time doctors and especially doctors in training wear business casual clothes rather thank scrubs. I am not adequately prepared! I seriously need some of those flats too. My feet would thank me! Of course I’d also buy comfort clothes because the majority of the next two years I will be sitting and studying
Need a new camel coat! Such a nice selection this sale.
I love this sale! I definitely need new leather boots!
I need workout clothes! Contemplating the Zella joggers as well!
I want a Le Pliage nylon bag so bad! Love the expandable version!
Booties/boots all day! Perfect for fall
I feel like I’d buy the most luxurious fall sweaters I could, because fall is my absolute favorite season but honestly I can’t see myself spending money on cute new clothes right now when chances are that no one will even see me outside the house! These past few months have been mentally tough for many of us, and I think the chance to splurge on trivial things that just make us feel good, even temporarily, would be welcomed by many, so thank you for this contest! The UGG slippers also look amazingly comfortable and are something I would never buy myself. Good luck to all and I’ll be sincerely happy for whomever wins!
Oh my gosh! Well this list takes everything I’ve ever needed. It especially feeds my sneaker edition. Thanks for putting this all together! This teacher is gonna pretend to be a baller when the sale opens
I want the cardigans. ALL OF THEM.
I’d buy the leopard cardigan and the low nike sneakers!
Definitely the Maxi Cosi car seat! I also would be veryyy tempted with the Barbour waxed jacket!!
I would love to buy some new jeans or a cute dress like the Delancy Floral Print Silk Midi Dress so I could look like Kate Middleton, but let’s be real, no one is going to be seeing me except my husband for the rest of 2020, so like, I’ll end up buying activewear and underwear because I never cared about that until this pandemic. If i’ve learned anything this pandemic, it’s that I need to appreciate good underwear more….
I would legitimately get all the Barefoot Dreams items I could—I got a robe of theirs for Christmas and the absolute best part of the fact that I’m still working from home is that I can lawyer in my robe!
Oh man I have to be honest, if I had an extra $500 to spend on this sale I’d but new bras! Anyone else anyways feel like they’re in need of bras? Especially now when I have no desire to wear an underwire during WFH. And then I’d investigate those Barbour jackets because a nice raincoat is exactly what I need to get through these Seattle winters. My parka worked when I lived in Chicago, now it just hangs in the closet.
Thank you for putting together such a well organized list!
So fun! I would definitely get some new boots or booties!
I personally am sooo ready for fall! I just love sweaters, boots, and scarves too much! I have my eye on some essential fall/winter pieces from Nordstrom. This will be my first year teaching, so I am looking to update my “teacher style”!
A much needed high chair for our kids and really anything baby and kid related.. como tomo bottles, stokke high chair etc. Maybe a little something for myself thrown in there. Eyeing a winter jacket or some new boot if possible :)
This is such a great post! I have my eye on so many things this year. If I had the extra money, I would probably have to splurge on the Theory short sleeved sweater and the Halogen camel wool coat. Such classic and chic pieces!
This is a real nice round up with many great options . Thank you for taking the time to write this blog post.
I’d love to win the gift card for my daughter who is a HS English Teacher. It’d be fun for her to splurge on clothes for the upcoming school year. Thank you for this wonderful giveaway!
I love your thoughts on this years sale. I get to shop tomorrow and this helped me narrow some things down :)
Also at first I wasn’t so excited about the sale with everything going on in the world and then CT got hit real bad with the hurricane- we don’t have power and won’t for probably a week. So, turns out this sale is coming at the right time to take my mind off things and get excited for the Fall!!
I am interested in some #collegeemma approved leggings and comfy sweaters. First baby coming in the fall so shopping for any clothes that fit (and can handle baby spit up)
If I win I would definitely update my fall wardrobe with some 2020 must-have like those ankle booties and a maybe a Tory Burch bag too; My closet needs some desperate love since our priority now is our son, of course!
PS: I would definitely get that 2020 must have you mentioned too, both in the tiger print and the zebra. My husband has been begging me to get them. Lol
I pray this is where I comment. I could of read the insta post wrong. Working 6 days on the front lines of covid is tough. If I was not working I would be dreaming of fall days in Illinois which I miss. Now I watch hurricane radar and pray they miss my home in Florida. So yes money for a sale would be an awesome distraction
Great post, thank you!
Honestly, I would buy cute clothes for my kids because seeing them all dressed up makes me happy! Need all the happy we can get in 2020!
Loved all the suggestions and the tipsy banter. As much as I wish I could spend the $500 on tiger king underwear, I should probably be more practical and get new car seats for my 11 month twins. Okay, fine. I’d get the car seats and the tiger underwear.
Not ready to stop being outdoors!!!
Wedding shoes and some bridesmaids gifts! Quarantine bride here trying to make her special day gorgeous even if she does have to wear a mask!
Leggings, cardigans and those socks!! Basically all the comfy things while working at home and digital learning with my kids!
I’m not saying I would spend all $500 on Halogen Ponte pants but multiple pairs for sure bc they are my favorite pants for work. Maybe splurge on some cashmere with the remainder.
Loved the fall photo shoot!
Love this!!! Want alllll the sweaters. Also, totally agree on longchamp lasting forever—I have one from 2012 and it’s still in great shape!!
I’m eyeing some sunglasses, a pair of jeans, booties and the Free People sweater. Great blog!
Definitely a camel coat and replenish my skin care you know for when I actually have to leave my apartment and wear a coat again
Wow there are too many good ideas you rounded up!!! I would stock up on clothes for my graduate school classes and medical school interviews! I need all the help with a new wardrobe revamp:)
#1 on my list is the Sam E. Wool blend coat in camel of course!! Classic and cute but warm enough for this Kdg teacher on the playground.
#2 madewell leopard calf hair tote – sooo cute
#3 barefoot Dream socks! I succumbed to the BD obsession last fall and bought the infamous blanket. It is the blanket we all try to steal. Loooveee so now I need the matching socks and well maybe the cardigan too
#4 moonlight dream long pj set bc I also have a new obsession with pjs
#5 I really like the Steve Madden leopard feather loafers but I’m thinking my feet will like the Ugg booties more!
Bonus content: Today I frantically call down to the office bc I have no paper towels in my Sink dispenser in my classroom. I mean i had wrestled with it for 5 minutes!! Help arrives quickly with a humongous roll in hand. He says what did you just need extra? I said no I have none. (All smarty pants) He pushes the button and they come shooting out.
Def some booties. In desperate need of some booties.
I would buy the nuna rava car seat! We were gifted the pipa as a baby shower gift and LOVE the brand!
Kelly–this post is everything! I am a longtime fan, first time commenter. Your Instagram posts and stories have been giving me life during these crazy times. I’m always sending them to my sis to bond over Noodle, your adorable family, and your amazing realness. I have been eying ALL the Barefoot Dreams things but have never felt okay spending that much on cozy stuff for me.
I’d absolutely purchase the Barbour waxed jacket, the Laura Mercier caviar sticks (life changing in terms of getting out the door) and the Halogen cashmere throw on ruana (my classroom is eitehr the arctic or the sahara, there is no in between!) Here’s a parenting tip/story for you.. My son likes to do jobs while watching movies so I gave him the wood polish and told him to polish anything wood. I guess I should have been more specific because the dogs? Spent the afternoon ice skating in the living room. Same kid also got stuck in the mud last week and he came home but not his shoes. Life..better than the movies!
Well I wasn’t planning on buying my 5,000th pair of booties but now I’m considering it…I love Blondos because they’re cute and I never have to worry about ruining them or wet feet in the snow.
Honestly, I’m a nurse and the hospital provides my scrubs, so I don’t have to worry what I wear (we’ve always worked in sweatpants!). But I started dating the most amazing man in December and over half of our relationship has been in quarantine. Like most people, we’ve missed out on life/relationship milestones but we’re so lucky to have found each other. He’d love me in a burlap sack and he’s seen a lot of sweatpants but I like to get dressed up for both of us. It puts a sense of normalcy back into dating for me—it lightens the mood, makes it easier to pretend we’re on a real date, and helps me move past the stress of what we are facing.
Yeah, clothes can do that sometimes (so does the awesome guy). But with $500? I’d buy something nice for me and something nice for him, and we’d go on a nice “date.” Probably to the living room. But we’d feel good doing it.
Cubic zirconia Nordstrom earrings, some new sneakers, a pair of riding boots and maybe a throw blanket or two.
And a knock knock joke for extra points ;)
Knock, knock
Who’s there?
Tank
Tank who?
You’re welcome!
I’m a mom of two living in Chicago (our kids are similar ages!) and love your recommendations of things to do with the kids! I’m in the medical field (ya know, lots of scrubs) so when I shop at Nordstrom it’s always for a special
occasion and to treat myself so I’ve got my eye on a few pairs of shoes ;-) Love following you on insta!
You weren’t lying…it is a long post, but it’s only because you cover the sake so easily with your categories! I would buy a few new sweaters NOT in the blank or white that I always buy (maybe a burnt orange!!!) and a pair of hotties with a heel, as I only own flat ones. Chicago fall is a pretty time, but I’m with you, NOT YET!
Kelly [dot] a [dot] Llewellyn [at] Gmail [dot] com
New ugg slippers and a Barefoot dreams cardi that I can snuggle in after coming home from teaching PreK (but also chase my two year old around in)
As much as I would like to comment some fabulous dress, or purse, or shoes as part of my wish list if I won… I will be realistic with myself, and you and tell you that I would buy the coziest, softest, fluffiest things that I could possibly find for me and my son’s grand adventures around the house. Leggings? Perhaps. A blanket.. why not! And most likely just clothes for the baby… because he is growing by the minute and he is the star of the show when && if we do leave our cave. PS Not even due to quarantine… just tired and lazy and enjoy all things that are comfy.
