Early access to the long-awaited Nordstrom Anniversary Sale–the biggest sale of the year, when new arrivals and bestsellers from top brands are temporarily marked down–starts Friday, August 7th for “Ambassador” cardmembers!

Below, you can find more details on when everyone can shop. (Everyone can, however, add products to their carts right now, which is nice! They’ll be saved to your “Wishlist,” and you can simply check out once you gain access to the sale.) One fun thing everyone can do right now?! Enter to win $500 to shop the sale, just by leaving a comment at the bottom of this ridiculously long blog post! Btw: I recently fixed the comments section section of the blog, and I’m really excited about it. 😆

Here’s how to enter to win $500 to shop:

  • Click here to browse and tell me (in the comments section at the bottom of this blog post) what you’d buy if you won the $500! (Don’t worry. It doesn’t have to add up to $500 — It can be anything, even this must-have for 2020. What do you have your eye on?! Note: You can add products to your “Wishlist” this year, which makes shopping easy once you gain access to the sale!)
  • Bonus points for commenting with something funny, entertaining or interesting. Not required, but THE LARKINS ARE REALLY BORED RIGHT NOW. ;)
  • Be sure to enter your email address in the form so I can contact you if you win. It will not be published; I am the only person who will see it, and you will not be signed up for any newsletters. Pinky swear!
  • That’s it! (Seriously.)

The winner will be announced, contacted and rewarded the prize via Paypal or Venmo on August 19th, which is when the sale opens to the public. And don’t worry: I promise that there will be tons of goodness still in stock at that point!

Edit: Congratulations to Sara B. for winning! I was profoundly affected by her story. Mitch exported all the entries to a spreadsheet and used a randomizer to select a winner… and then I went back to read Sara’s comment before I contacted her. Sara is pregnant with her second child, and she’s taking care of her husband who’s battling cancer as well as their 18-month-old daughter, who I’m going to assume has a lot of energy! Sara’s entry was upbeat and kind and hilarious–and I’m left feeling so unbelievably inspired by her disposition and outlook. I really thought that the summer would lift my spirits, and I’d get a break from the sadness. And while it has provided that at times, I still struggle; it’s just such a day-to-day thing. One day I feel hopeful and the next I feel hopeless. I’m a firm believer in the idea that all feelings are valid, but I’m also a firm believer in the power of perspective. If Sara can do 2020, so can I. Congratulations, Friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you this year. Keep smiling! ♥️

The details

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale schedule

All the details

If you’re a cardmember, you gain “Early Access” anytime between August 4th (today) and August 13th, depending on your status. (Icon, Ambassador, Influencer or Insider.) Not sure of what your status is? You can check here. Non-cardmembers gain access on August 19th.

Regardless, everyone can preview the sale here, which is a new feature this year!

But let’s pause and collect ourselves for a moment.

It goes without saying that 2020 is not the time to empty out our bank accounts during a sale. This a great time to save on casual and comfortable everyday staples, but it’s just a sale. No need to panic or get swept up in the frenzy. This will not be the last great deal, and don’t shop just because it seems like everyone else is shopping.

If you’re in the position to do so, set a budget and stick to it by putting thought into your purchases. (While also having some fun!) But if you’re not in the position, don’t feel badly about it. This has been a crap year and most of the world is down on their luck. You are not alone. ♥️

A great idea here would be to use the sale simply as outfit inspiration. At the bottom of every sale product, you’ll find a few different looks. Similarly, lots of bloggers will be sharing outfits from these pieces. Chances are that you can create something similar with what’s already in your closet! (Here’s an example.)

(Also keep in mind that I run a style-focused blog, and part of what I do is review and guide shopping decisions. I would not own what I own were it not for that! Mitch just chimed in and said, “Fun fact! Kelly owned one dress in 2009.” It’s true. BUT IT WAS A KILLER DRESS and I had a tiny closet and to be fair, it was an extremely versatile little thing and I miss it. RIP, Old Friend.)