I would buy myself the barefoot dreams cardi! I would not buy my dog the barefoot dreams sweater for canines- because that’s apparently a thing?! Would be cute to match though
yes! So glad you did a round-up – thanks! NSale is so wonderful, but so overwhelming!
What an amazing round-up of the sale!
I would get some Madewell jeans! Because after all the quarantine baking and legging wearing, I’m definitely going to be needing some new jeans this fall! ;)
I’d probably grab some zella leggings (they hold up SO WELL) and a barefoot dreams cardigan, and then I’d probably peruse your picks and find a few additional items to try!
Want a giggle? Follow my pup @maliboomer on Instagram
Hey! I would love to win the $500. Since I saw Kate Middleton wear a Barbour jacket I have always dreamed of owning one. Sadly, I have always been “too large” for their sizing. Since November, I have lost 80lbs. I can now fit in one! So, a Barbour jacket of any kind in my perfect dream size would be my purchase and of course the beloved Tula products on sale.
I am ALL in on the Patagonia Nano puffer jacket!!! Literally the only way I can leave the house right now with a 3 month old and 2 year old is to go on walks… needed for fall temps!!!
Thank you so much for this giveaway!!! I lost some weight during the pandemic so I’d be shopping for new jeans and basic pieces
I’d be content if I could snag at least one pair of the moonlight PJs and a barefoot dreams sweater! I’m also looking to grab a lot of Zella pieces to stay comfy while being a PhD student at home at least through 2020 (and maybe the whole school year because who knows when this will ever end and even if it does, I’m done with jeans and shoes haha).
I’d buy the Patagonia zip for my daughter!
I’m thinking maybe a patagonia fleece or Barour coat. I also want some new booties. I wish I could say loungewear but I work at a doctors office and have been working this whole time.
As far as something funny or crazy to entertain you. The office I work in is seriously crazy. I wish legally we could do a reality show because nutty stuff happens daily and I would binge watch us for sure. The most recent one is a lady came running in to use the bathroom. I of course have to stop her to get a temperature, who is she, is she with a patient. Well she was waiting in the car while a family member had their appointment but she had to use the bathroom. Ok-legit I think. Then she asks if I have small diapers… for her dog (I now notice her holding it). I said a diaper? “ Yes…the dog just got it’s period for the first time and ya know, needs something”. So…you brought your dog in heat to your family members appointment. Sorry no diapers that small. ♀️
Ohhh I’d buy all the things. Mostly leggings, lounge wear and roomy shirts and open cardigans because I’ll be on maternity leave with my first! Plus I hear you need extras since the baby is not the only one with multiple wardrobe changes a day? I love following you guys on Instagram!
Omg so much good info about product! You’re going to make me go into debt . Love all the details about everything! You’re the best!
I desperately need the Nordstrom moonlight pants pajamas set. 1. I have 3 boys. No attractive sleepwear here. 2. COVID. Need I get dressed? 3. I’m fairly confident I can pass the navy blue off as a blazer on a Zoom call.
I would buy a new Tory Burch purse!
Oh man, this was such a comprehensive list, Kelly! Thanks so much for putting this together! This year, I’ve really been eyeing a cashmere tunic sweater by Nordstrom Signature… it will go great with so many jeans / leggings + variety of boots! (You know, the autumn staples ) I hope Mitch finally unpacked that duffle bag on your dresser! Sending the girls some hugs! xx
I love this sale. Planning to buy the Tory Burch tote, Wit and Wisdom jeans, and the Barefoot Dreams waffle cardigan so that I can walk wistfully through a misty forest a la Taylor Swift.
Something funny, guaranteed for laughs (at least at like 3am): where does the spaghetti go to dance?
….
…
…
The meat ball! HA HA try it on Emma ;)
I’m currently 800 years pregnant in hot as hell Georgia (I was told to never call it Hotlanta again ♀️). So I am dreaming of Nordstrom’s coziest sweaters and leggings and boots and some new buffalo plaid for my boys!
I feel the same way about Uggs! I was anti-Ugg for YEARS but after getting a dog last year I have realized they are essential for quick walks in those below zero temps. I also have my eye on a Patagonia jacket and Spanx leggings. Great round-up!
The Free people afterglow mock neck top looks super cozy … I’m in a fall mood
We are having a thanksgiving baby and it would be amazing to be able to get all the mommy and me looks!
I’d really love the quilted Burberry jacket because every time I look at it I will he reminded that there is actually an outside and a place to go!
I had a “wardrobe malfunction” with bathing suit top at the beach last week so I would really love to buy a barefoot dreams cardigan so I can stay cozy and COVERED UP this fall. ♀️
Thanks for your longgg recommendation list! I’d definitely purchase the Barefoot Dreams socks since I adore the BD throw my daughter-in-law gave me last Christmas. Would love to try some new skin care products too! My grandkids are always in my heart & on my mind so will shop for them, for sure! Maybe Fall outerwear!
So impressed with your thoughtful, witty and well-rounded write-up! Give me all of the shoes. I haven’t replaced my tall boots in years. We also live in LP, have two kids and my husband also has an aversion to unpacking and/or putting away clothes in general
The number one thing I’m after is a Barefoot Dreams cardigan! Since I don’t really leave my home that much, I might as well fell like I’m in a cloud.#2020vibes
And a little anecdote for Larkin entertainment: When my husband and I first started dating, he had some time just before starting a new job and wanted to win some brownie points with my family. He’d come over to my parents house while I was at work and do odd jobs and then end up spending the night. One day he calls me at work two times in a row. I finally answer obviously thinking something is wrong. He told me that my mom had picked up his dirty clothes off the guest room floor and washed them. Ok? What’s wrong with that? He replied, “your mom ironed my underwear”
Quarantine has equaled to buying all the cozy things that I can I would love to buy a couple barefoot dreams blankets and a cardigan. My dream is to be wrapped in all the softness while working from home!
Love following your style and your family on Instagram! Looking to invest in the Nuna MIXX next this year for our first coming soon and would love the $500!
Every sale round up must now be after a bottle of ! The readers approve!!! I’d love to splurge on the Oplaplex and Bobbi Brown Face Base if I won. I need to come out of quarantine feeling pretty and no one will noticed I gained weight, haha.
I am a mom ninja to 3 and I would be ecstatic to win! My madewell jeans could use a refresh for all the chasing back to the zoom calls this years school year will bring!
Also some plaid! I love that section of your blog!
Cheers to you guys! Stay safe!
I’ll buy anything that’s left by the time I’m allowed in to the sale!
Honestly this takes all the leg work of these sales!!! HUGE fan!
I would definitely get a nice pair of jeans and a camel colored wool coat! Not that I’ll have anywhere to wear new clothes anytime soon
Boots! And long sweaters…and leggings….but mostly boots!
Gah- such a good sale this year! This is a boring answer, but I think I would just buy lots of Zella workout clothes! That’s really all I’m wearing these days anyway, and Zella makes such great stuff.
Omg. What a thorough post. I actually love it. Thanks! I would love to win even though I am not even slightly ready for fall!
Will never own another pair of jeans NOT from Madewell!!
I’d buy one of the Free People Over Sized slouchy sweaters and a new pair of Zella leggings. We’ll be starting the school year remotely. With those pieces I’d at least look pulled together while being comfortable all at the same time. Not sure if this is entertaining or straight embarrassing, but we’ve spent a good chunk of time watching a mouse eat at our bird feeder over the last few days. We all run to the window anytime someone notices it’s out. This is what is exciting during covid times. ♀️
Expecting my first baby girl in the fall and realized that 90% of my wishlist consists of Baby Bling bows. Can’t wait to shop for her! It doesn’t count as spending if you’re buying cute things for baby, does it?!
I would purchase rag & bone jeans and Free People’s My Only Sunshine sweater!
This makes fall way less scary- love this-so helpful! I would for sure buy all the barefoot dreams blankets!! Does Noodle have any Nordstrom sale favorites ☺️
I love your blog & want to win!
Oh what I could do with $500!! I want ALL the Barefoot Dreams! I’m a teacher working remotely so love the comfy but appropriate factor! The Jeans options would be awesome, and I’m dying to try Jo Malone fragrance.
Hi Kelly! I’m a nurse in a busy hospital in Washington DC and while working in the COVID ICU for 4 months I was so happy to find your blog and decompress while reading your entries. Also in the midst of this covid madness, my husband and I sold our home and bought a new one! There’s been a lot of stress but your Instagram and blog bring me some peace and joy every day.
Your home design is incredible, I love the way you mix classic and modern pieces to keep everything looking elegant but fun!!
I also have two little girls (ages 4 and 1) and I have to admit I am in the middle of designing my daughters bedroom similar to Emma’s , that wallpaper is just incredible.
Thank you for all the inspiration and peace you bring ♥️. Oh , and if I was to win a Nordstrom gift card I would be buying quality shoes and sweaters for my girls , husband and I ! We don’t get the chance to treat ourselves to nice clothing often so it would be a true blessing. Xoxo
What fun! I’d love to win. Had my 3rd baby 8 months ago, and mama needs some new clothes
Love this! We just got a puppy so I’m feeling all your Noodle posts and am on the hunt in this sale for jeans, quality leggings, and cozy-cute sweatshirts that stand up to puppy needle teeth. Best pup story so far: we were walking and my pup charmed an entire sleeve of Ritz crackers off an old man thanks for being great!
Ugh – forgot to say what I would get. I Neeeeeed the Barbour Pilton quilted jacket, the rag and bone jeans, and a better sweater. And low gatos vest. To start.
Baby girl just started teething … so Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate for me so I can pretend I got a full night of quality sleep, and ALL of the cute late summer clothes for her. At least if she is fussy she will look good!
Wow – this post is so detailed & amazing! I just moved to Chicago and I’m DREADING the winter!!! I would be snagging all the coats, boots, sweaters STAT to even attempt to prep for it. Or maybe… I’ll just buy all the cozies i can get my hands on & hibernate inside till winter is over ;-)
Ooh! This year would be all about getting ready for baby girl who arrives next month. I’ve been eyeing the Nuna Mixx stroller and test drove it at Nordstrom. I’d be so grateful!
We moved to a new state this spring and I left the corporate world to get bossed around by my 2.5yr old and 9 month old. Due to this, I need to pick up more leggings/bike shorts for everyday where, opalex because my postpartum hair is still a frazzled mess, anything that will help my tired eyes, voluspa candles to mask the diaper smell, and a new pom throw to hide under for 30 seconds of alone time.
I’m eyeing all that baby gear!! Especially the Maxi Cosi car seat for my daughter – she just turned one and is ready for the next step up from her infant seat. :)
Would love to purchase the Nordstrom cashmere tunic sweater. LOVE a good cashmere sweater that I would have for years to come.
Madewell Jeans, Blondo booties, and the adorable baby bunting for my daughter! Absolutely makes me want more babies
I am eyeing the YSL Libre Gift Set. Insane value! (the 3oz usually goes for $130 alone) Also insane (and proud) that I want to smell like a bougey Blair Waldorf during quarantine. Also a new Lele headband to complete that Blair look xoxo Gossip Girl
I would probably buy some Aquatalia boots… I have a pair of their booties that I love, but I’ve always wanted a taller pair. And I’d also probably buy a barefoot dreams cardigan, or four or five. Those things are LOVELY. Or I might go a different route and buy my sister a rehearsal dinner dress. Her wedding is in September and she’s had to change plans multiple times, so a little cheer her way would be nice.
And here’s a little something for a laugh for your family. I used to teach 2nd grade (I teach kindergarten now)… but when I taught 2nd, one day we were headed out to recess and one of my boys runs outside yelling “let the hunger games begin!!!!!” I don’t really want to know what game he and his friends were playing, but looking back on that, I know kinda feel like yelling this every time I leave my house these days. What strange and crazy times we live in!
Thanks for continuing to share your families adventures. I always love seeing your posts and watching your stories!
If I won $500 for the Nordstrom sale, I would definitely be buying a few new bras. My favorites are a must get item during the sale. Maybe I’d even treat myself to a new dress for the fall. It would be amazing to win!
SO much good info. Thanks!
I would love some comfy cardigans for my cold office! And maybe some shoes, and leggings, and a purse. So many options! ♀️
So I would definitely get some new Kate Spade sunglasses since my nice pair broke and I’m currently wearing some random ones that my 10-year-old son found buried in the sand under a public shower at the beach. I did clean them first.
Omg! Well…due to covid, I would buy all barefoot dreams everything bc we aren’t going anywhere any time soon. Maybe a Dyson hair dryer? With two girls (grace 4 and Emma 2) it’s hard to find time to do my hair quickly. Also, my husband is from Yardley and I’m from Langhorne and we have a beach house in OCNJ so I love that I’m following someone local! Your posts are great :). Hopefully you get to go to OCNJ soon!!
I would love to cozy up in the Barefoot Dreams weekend cardigan! It’s currently 99 and humid where I live…so I’m dreaming of the cooler fall days to get me through this heat wave!
P.S. Thanks for always making me laugh! I love reading about you and your family!
For the first time in my life I am ready for summer to over. My husband and I just left Miami and will have our first fall in years! I’m ready for boots, sweaters and scarves!! Fall can’t come soon enough!
Love this rundown! Thank you for giving me some good ideas going into the sale!
Love your blog (and especially Noodle content)! If Nordstrom sold them, I would buy a time machine to skip ahead to whenever there is a vaccine! More realistically though, I’m really eyeing the Spanx leather leggings.
The nuna Rava car seat for my little guy!!
Either the barefoot dreams cardigan, the thule jogging stroller, or some hanky panky undies!!!
Love this!
Hey Kelly!! I would be buying new shoes like Blondos, Steve Maddens, or Tory Burch for my first year teaching. We are going back to school in person and I’ll be on my feet plenty so comfy shoes would be a must. Other than that I’m still looking for a great navy dress to be a staple in my teaching wardrobe – you gave so many great recommendations and I will be looking into those, thanks! If you have any other new teacher advice I’d love to hear it. My school year starts in 2 weeks!! Thanks for the great posts, I always look forward to them!!
Would love to get some fun fall staples!!
Ugg Blanket and New Booties!
Honestly that open cardigan is an absolute must have
I’ll buy ten million pairs of ugg slippers. Because seriously where am I going in the next year? Oh that’s right. No where. I’ll be at home. Homeschool three kids. Can’t wait to teach Honours Chem and Math. That should be fun. Is there a plastic wineglass in the sale? I’ll defiantly need one of those.
The Steve Madden Denali boots! I am obsessed
Love the round up! I have my eye on all the cozy lounge wear and sweaters for our fall to be spent on the couch with a newborn! Maybe some cute baby and toddler items too :)
I have this guide left open on my browser for when the sale starts!! How to narrow it down? SPANX, sneakers, patagonia and THROW blankets!! You pulled great looks.
Wow this is the best N-Sale guide I’ve seen yet! If I were to win the $500, I would definitely treat myself to a Barbour jacket and maybe some new boots. The discounts are amazing! If I don’t win, I’ll be sticking to more comfy staples and basics- tees, sweaters, bras, etc.
This is great! I would buy Blondo boots and a Barbour jacket for me and some things for my daughter, who will be one on August 28! I wish I had something funny to say, but I don’t! I’m sure I’ll have some good stories once I start teaching reading to high schoolers with IEPs through the computer in two weeks! O boy!!
I will be ordering some over-the-knee boots so that I can walk around my living room and pretend that I run these streets. And by streets, I mean my hallway. But at least I’ll look fab.
If I won the money, I would buy Patagonia coats for my gang of three children. Over hear on the other side of Lake Michigan it is very cold too! I know you feel me. The dark dreary days are made better with colorful puffers.
Whatever cash was left would buy something for my tired, mommy, teacher, 2020 fave
I have my eye on the madewell mules, the faux leather spanx and the kiddo Ugg boots!
Not a funny story really but I’m a mom of a 3 year old and 1.5 year old and broke my ankle 3 weeks ago trying to teach them how to slip n slide. So much for trying to be the fun mom ♀️ Trying not to go too crazy with the online shopping while I’m immobile for 3 more weeks!
Love all your picks! Definitely sold me on the waffle cardigan, looks so cozy and comfy. I’m
also looking forward to trying the Barefoot blankets, have heard so many great things for so long, definitely the time to go for it.
Love watching your stories with your sweet girls, keep up the good work!
Oooh you know the best part of this giveaway? I can cheat on a promise I made to my BF – no shopping until my birthday in mid-September. UGH why did I promise? TBH I don’t know, trying to be a good adult, save money, no more stripe tees that I probably don’t need? I’m trying, but wow would I love a little shopping spreeeee! :)
I’ve had my eye on the Cozy Knit comfy cardigan in cream ever since I saw your outfit post in it! Also, would love to treat myself to the Free People Afterglow Mock Neck sweater, Zella joggers (perfect business casual for that at home quarantine life) and of course Nordstrom’s Moonlight PJs because comfy is the new chic! Maybe I would treat my boyfriend to something, maybe, but also maybe not.
Anyway, thank youuuu Kelly and Mitch!
I would stock up on winter coats for the kiddos and maybe slip in a cashmere sweater for myself!
So many great options. I’m trying to predict what the winter version of the inflatable pool would be for winter Covid life…which probably equates to something outdoorsy, in the cold Chicago weather…trying to keep sane while e-learning takes place for my 6 and 8 year old. The Patagonia Down With It Hooded Parka will have me prepared for the long COVID winter ahead of us…
I absolutely NEED to get my hands on that plaid boyfriend blazer and considering investing in a Barbour!! I just finished grad school so the Barbour feels like a good “big girl” purchase (lol). Also maybe some booties? Trying to find my ~office chic~ style amidst a pandemic has been quite interesting! Kelly, this roundup is so good and thorough and actually helpful! So many pieces are also size inclusive which I love!
Would love any of the cozy Barefoot Dreams cardigans :)
The Barefoot Dreams cardigan! I don’t have one and I’m having baby #2 in September, so I plan to live in leggings, nursing camis, and that cardigan!
Love the Nike Blazer sneakers, Eliza J ruffle dress, Spanx leggings and Leith cardigan. Just got some Keihls eye serum and am keen to try more of their line.
I always buy for my kids, this time I would buy for myself! Patagonia to ski this winter, please let us ski, I can’t take another season stuck in the house, Zella leggings because I have nowhere to go, and they are the best, UGG slippers for the never ending conference calls….and maybe search for some new jeans for losing the quarantine 15 and my trip to Nantucket for wine festival.
I have an ever growing list for the sale since I can’t shop until Monday! But I definitely want a Barbour coat since the two I currently own are way to big! Other items are Nike sneakers and the moonlight dream short pjs!
Kelly, this is the college undergrad capstone of Nordstrom sale blog posts. Which is to say, thoroughly researched and well executed. Well done! ❤️❤️
The Nikes are really cute, and also like some of the art work.
Not sure what else I can say that would be entertaining, we are really bored too!!
I’d buy all the cute PJs bc it’s not looking like we’re leaving the house this year.
I need all the barefoot dreams comfy ness to make me feel like I’m not alone in quarantine. When am I gonna be able to date again? Probably never
All of the loungewear looks amazing! Working in a school, I’m assuming we’ll end up back online this fall and that would be so perfect to wear when working with my littles, so I can be comfy but still look put together enough!