Overall impression

As a whole, though, I’m very impressed with the way that Nordstrom has handled the sale this year; I see a marked difference in the included products, and the selection really seems to reflect the lifestyle shift that most have experienced in 2020. (With an exception here or there. Actually, Carole Baskin is very 2020 and would obviously approve. 😆)

As such, I focused (mostly) on casual and comfortable everyday staples while curating this post for readers. Like most people, I spent the first part of this year wallowing and cowering in the same leggings and sweatshirts every day, but I slowly learned that getting dressed and putting some effort in makes a big difference in my outlook and disposition, and it helps me stay motivated. I also try to (safely) spend as much time outside as possible these days, especially with little kids… and want to continue that throughout the rest of the year. If you’re in the same boat, the sale may help to fill some 2020 wardrobe holes. :)

Now that we’ve been over all that, I need to celebrate for a second because THIS TOOK ME FOREVER.

…Okay. I’m back.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Booties

Steve Madden Nadali Booties: So sharp-looking.

Sam Edelman Daruby Booties: Love the toe shape and rise; like the Steve Madden pair, you don’t have to worry about bunching with pants. Your jeans either go over ’em or your leggings go under! So easy.

Blondo Sydney Waterproof Booties: Blondo will change your life. Never again will you have to worry about stepping into a puddle and having your day ruined. They’re magic! Totally waterproof.

Blondo Valli Waterproof Booties: Samesies. Just a bit more casual.

Ugg Shearling Booties: I am a total Ugg convert. They speak to me on a deeply personal level. In short, I could not exist in Chicago without them, and I can’t believe it took me a solid 15 years to come back to them. They’re gifts from the gods.

Cole Haan Taylor Waterproof Booties: LOVE THESE. Cole Haan makes some of the most comfortable shoes ever, and the quality is top-notch. I’ve been wearing them since my first job, when my mother got me a pair because my feet hurt so much. Game-changer!

Lucky Brand Lilka Suede Booties: These are the perfect go-with-everything bootie, and they’re priced right.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Boots

Steve Madden Nifty Over-the-Knee Boots: This pair and the pair next to it are probably my top choices. It’s always Steve Madden vs. Sam Edelman in this category!

Sam Edelman Davis Knee-High Boots: I do think, however, that Sam Edelman wins this year. Love the toe shape.

Stuart Weitzman Over-the-Knee Boots: This is the splurge. Though I will say that out of all the over-the-knee tie boots, they do stay up best. Worth it, but only if you’re going to wear them a LOT. I’ve had mine for four years now and they get a ridiculous amount of wear.

Vince Camuto Derika Boots: I would destroy these immediately but they also come in black so there’s that.

Blondo Waterproof Over-the-Knee Boots: This pair makes a bit more sense than the Stuart Weitzman pair. Plus the boots are WATERPROOF. The only thing is that the product page says that they’re for narrow calves and that they are not. Very normal, and you can expect a little scrunching. (Cute scrunching, though!)

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Loafers and flats

Steve Madden Feather Loafer: Known for being wildly comfy… and it comes in a bunch of colors.

Steve Madden Leopard Feather Loafer: Here it is in leopard.

Steve Madden Chain Mule: Definitely inspired by the famous Gucci loafers. It’s shown here in black, but it also comes in white, leopard and tan. The alternative is Sam Edelman’s mule. (Predictable, haha.)

Woven Mule: I love these! So preppy. They also come in gold.

Marc Fisher Square Toe Loafer: I remember trying these on last year and thinking they were SO comfortable! They come in pink crocodile and tan, too.

Franco Sarto Pointed Toe Loafer: Also wonderfully comfy. Bone is shown here, but the black is great as well.

Paul Green Kiltie Loafer: An investment, but a solid pair of Kiltie loafers is hard to find. Brown is my jam, but also love the black.

Cole Haan Leopard Skimmer Flat: You know my feelings on Cole Haan. Can’t go wrong. Have an older pair of these and love them!