I would LOVE some new pjs to add to my work from home rotation, and maybe some new tennis shoes since I’m taking more walks around the block than I ever have before. Happy Quarantine!
I would buy a double stroller since we are pregnant with number 2! Maybe it will get my kid to nap too….☕️
Thanks so much for the guide! I have my eye on a stroller for my first baby due in November and some new leggings for me (that I hope I will fit into again!).
I’d probably buy some new sneakers and jeans.
I would love to get a few “less athleisure but still comfortable yet professional” staples for fall so that when I need to be on Zoom calls I’m not forced to get fully dressed in work attire for 1 hour…inside my home. Thinking the color blocked cardigan…or any cardigan (shout out to TSwift). I probably also need to reassess my jean collection after this time at home. And my daughter is now totally virtual for school through Thanksgiving and so she could use a few items that aren’t her school uniform or jammies. I now have no excuse for her not to have ugg booties either (previous excuses included the walk to / from school and the general messiness and forgetfulness of kids).
Joggers for my new workout routine- jogging to the fridge from my couch
I’ll be snatching up those cardis and cute sneaks to be Larkin level fresh on the college campus this fall. Help a college sister out
I’m really feeling the rag and bone hat!! I need it for my infinite quest to become a “hat girl”. It’s a dream that I can’t quite reach.
Would definitely splurge on some barefoot dreams! I need something cozy to snuggle up with during quarantine! Can’t wait for fall personally :)
Your round up is great!! I think I would defiantly get a cashmere sweater and probaably a new purse! :)
A Barbour jacket!!! I had my eye on it for YEARS!
Hello Larkin Family, if I were to win I would choose several things that you suggested including a new pair of UGGs. I have purchased many pairs for my daughters but never for myself. My youngest daughter will be going to college in Chicago this year and will be playing soccer and I think I really need a pair of UGGs to be able to watch her play this fall, as I envision Chicago to be very cold. I would also buy some Madewell jeans and a Patagonia puffy coat. Thank you!
New pjs because #covid and some comfy jeans and maybeeeee a Patagonia!!! Love the Nordys sale!
The Barbour deals are great!! That’s what I would be after. That and the revitabrow. Lots of Schitts Creek watching these days and the Levy family is my inspiration
Hi! So many goodies to choose from. Thanks so much for going to all this work on this post. Holy cow! I can’t begin to imagine the time it took to write and link it all. As for what I plan to buy, the first is the Nordstrom collection cashmere color block tunic. Then probably some black jeans. Basic but hopefully not boring!
This is awesome! I would love to win to get some booties that I Always wish to buy in the fall, and always end up buying sweaters and stuff for the kids. Even though I don’t anticipate going out much this year, I’d like to shop for something fun other than yoga pants.
Thanks so much!
Jo Malone wood sage and sea salt ANYTHING! Love love love that fragrance.
Wow!! This is such an amazing list and post. I appreciate all the time and effort you guys put into putting this all together. It’s amazing and so helpful! I also love that you don’t always pick the most expensive, luxury items. It’s nice to know I can afford some high quality, well liked stuff by a fashionista like yourself!
Hi Kelly! I love your insta/blog as 30s professional who hates to shop you make it easy with classy looks! I would love to use the $500 towards some wardrobe staples such as year-round loafers and trousers.
The barefoot dreams cardigan is on my list! It’s perfect since I don’t go anywhere anymore! Haha. I can feel “dressed” when I stay home .. all .. day .. long.
Omg can I just have allllllll the blazers?!!!! Definitely channeling my inner Blair Waldorf — indulging in macarons and all!
Totally crushing on the Tory Burch T-Logo sneakers! The wishlist is a total game changer!
This is so comprehensive! Keeping bookmarked for shopping in general and not just the sale. Would love a little treat!
Love your blog, Kelly! Always gives me something to look forward to in these crazy times. :) I am currently the opposite of your journey – I’m from Chicago and live in NYC! Moved out here a little over a year ago!
With the $500 I would definitely get some things I’ve already put in my wishlist – The Via Spiga Grooved Faux Fur Hooded Vest in black, Steven NewYork Jive Croc Embossed Slip on Sandal in Pink Croco, Sperry Crest Vibe Slip-On Platform Sneaker in White Smocked Fabric, Gal Meets Glam Collection Courtney Rio Stripe Lawn Maxi Dress and but not least the Slip for beauty sleep Mega Scrunchie Set!
Thanks for everything you guys do and looking forward to more of your blog posts!
I am eyeing some Madewell loafers! The Madewell shoes are so timeless I can’t get enough of them!
Something interesting…we got a French Bulldog puppy in quarantine because, why not? He is everything you would expect about a puppy…but get this, doesn’t like peanut butter. I’ve never met a dog that doesn’t like peanut butter. We think we are going to try almond butter because that’s the level of spoiled this little guy has gotten to.
I’d probably buy something Patagonia. My kids have fleeces, but I’m always too cheap to buy for myself and I LOvE the that classic Coach crossbody bag..rambler something? You posted it in another post or IG story and I remember my aunt had one similar in the 90’s and I remember liking it then! I’d also buy some new lounge wear. I’m a first grade teacher in Queens and will probably be working remotely from home at some point this school year… I don’t want to look homeless like I did March-June. ♀️ I could use some new fresh pieces and I saw Nordstroms has a lot of cute options. Love you and your blog!
I’d spend it all on pajamas! Lol. I LOVE the Nordstrom moonlight dreams short pjs (I might be wearing them right now…tmi?). I’d probably splurge on the Roller Rabbit ones from this years sale too. The print is “gym rats” which is hilariously ironic seeing as how I’ll probably have to go up a Covid-size…anywho looking forward to the sale!
Even though I am not as excited to shop the Nsale as prior years, I can’t pass up my go-to’s! I’m looking to buy my beauty faves (BB face base! & PC 2% BHA exfoliant), all the Zella workout / lounge apparel, Blondo booties (so many to choose from!), the Halogen Cashmere Sweater in a couple colors and I’m not a real jewelry girl either, so maybe those CZ earrings! Oh, and basics for the kids! Can’t forget about them. Thanks for the great coverage of the sale, all in one place, saving me so much time from pouring through the entire sale on my own!
I’d totally buy some more Wit and Wimsy, I mean, Wit and Wisdom jeans lol they really are the most flattering and comfy jeans plus fit shorties like me!! And a double stroller if possible for our second daughter due in November!!
Hi! I wish I had something witty and clever to say, but I just spent all the energy I had left reading and then trying to figure out how to comment on the post. Serious failure on my part, but hey! I made it. I love following you & your content! I also love the cast and crew of Kelly in the City: Mitch, Noodle, College Emma & Lucy. Thanks for always putting a smile on my face! Plz pick me
I’m looking forward to replacing my well loved booties with a Marc Fisher Oshay Pointed Toe pair, and taking advantage of the Natori bras on sale! Nothing like waiting for the NSale to replace things you’ve been putting off getting rid of!
I have nowhere to go, but you best believe I’ll be looking for all of the cute but comfy clothes and shoes!!
I love your picks! Btw I think we’d all love a category called “College Emma”.
I appreciate that you added the fact that it’s just a sale and that it doesn’t make you less of a person whether you shop it or not. You are a great role model for your girls and readers like me! Keep Shining your light!
P.s I would definitely buy the barefoot dreams throw! I’ve had my eye on it for a while! Thanks ;)
Emily
I need the Barefoot Dreams blanket and the long sleeved pajamas with the Diptyque set to get me through work from home this winter with my toddler. Also, the Zella joggers because who needs real clothes anymore?
Thanks for the roundup! I want to get the Olaplex set – my hair could use the help!
Thanks for the comprehensive Nordstrom annual guide! I especially love the kids and baby! And I laughed out loud at the underwear section
My main focus is on the uppababy stroller! And the barefoot dreams socks for when I deliver in 3 months!
I’d buy all the Barefoot Dreams bc I’m about to have another baby and will be living in lounge clothes for the foreseeable future!
Wowowowow! I have to say this guide is a godsend. I’ve been working from home (like most people) for the past 4 months (has it only been 4 months?!) and the Covid-19 weight gain is real. I definitely need some new workout clothes but more importantly my Fall wardrobe desperately needs to be updated with the return to the physics workplace looming ahead. I’m absolutely in love with the Gibson Cozy knit blazer because at this point the thought of wearing uncomfy work clothes is just WRONG, and a knit blazer sounds like the perfect solution. The Madewell skinny jeans are also a must-buy: perfect for work and perfect for post-work drinks (if office Happy Hour becomes a thing again). A Longchamp bag would be perfect as a work bag, especially on the Metro as it’s easy to clean and can hold quite a lot. Needless to say, quarantine has made me addicted to my pajamas (because honestly, who doesn’t love a PJ party, am I right?) but it’s high time that this lady treat herself to a wardrobe update and step back into the workplace with my best foot (and mask) forward! Thanks for the opportunity, Kelly! Hope you, Mitch, Emma, Lucy, and Noodle are well! :)
The must have item lol. I am cracking up.
Big fan of the necessaire products that Nordstrom included in the sale this year.
Love the skincare suggestions- I’d love to up my game in this area of my life!
I should probably get a new Longchamp purse—mines looking a LITTLE overused. The thought of buying fall clothes right now is so crazy seeing that I just started breaking out my going-out-of-the-house wardrobe.
First of all totally impressed with you breakdown of the sale! I remember having little ones and getting all that together is impressive!
My must haves with 4 boys and virtual learning ♀️
Barefoot Dreams cozy chic cardigan
Moonlight Dream Pajamas
Gibson Notch Collar Blend Blazer (for when we can really go someplace)
Every girl needs some good bras and I fell in love with this brand! True and Co. triangle convertible strap bralette!
Pick me! I would buy all the things, I just had a baby and am hopeful to loose most of the baby weight by fall! Sweaters, jeans, tall boots, and booties!
I will take the nike shoes, the other nike shoes, —- actually just gimme all the nike shoes!
Love your Blog – thank you so much for sharing your adorable family with us and for taking the time to make the Nordstrom sale slightly less overwhelming!
So many great choices it’s hard to decide! I would love some new premium denim. I also have my eyes on the Patagonia hooded jacket and leopard barefoot dreams cardigan! Thanks for the fun post!
Kiel’s midnight oil and a patagonia pull over!
Oooh I think I’d choose the Vince Camuto boots! I pretty much wear a dress with boots to work everyday from Oct-Feb. I’m also dreading fall EXCEPT I really miss wearing socks!
So trying to post my comment again because my internet froze ! so if you see this twice I promise I’m not crazy!
Wowza what a round up! You’re the best, Kelly! (I don’t normally use the word wowza… but … Rose!) Totally agree on the Barefoot Dreams cardigans-they are the best and that would definitely be on my wish list along with the socks…cozy will likely be in my foreseeable future!
What a great list! What would I buy with a $500 gift card? This is a tough one for me – I’ve lost about 40 pounds and I’m 1/2 way to my ultimate goal of 80 lbs. I hate to buy anything until I meet my goal but I suppose it would be nice to have some jeans that fit in the meantime. And I’d probably buy the Patagonia better sweater as I’ve always wanted one. My 8 year old son has one and I”m very jealous and living vicariously through him! I would probably buy some jeans that fit properly, a beautiful Vince sweater and a cozy blanket or 2. I’m also obsessing over the Barbour coats but I would probably wait until I meet my goal weight before taking that plunge. And I wouldn’t give a penny to my kids or husband!! ha ha! :-)
Seriously, Barefoot Dreams anything, more Zella leggings, & Ugg booties. I’m thinking all about comfort this fall.
Your roundup posts are by far my favorite out of all of the other influencers – this one even better after a few glasses of wine! Haha.
My sister is pregnant with her first, so I will be shopping for her and baby (both in comfort and for my own desire of dressing up baby in total prep – not my sisters style at all!) #babyloafersalltheway
Hello! I would invest in (my very first) Tory Burch purse and some booties!!
Love love love your content, your authenticity helps me feel a little less hopeless about my reality in the world right now (my dad’s in the mental hospital, my therapist wants to break up with me, and I’m on my second loaf of banana bread of the night!!!!!!)
Definitely some boots and any other warm items for a cold Milwaukee winter!
Such a thorough post!! Thank you! I’m 8 months pregnant with our second child and hoping to snag Barefoot Dreams blanket, pajamas, and socks for post partum coziness for soft snuggles with my daughter and son during the fall/winter months. Because I might not feel cute post-partum but I definitely want to be comfy!
Long champ bags for my daughters and CH leopard slip on sneaks for me!
Oh pretty please pick me! I’m a teacher at the Jersey Shore and I’d love to buy a Barbour jacket for fall! (Also, Check out my funny comment on today’s insta stories..#60daysofMitchessuitcase.. make it a THING my
Would loooove the Uppa Baby stroller!
I would buy bed sheets for my son’s bed room
This is SO helpful!!! The Nordstrom sale can be so overwhelming ahh! Thank you!
I love your style! As a fellow Chicago girl, I would totally stock up on cardigans and warm Uggs. I love fall, but this warm weather can stick around for a little while!
I would spend the whole winnings on winter coats and warm wooly gear for my three little Chicago grandchildren. Your winters are so cold! I enjoy seeing how your dress your kiddos!
So enjoy following your darling family!! I live on a lake in South Dakota, spend winters in Naples & love visiting our two grandsons in Missoula, MT.
#1 choice ….I’m with you….Barefoot Dreams Waffle Cardigan.
Thanks to you I own 4 other Barefoot Dreams & have given them as gifts to my daughters & mom.
I would give it to my daughter who turned me onto your site. She just graduated with her MBA and loves Nordstrom. Recently divorced I can’t do much for her and she has always always been there for me! She came for a month when I moved into an apartment just to make sure I got settled and was ok. This would mean so much to me to be able to give to her. Thanks for considering!
So many fun things! I’d love some new boots and a new plaid coat.
Definitely need to upgrade (downgrade?) to a more “not leaving the house” wardrobe. Thanks for the sale preview.
I need a new pair of low and high boots so badly – not that I’m going out anywhere during this pandemic. Haha! Thanks for sharing all of these finds!
Just had a baby so I need to get me some more moonlight pajamas, my favorite thing about the sale every year!
Funny meme I saw recently:
‘Sleep when the baby sleeps’
‘Fold laundry when the baby folds laundry’
I would love to buy a new Patagonia coat and barefoot dreams cardigan.
Fun fact: This summer I started a flower stand and I sell flowers on Sundays.
I am planning on buying the Nuna Rava. We have the Uppababy Mesa and finally going to switch our 15 month-old daughter to a bigger car seat, which was definitely put off because of quarantine and not going really anywhere im the car. ♀️ The joke is going to be on us, though, because my daughter has become quite a bad passenger in recent months since we haven’t been in the car much either. Also planning on buying my sister the Zella jacket for a belated birthday present. My husband and I are both teachers, and so we are both still recovering from a crazy spring and long summer of summer school and prepping for the fall! Wish us luck!
I’m heading back into the schools in 7 days for completely in person learning, full time, 5 days a week and I’m honestly terrified. I’d love to use the $500 to get some nice basics so I can create a uniform of sorts. Stuff that is easy to wash and sanitize. Just hoping it doesn’t spread quickly in my school.
Hi Kelly! Happy almost weekend! My daughter just pooped in the tub so now I’m having a glass of wine and scrolling insta and WHAT AN EXCITING GIVEAWAY! I am dying to get the Clare V leopard tote – don’t NEED it obviously but it’s fabulous! I can tote my gear from living room, to bedroom, to basement… and maybe one day I’ll actually work from an office again and get to wear real clothes Thanks for such a thorough sale guide and for this fun giveaway!
I have no idea how you manage to write an incredibly detailed blog post and still manage with two kids. Bravo to you. I have my eyes on a pair of new Nike running shoes for myself and new shoes and clothes for my kids seemingly we will all be in quarantine through the winter and I’m not about to brave any store that requires me to go in and shop.
Best joke I recently saw was on a shirt that said “vote” on a tide logo with a caption below that says “removes stubborn orange stains.”
Ok- so fun! Give me all the shoes!Because let’s be honest my shoe size stayed the same even with ALL the COVID stress baking calories that I gobbled up! Maybe the Air Max 270 Premium Sneaker would get me off on the right foot to walk some of those pesky extra pounds off. Also, that Longline Cardigan you have listed looks very cozy.
A pair of jeans- 2020 has been too much comfier, so I need incentive to not let it all go downhill!
Give me all the barefoot dreams haha as a fellow Lincoln Park resident, we need all the coziness for the upcoming months (especially if we’re quarantining again)!
I’m definitely buying the gorgeous coats in the sales this year to prep for fall, if we’re allowed outside this fall! If not, I’ll just wear them inside for a personal fashion show!
I have my eye on ALL of the Barefoot Dreams cardigans. Because they all look and feel like blankets and who doesn’t love being wrapped in a cozy blanket. Perfect for the work from home about to become a first grade teacher (virtual learning) mom.
Thanks for all of your picks. They all look amazing. Can’t wait to shop the sale.
I’m definitely in the market for more cozy lounge/athleisure stuff. I can’t see life going back to normal anytime soon and since this is what I’ve been living in, it would be nice to have some cute stuff. Fancy sweats, if you will. Hahaha!
Can I just say that I am so touched by the way you framed this post and the care you poured into describing each item? ❤️
After almost a year of zip nada nothing, I just got a positive pregnancy test TODAY (and who knows what will happen, but I’m feeling cautiously optimistic! And like today might be my lucky day?!) so the baby bunting and cozy Barefoot Dreams cardigans are calling out to me
I’m having my first baby in October and would love to buy the nuna pipa car seat! PS I’m always very entertained by college Emma pics and I love your home decor!
Great post! I would buy all the Natori bras, Barefoot Dreams cardigans and Uggs for my daughter!
Thanks for this excellent sale guide!! Definitely going to try to snag some Madewell items this year!
anything and everything cashmere, i’m loving that “ruana” pullover. and, a nice pair of leggings. if only nordstorm sold wine, too, i’d be all set.
Would buy the Cole Hann wrap coat! Such a staple and classic piece
Any and ALL barefoot dreams. So I can sit barefoot and dream about the beach instead of virtually teach my kids.
Not really headed out and about so definitely would get some new zella loungewear… leggings, joggers, sports bras… gimme all the comfy clothes!
Also might have to splurge on some Pategonia for these chilly Chicago winters!
I would definitely buy some shoes – maybe the Nike blazer sneakers for a sportier look? And I saw some cute Free People sweaters
Would love to purchase some closet staples…booties, fall coat and sweaters. Thank you for all the work you put in for your post!
Hi! I read the whole thing! Love the jokes throughout! My favorite part was the underwear section lol! If I won, I would invest in THE Barbour jacket and then alllll the pajamas and joggers. Maybe some kiddo stuff if they’re lucky ha! I do usually buy kids winter coats each year at the sale, but now I’m wondering: will we be going outside??? Only half joking… Thanks for the sale overview, always appreciated!
Thank you for this thorough post!!! Fellow Chicago gal here, I would love to purchase the diptyque set so I can figure out my favorite scent, Barbour raincoat (purchased my quilted Barbour from your review/blog post and I love it!!), and the halogen cashmere sweater! Can never have too many sweaters right?!
I love the Nordstrom sale but I am not ready for Fall. If only we could have Fall without the long New England winter that follows. Endless hours stuck inside with my kids – oh wait I think we are doing that right now! I know for sure that Leith cardigan is at the top of my list. I got it in green last year and wear it all the time!! So many things waiting in my wishlist and I am not sure how I am going to narrow it down!! Thanks for your post and sharing your family. You are all adorable!
I am looking for cute blouses to pair with sweats for all my Zoom meetings this fall! Redefining “business casual” as “business wherever my webcam can show!!”. Love this giveaway and your roundup!
I would totally buy some Nordstrom PJs (because post partum life = PJs) and buy some cute new outfits for my 3mo baby girl! Love the baby bunting! Even though COVID has everyone stuck at home, at least one of us has to be put together and look cute (it isn’t me!) When we look back at today’s photos years from now I want her to know her daily wardrobe took priority :)
I have my eye on the thigh length light pink north face rain coat! My fingers are crossed my size is still around on Aug 19!
I would love to get the Patagonia Nano Puff and the Better Sweater!
Such a great roundup! I want everything but particularly eyeing one of the barbour jackets and some baby gear for my niece arriving in December! Something funny for the Larkins is that after we got power back after 24hours from the tropical storm my husband was blasting the electric slide to celebrate!
Hi! What a joy this would be! I’m due with my first babe any day now, and have heart eyes for every last kid item you posted <3 I'd maybe also splurge on the All Saints black leather boots. And perhaps hop on the bike short bandwagon. I think it's important to note, these items would not be worn together…though, what an edgy mom I would be :)
I just made the decision to homeschool my 4 year old even though her preschool is open for in-school learning. Wah wah. So I will be getting anything cozy- the Gibson joggers and cozy tunics, the Barefoot Dreams cardigan and throw and will likely throw in the sparkly Ugg boots and a Patagonia fleece for her (obsessed!). Let the fun begin!
I originally only came here to comment to be entered to win $500 to shop the sale. Didn’t even plan to read the post. So glad I did! I’ve seen a lot of the same items shared (with good reason, I’m sure.) But you shared some other great options I hadn’t seen! Love the ponte leggings and the knit blazers. Definitely going for the Spanx faux leather leggings. Thanks for sharing your finds!
I have never really been introduced to the Nordstrom anniversary sale until recently and I am quite looking forward to the sale as there are a few goodies I have my eye on. I would purchase a couple of sweaters, possibly some throw blankets, and maybe a Christmas present or two just to start getting excited about something. Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity!
Wow! This guide is amazing. Thank you. I would love a nice Barbour jacket for the Fall. And def lots more loungewear bc #pandemic
Spanx faux leather leggings, a bunch of cozy sweaters, cozy blankets and booties!!!!!!! I have a 2 dachys too and noodle reminds me so much of them!! ENDLESS ENTERTAINMENT. Especially when splooting and stretching their little legs
Loving all of these comfy sweater and leggings combos for working from home this fall! The perfect items for a cozy-yet-glam Zoom call.
I really don’t NEED anything… but it would be fun to shop for something if I won! Slippers, a blanket , shoes,… any one of these things I’ve thought about but held back from buying.
I’d love to get something warm and cozy in CASHMERE , a new pair of low hoots in a really pretty leather, new bras, and maybe a new fall jacket!! Thanks for the chance!
In desperate need of all the lounge wear items!!! Love your edit. Staying home with 3 kids under 5 is no joke and mom needs to feel cute and look good!!
If I had $500 to spend at Nordstrom, I would get on the phone and cancel my next therapy session. ;)
I’m a sucker for a long cardigan! Love that they can be cozy with joggers (most likely what they’ll be used for this fall…) or dressed up with jeans! I wasn’t impressed with the selection of sale items last year but I am JAZZED this year! Of course when we don’t leave the house. Funny story, I got on a work call today with new girl on in the background and said oh sorry! Thats just my friends. Quarantine probz.
Ok, I am in DESPERATE need of those cute black Blondo booties for the fall outfits I’m going to lay on my bed and never wear because I’m never leaving this house again. I also need that laser wrinkle treatment so I don’t crawl out of this pandemic looking like a haggard swamp monster.
I would totally get a pair of vejas and ray-bans!!
These are boring but I found a lot for my wish list this year – Zella, the bombas, a hydroflask, pants from NYDJ for work, and more Natori bras!
New mama and frontline worker in Chicago here. Truthfully I would love to buy something (anything!) for myself because I’ve bought my baby A LOT of clothes. He is better dressed than I am. I haven’t bought myself anything in a while so I would love a comfy lounge set for when I am hanging out at home, and a Tory Burch or Longchamp for toting around all the baby items when out and about!
Kelly, I think you’re hilarious and I love your clothing style and house designs! Also, I know you put a lot of effort into your posts and it shows! ps- need all of those sweaters ASAP (even if I know my 6 month old will spit up all over them and my 2 year old will inevitably spill something on them throughout the day without fail haha-totally worth it though)
I’m in need of a total shopping spree! I would probably buy some basics that I typically don’t buy but new workout shoes and I love that initials necklace!!
I love!! Your post with the Barbour jackets. I love Barbour so much and especially their sweaters and footwear. I also saw that Nordstrom has very nice knit Button up sleep wear, would love a comfy pair! Thank you also for all of your positive comments and posts and support during covid. I really enjoyed seeing all of your posts supporting health care workers. Hope you and your family are all doing well!
I’m definitely getting a pair of the Blondo booties! My favs! And samesies – my husband has an unpacked bag on our dresser that would be a permanent part of our decor if he has anything to do with it
Thanks for putting this together, Kelly! I’ve finally jumped onto the Barefoot Dreams train after getting one of the blankets a couple months ago! You sold me on the waffle cardigan and socks so definitely picking those up from the sale along with some new beauty product re-stocks. Can’t wait for the sale to open to us non-cardholders. I get so impatient every year!!
I will buy one of everything from each of your category picks (I’m going to have one beige fall! :-)
So many great options, I had no idea there were so many Jcrew and Madewell pieces included! I know everyone loves barefoot dreams, but I would buy the Ugg blanket you recommended! Thanks for always being a bright spot in these crazy times!
Barefoot Dreams!!! And a Diptyque candle :-) Both sound so luxurious!
I NEED the Nordstrom Signature Color Block Funnel Neck Cashmere Sweater!
Wow! I’m certainly tempted to get the Barbour Classic Wax jacket using the $500! Love your style Kelly, and your family, and especially Noodle❤️
Definitely thinking of getting a Patagonia nano for the cool fall weather! ❤️
Hmmm…what to pick? Probably something for my kids (most notably the one I’m growing that had no name yet or anywhere to sleep besides the rock n play…) but really, I would probably add to my obscene Patagonia collection-I only have one 1/2 better sweater after all…and I love the Cole Haan slip on sneakers…
Girl! I have a LIST a mile long for this but I’m Dreaming! ha Barefoot Dreams is a total WINNER and some socks are a *must* to go with the cardi I have. #imwithyou & rounding out the list I won’t bore you with here are Pajamas for myself cuz I gotta be HONEST with my wardrobe choices as of late
My oldest child is about to leave for her freshman year of college, so every time I see your pictures of College Emma, I remember my daughter at that age and OMG TEARS!!! Time flies SO FAST!
I would definitely get the Barefoot Dreams circle cardigan, some Zella leggings, AG jeans, and some short boots!
This is such an awesome prize! I’ve definitely got my eye on the Jo Malone London Wood Sage and Sea Salt! Wifey loves the scent for me and we’ve been having quarantine date nights so it would be a nice addition!
Theory Wool and Cashmere Trench Coat pleeeeeze!
I promise to be good for the rest of 2020 ;0)
I’ve been pining for OTK Blondo boots and faux leather leggings for so long but haven’t had the guts to purchase them yet! Might do it this year so I can wear them to *checks notes* my living room. Great roundup, Kelly!
Adore that entire outfit at the top of your post… But would also love the Patagonia Nano Puff! We got a puppy during quarantine who chews every single piece of furniture he has ever set his eyes on, and the best distraction is always a nice long walk. Not sure how enjoyable those will be when it gets cold in Virginia. Did you have chewing problems with Noodle!?
The Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw is also calling my name!
I would buy all the Patagonia and then feel guilty and probably buy something practical for work like a blazer because eventually I will have to return to the office…
Also, a short story. I moved to Chicago at the beginning of the year (great timing lol). I was recently talking to my out-of-state sister about the fact that I don’t know if I want to stay in my current neighborhood (Logan) or move at the end of the year. I told her that I feel like I haven’t gotten to know the city well enough yet because of the pandemic so I was stressing about it and she just immediately told me I need to move to “Kelly in the City’s neighborhood!” We both like your Instagram and appreciate your occasional awkwardness in your posts…Thanks for keeping things real
Omg this roundup is legit. Thank you for putting all the time and effort into this!! I’m dying for any of the sweaters – they would look super cute on my Google Meets this fall. I teach middle school
Math and as you know, we are remote in CPS. Here’s to hoping we can all get back to these Chicago classrooms soon!
Id purchase another Barefoot Dreams cardigan for me, polos for husband and all things Under Armour for my growing boys.
Can’t wait to shop everything!
I live in Ohio, and even though summer is still happening, it hasn’t ever felt like it’s a thing. So my mind is all on coats and jackets! I would get a new Patagonia parka, the Barbour quilted jacket, and the wool coat from Halogen! Oh and probably a bunch of stuff for my 2 girls and mayyybe something for my husband! Thank you for your amazing sale guide! And my husband thanks you for quadrupling the size (and total!) of my wishlist! :)
A Barbour jacket, a Vince sweater, and some new bras lol Thanks for doing this, Kelly!!
I’m jonesing for that plaid blazer so hard. I can do summer wear blindfolded, live in a walking sleeping bag all winter… but transitional pieces are my kryptonite. I need all the sweaters. I’ll also probably get something for my guy, who used to exclusively wear ironic or disney tee shirts before we began dating. I’m grateful he’s developed a taste for the finer things, but his tastes have also developed a fine price point. Bless him.
I’d stock up on work pants that fit post-quarantine for when I go back to my job as a teacher (eek!) very soon! I *may* have baked a few too many cookies these last few months, whoops!
Such a good guide! I love the long cardigans and would definitely grab one of those and those Steve Madden booties After seeing your selections a pair of loafers I didn’t know I needed may be added to the list too. I hadn’t looked into the kids section much, but that bunting is so adorable and would be perfect (and a fun treat) for my first little one coming in October!
Ohhh!! So many cute things! Love the Nike Blazer sneakers and anything leopard and a comfy cardigan
Funny but true quote “I went to buy a dress but then saw these amazing shoes so I bought lipstick”.
Best.post.ever. I’d definitely get some oversized sweaters and booties, because #workfromhome !
All I want are the Barefoot Dreams socks!!
Would LOVE a barefoot dreams cardigan and blanket so I can feel like I’m in a Nancy Myers movie as I lounge on my couch when in reality I’m just waiting for 2020 to end so I can go back outside
I was explaining the Nordstrom sale to my husband today and was telling him how we have to wait to shop since we don’t have a card. I told him the preview is online and he should look and save things to the wishlist. He looked at me and said: “I’m allowed to shop too?!” He was so excited. One thing quarantine has done for us is bring my love of online shopping to him. He gets it now. New Patagonia’s for both of us!
This is line Christmas!!! I love your reviews and picks! It’s so well rounded and had such amazing pieces!! I plan on stepping up my WFH game , and purchasing some matching ‘comfy’ outfits so I don’t look like a college kid studying for finals, and some grown up sheets! Hubby and I recently purchased a home so the home needs some TLC too!!
Considering I will be teaching college students in person and online…Im thinking this year I would LOVE to invest in one of the blankets…Picture this…your MUST BUY and a cozy blanket (dont worry more clothing is there too but those are only the ones worth mentioning!) Hahaha. Are you picturing it cuz I’m CRACKING up! Also I need some bras…cuz supporting these babies (no I have no actual babies) is no easy task!
I love the look of the Free People mock neck top! But let’s be honest, probably going to buy leggings, because: gained the COVID 19.
I love the way yall keep it real! Glad my husband isn’t the only one who struggles and swears while putting together our kids toys!
Although your suggested must-have is truly tempting () I would love to pick up a large Kate Spade tote or Tory Burch crossbody! Also loving the booties listed. So many possibilities to choose from!
I have my eyes on a Barbour jacket for myself and the Patagonia Nano Puff jacket for our 2 year old. I totally agree with you on the kid Uggs – we got a pair last winter for our daughter’s first winter in Chicago and they’re in great shape to make it through another winter – though I’m not sure I’m in good shape for another winter … let’s keep summer around for a bit longer!
Thanks for your thoughtful roundup of the sale this year. Cheers to some wine and retail therapy because…2020
Hiii Kelly! Crossing my fingers!! Fellow Chicago-er. Love following, great picks !! ☀️
Love this guide. So nice to see a different variety of items. I’ve got my eye on the Ugg booties and the barefoot dreams long cardigan. Can’t wait to see pics of “College Emma” in the riding boots!
If I won this giveaway I would DEF need to get my hands on the BP joggers in EVERY color possible because this girly’s WFH fit needs some upgrades!! Also dying to get my hands on some new black booties (just in case the world ever opens and I can go out again)
I would looove to say I would buy lots of colorful and cheerful tops to brighten the mood in my online classroom this fall….but teaching is hard and teaching synchronous classes online is even harder….sooooo I would probably buy 100% of the kiehl’s products and fresh sugar lip set, because self care ! And probably something Kate Spade as a reward for having survived the springtime jumble of COVID teaching
I always think I’m going to just get a thing or two and then end up with so much more! For now, I’m mostly going for some new bras. If I won, def splurging on some fancy pajamas! (Obvs everything here is for comfort because what are pants for anymore?!)
It seems we share a lot of the same sentiment about the sale, haha! I’d use the giveaways $’s for Ugg boots and winter coats for my 1.5 year old daughter and I-And from the sound of your Opalex review I need that, too!
I have my eye on some of the Moonlight pajamas with the nice collars and I don’t even work from home
Thanks for the roundup! I have the barefoot dreams lite cardi, Zella leggings, and cole haan slides on my wishlist this year. I bought a similar set of items last year when I was a week from my due date so I guess my maternity lewk isn’t too different from my pandemic chic.
The nuna RAVA car seat. My LO is going to need a bigger one at the end of the year! Maybe something for me, like those booties!
Would love the Patagonia fuzzy fleece for my 4 year old and 1.5 year old girls!
Thanks for the roundup! Super helpful. I’d like to think I’ll buy new tall boots and a cute winter coat. Instead, I’ll probably buy more pajama sets and oversized sweaters. Because I’m home for the next 6? 12? 500 months. Might as well be comfy right?!
I’m so torn for what to buy this year since I’m not wearing “work” clothes to work anymore (maybe a nicer top but leggings have been my uniform since April). So I’m stuck – more athleisure/comfy clothes or spice things up and get some cute stuff? Either way ya girl is snagging those Marc Fisher snakeskin booties. I’ve had my eye on those for a while and I’m finally gonna push the button. Thanks for all the guides – they’re so helpful!
Have some affordable things on my wishlist like the Topshop cardi but would love to indulge in a Barbour…been putting off buying one for years and can’t wait to invest! PS more college Lucy/Emma photos and videos please
What a long post :P
I think i would get a Barbour waxed jacket! So timeless
All things Zella and Bobbie Brown skin care sets! Gotta get the skin perfect for when I can re-enter society!
I would buy some joggers and other cozy clothes since I’ll be continuing to work from home until January. There’s no point in wearing pants that actually button, right?? Might also throw in a new bag for when I’m able to actually do fun things again!
Kelly, this is amazing! I love all your posts but this is the be all, end all of posts! I would love to buy so many things but would probably go for some barefoot dreams products! From one Kelly to another: thanks again for the great guide!!
I would definitely purchase another Barefoot Dreams blanket! I love mine so much that I took it to the hospital during labor! I’d also like to give Madewell denim a try!
Everything Barefoot Dreams is calling my name! Go stags!
Definitely some Patagonia. For me and my six year old who never seems to stop growing!
Thank you for all of this!
(Maybe read in an Italian accent bc I’m watching the mob thing on Netflix)… I would get a new tote, some jeans or maybe a new pair of shoes. Mostly, I would like to get some stuff for my mom, who deserves some new clothes. She is a special ed teacher and has been out for two years taking care of my father who had a stroke in 2018. Would love to get her some new clothes for her renter!
His and her barbours!!!!
I’ve been really in to those Ugg booties! They might have to go on my wish list! I’m also in love with the Gorjana necklace and earrings that kinda resemble a croissant! Although, let’s be real, would I really wear jewelry with my pjs?!? If I win the $500 you know I’m spending it all on jammies and lounge wear! . I’m so confused, I still go out to work and yet all my laundry seems to be jammies?!?
I’m kind of jammie obsessed. When I was little, my mom would treat me to new jammies after being good after a long day of adult errands! We’d come home, I’d have a bubble bath, and get in to new jammies! Once I realized I was an ‘adult’ and could buy jammies whenever I felt like it?!? Well, the floodgates opened! I guess there are a lot worse vices out there!
I just booked fall family pictures in October. This post is giving me such inspiration for our outfits! Sweaters, suede, boots, plaid! Ahhh! I love it all! Thanks Larkin Family
Barefoot Dreams!!!!! $500 worth… would be phenomenal
Would love to get a comfy work from home sweater !!!
Really just want all of the Barefoot Dreams things. 2020 is the year of comfy clothes and blankets!
DYING for that FP chunky sweater!
Wellllll, here we are, a glass of wine and a 10 page wishlist later. Not to mention I read through all the comments, laughed my face off at some badass ladies and determined I should probably invest in therapy, not the Clare V bag I am eyeing that would go real well with my pajamas.
That Gal Meets Glame striped dress has my entire heart!!! So hard to shop fall sales when I live in LA but realized I haven’t revamped my wardrobe in like 3 years so probably need to get some new stuff this year transitioning from college “going out” clothes to workwear has been harder! than! I! expected!!!
Such a fun post!!!! Definitely the Pilton Jacket. It’s so classic. And some Madewell jeans because they are lifeeeee!
Happy (almost) Weekend!!
Love the guide! I would buy some new knee height boots (going to have to be ready to do a lot of walking to stay sane this fall!) and upgrade my work from home wardrobe so I’m dressed and mentally ready for the day!
Hi to Emma from another Emma!
love this post! been eyeing the barefoot dreams leopard blanket and a new patagonia coat for my two year old
Honestly, I can’t stop buying the Nordstrom moonlight pajamas. I got four new pairs this quarantine I then go to the other extreme and buy dresses and heels I have no where to wear to A girl can dream right?
Love the recommendations!
Great list! Can’t wait to shop!
I’m going for all the comfy fall finds; leggings, booties, long sweaters, etc! Will be teaching first graders in person this fall and likely will be doing lots of yoga/movement to keep everyone sane. Long live leggings
Barefoot dreams everything! I’m over this summer and ready for cold and cozy fall!
I have a bunch of things on my wishlist but I’ll probably end up getting a pair of the Zella leggings and another Barefoot Dreams cardigan.
Desperately need a new Longchamp bag! I’m a nurse in NYC and they are the best and sturdiest! Perfect for all the stuff I schlep! Also would love some hunter boots for the fall!!
Love your post….the randomness. I’m happy to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t wear things on a regular basis. Haven’t actually worn one since my wedding day over 5 years ago, ha ha.
Ahh!! I would buy my dream Barbour jacket… but probably what I really need to get are new jeans cause thanks to covid I’m over trying to loose my baby weight. I read once the best way to fit back into jeans post baby is to just buy new jeans. But since we don’t go anywhere anymore maybe just $500 in pajamas!!
So excited for this giveaway!
First, I’d get a barefoot dreams blankie, the Bobbi brown makeup set and some cozy essentials to my mom. She’s a rockstar and has been through a lot lately.
Second, with whatever is left, I’d get some wedding items since I got married two weeks ago after deciding to postpone the big wedding/reception.
Thanks for doing this, Kelly. Good luck to everyone!
Love the Nordstrom sale! Looking forward to the restock of Jo Malone perfume just in time for my (thrice) rescheduled wedding in 2021!!!
I would like to say that I would buy some really cute things to wear… But to be honest I would probably buy leggings and oversized sweaters bc let’s be real, I am going no where so I might as well be cozy at home! Oh, and definitely some cute cozy throw blankets too!! Our pandemic puppy, Nellie, has chewed some holes in ours
So, I was sitting on my couch the other night, totally tuckered out from work, thinking about my new climate (just moved to KC from the hot South) and I DEF have my eye on that beautiful Barbour barn jacket. On another note, I was watching Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi – was very appropriate to be thinking about fall because episode 2 is based in Milwaukee and features (of course) beer and Usingers sausage! Oktoberfest and fall are coming!!!! Highly recommend to break up the normal rotation of tv, and honestly the whole show is really insightful so far.
Gimme allllll the Barefoot Dreams! Cardigans and blankets = WFH uniform.
This guide is incredible! I would definitely buy some of the cozy work from home essentials and blankets, since as a psychiatry resident, much of my day has changed to virtual work!
Wedding shoes for our day that’s now in 2021! Can’t shop right now because I just graduated nursing school and became an RN but all the nyc hospitals have hiring freezes- the irony that is this pandemic! Can’t wait for some good, old ~fashion~ Retail therapy!
Seriously going to need the Commando leggings and Cole Haan boots! My days of running carpool are going to need a hazmat suit and this items will be the beginning of my “stylish” hazmat “Covid” protection. How many kiddos are going to do the kiss/hug THEN put on their Superhero mask then trade it for the cool Frozen mask before afternoon carpool??? Can I wear my leggings and boots under a Spacesuit?? ♀️♀️♀️♀️♀️♀️ PS. I LOVE MY JOB, I REALLY DO!!
Have my eyes on the Tory Burch Carson crossbody you know, for all the going out I’m NOT doing right now
100% would buy the Blondo OTK waterproof boots… I own one pair but I love them so much I would die for another! They are THE best on the market. And so cute and stylish too-so easy to dress up!
It really seems like Nordstrom captured the mood of the moment with this sale! I have a nice wishlist of activewear building, but with a win here… Probably add some barefoot dreams. I love the windowpane/plaid throw.
I would get a frank and Eileen shirt and some jeans! Thanks for all the hard work on this post. Lazy people like me appreciate you!!
What a thorough and wonderful post! With $500 (whoa! Awesome!) I’d either snag the $500 All Saints leather moto, or, more likely, get the Nordstrom ruana, a Barefoot Dreams blanket, some Ecco or Sofft shoes, those Gibson twist-front shirts, the simple Ugg slippers, and a variety of cozy socks!
Ahhh!! All such good finds. If I won I definitely Am getting the PJ SALVAGE set in Heather grey, THREAD & SUPPLY cardigan coat, and Veja Sneakers. Thank you for your super extensive list and all the effort you pit into it.
Love your picks! I’d go for all the cashmere because I just turned 30 and feel like 30 year olds wear cashmere. That’s a thing right?
Oooh can’t wait! Nordstrom is going to ban me soon since I buy various sizes & have to ship so much back! They closed our store so…thank goodness for free shipping & returns!!
My wish list is full! Pink Ugg slippers for my daughter, new slip ons for me, a pair of jeans & a few other deals! :)
And we’re ready for fall here. Orlando is on the surface of the sun!!
Give me ALL the loungewear because there’s no buttons happening this quarantine!
I need alllllllllll the barefoot dreams!!!!! Plus a pair of the Spanks faux leather leggings and a pair or two of boots…. Ohhh yeah I could spend this $$$ real quick
Love the list! I really want ugg slippers, an ugh blanket, and the Patagonia Radalie insulated parka!
I’m planning on buying cardigans, sweaters, and boujie hand soaps
100% over the knee Stuart Weitzman boots. I drool over them.
I would get a Patagonia parka and some new adidas gym shoes!
Hi Kelly! If I won the $500, I would buy the Steve Madden platform sneakers (I’ve been wanting some like these ALL summer) and probably a ton of *nice* tops (and by nice, I mean not a pajama shirt that I’ve been wearing in quarantine all year). As for funnies, these are some of my favorite jokes: What’s brown and sticky? A STICK! How do you make a tissue dance? You put a little boogie in it! Two olives were sitting on a wall and one fell down. The other olive asked “are you ok??” to which the fallen olive said “O-live” (get it? Like I’ll live?! A real knee slapper). Anyway, hope you are all doing well during this time!
I need the leggings you are wearing, actually all the leggings you linked. And the free people sweater. Actually all the sweaters you linked. And the longchamps bag. And the Tory. Actually all the bags you linked. Sigh.
I’m not going to go too crazy this year because of COVID but I want to refresh some of my basics! Nice new pair of jeans and new winter jacket is top of my list. And some cozy PJs! Looks like we’re not getting dressed for a little while longer here!
With a new baby to cuddle in 2 weeks, the barefoot dreams cardigan has been on my wishlist and would definitely be the first thing in my shopping cart! I’m also wanting some easy slip one and cute joggers!
I hope I can get at least one of the products and not all sells out when it get to me
What a comprehensive guide!
Teacher virtual schooling staples:
ALL the Spanx leggings that look more professional than they feel, and ALL the cozy cardigans that make you look more professional than you feel!
Also here is my attempt at Impress Kelly with my humor:
What do you call a noodle in disguise?
– an im-pasta!
Why did the noodle’s rap album go gold?
– he was good at ramen
Our summer Black Friday! I have always wanted a Barbour jacket and each year I check the sale but never pull the trigger ♀️ And seeing that I’ll be remote until there’s a vaccine, I’m ready to stock up on new winter pajamas!
You and your family are so sweet and you’ve really been a bright spot through these crazy times for me.
Barefoot dreams, veja, longchamp, etc – depends how stressed I am (high stress = more purchases).
First ever entry to any influenced giveaway – whoo boo! Thanks for not requiring us to follow 10 other influencers :)
I’m hoping to finally get a Barbour jacket, and I definitely need to stock up on loungewear/comfy work from home clothes! :)
I want to get the waterproof blondi boots, some new hanky-panky underwear, and some lipstick!!!
I really want the Ugg Karoline Fleece Robe – I feel like I need to invest in my lounge around the house wardrobe since we’ve going to be home until the end of time. I have to been bringing my A game
All the Barecoot Dreams cardigans which will come in quite handy during this time at home!
I’m planning on getting the Thule double stroller! Baby #2 is due in November so we’re definitely in need of a double stroller soon. I also love the little girl ugg boots and the little girl Hunter rain boots, the hunters are I might also get a few “boy” newborn/0-3 outfits. Trying to not go overboard this year
Loving so much in this post!!!
Thank you for the picks! Very helpful & very excited to shop!
Def a dress and maybe white sneakers. Though may be too late in the season to then wear! Thanks for the round up!
What would I get? Tough one because there are sooo many great items. Definitely the Barefoot dreams leopard cardigan because I love all things barefoot dreams. I’d also love the spanx faux leather leggings and new uggs for the cooler months ahead. Oh and the olaplex set you mention! Seriously, my wish list is endless haha! Thank you for this great round up & giveaway. :)
Thank you for such a comprehensive guide! I want to buy a new pair of shoes likely some Chuck’s. I also would like to purchase Barbour’s Pilton quilted coat
This post would have taken me 177269 years to put together, so thanks for doing it for us! I’ve had my eye on that leopard print Claire V tote.
Ooo definitely eyeing the baby/kids display! Boring yet necessary: probably should go for the nuna (flame-retardant free!) Rear-facing car seat. Kids should be rear-facing longer than you think- and flame retardants are never a good thing. If there’s money left over I’ll go to the women’s section and get a pair of shoes, Sam Edelman or another classic
I’d for sure buy at least one Barefoot Dreams blanket! Every year I contemplate getting one but still can’t bring myself to spend that much on a blanket!
I honestly was going to say “probably nothing because I’ve never even shopped at Nordstrom” and then I looked at your blog post and had to resist running to my purse for my credit card… “need that, and that, and that… it doesn’t get cold enough in Florida for a Barbour but yolo…”
I would buy some cardigans, my favorite sweater! I even have a Cardigan Welsh corgi named Charlie. I would get some skin care, some pjs and maybe something for my husband !
Oh Kelly I NEED the Paige Horton Skinnies!! And my kids love anything Patagonia! That’s what I’m choosing in the Anniversary Sale.
My husband and I have rediscovered the show ‘Scrubs’ on Hulu and are laughing our way through it! It’s so great! If you haven’t seen it, we highly recommend it!
Happy Summer and here’s hoping Fall brings health, happiness and Covid-free good times!❤️
I have been in need of a new pair of jeans so excited to try some new brands with the sale!
My birthday is August 21. Pandemic birthdays are sad birthdays but $500 would make it a happier birthday! . Love your roundup. I’ve had my eye on Barbour for a long time and feel compelled to pull the trigger this year.