Cole Haan Skimmer Flat: Love the tiny heel; makes me feel a little fancier without sacrificing comfort.

Treasure & Bond Mule: A great basic. Also check out the black and leopard.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Leggings: faux leather, faux suede, and everyday

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: I need to be honest here and say that I love the Spanx faux leather leggings just as much as I love the Commando ones and I’m pretty sure I wear them both equally. The Spanx are a bit lighter, though, I suppose. I also feel like they stretch like crazy yet don’t stretch OUT, if that makes sense. I have a size small from my non-pregnant days and a size large from pregnancy, and both still work. It’s crazy. So don’t worry about sizing too much!

Commando Faux Leather Leggings: And the Commando pair is my go-to when it’s super cold in Chicago. They’re a little thicker and warmer. They’re the ones I’m wearing in the above photo!

Nordstrom Faux Leather Leggings: These look VERY much like the Spanx, but they’re only $28.90. Alternatives are Halogen’s Faux Leather Leggings and BP.’s Faux Leather Leggings.

Halogen High Waist Ponte Leggings: I can’t tell you how often I wear these! And I can’t believe this year’s price: Only $28.90. Not that many people are going into the office these days, but they’re a very thick material and you can totally pull ’em off as workwear. At the same time, though, they look fantastic when worn more casually, with sweaters or button-downs or whatever. Highly recommend; a great basic. An alternative is Nordstrom’s Everyday Basic High Waist Crop Ponte Leggings.

Zella High Waist “Live In” Leggings: I’ve heard SO many great things about Zella, and that they’re comparable to Lululemon’s Align Leggings. They sure beat Lululemon in price, though! For $38.90, I’m definitely giving them a try. They’re apparently great for both workouts and everyday wear.

BlankNYC Faux Suede Leggings: Hallelujah! Why did suede leggings go away? So glad they’re back. Super comfy yet make you look like you know something about fashion. I adore mine!

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Loungewear, pajamas + everyday basics

Wubby Fleece Pullover: Everyone loves this thing, including me. It’s just so FLUFFY. Size down, though; it’s on the larger side and if you’re not careful you can end up looking like a Furby. But man is it great when the weather starts to cool. Kids love snuggling into it, too, haha.

Short Pajamas: A classic pair of PJs for the end of summer/early fall.

Long Pajamas: And a longer pair if your husband likes to keep the thermostat at below-freezing temps. It’s fine.

Ugg Fleece Bow Socks: These are in my cart, because of that damn thermostat. They’ll be kept right under my desk and I anticipate that they’ll solve that little marital problem. ;) The bow!

Barefoot Dreams Socks: Oh but NO ONE makes softer lounge socks than Barefoot Dreams. Ugh. DECISIONS. I love socks so much. I once got into a years-long fight with Jess over the greatness of a particular pair of Butter socks. She’s since come around and feels foolish and owns many pairs. 😜 “In cute patterns, Kelly. It’s different!” Whatever, Jess. (I’m here all night. But actually. 😩)

Zella Long-Sleeve Performance Tee: I’m not the most athletic, but I’m thinking about becoming a little athletic. This looks like it could take me there.

BP. Ribbed Long-Sleeved Tee: Basics, basics, basics. Perfect for under cardigans and blazers.

Cheslea28 Long-Sleeve Layering Tee: Same.

Long-Sleeved Crewneck Tee: Way more casual but just as functional.

1.STATE Cozy Knit Top: Is this not fantastic? So many colors, too! This is the kind of top I would pair with sequined leggings and try to pass the outfit off as a New Year’s look or something. In the name of warmth and all ladies 35 and older.

Pocket Tee: Pocket tees are so hard to find! Why? No one knows. They’re clearly superior to other tees. Emma agrees. Just be sure to check said pockets before laundering.

Dolman Thermal Top: Oh yes.

Caslon Thermal Henley: Double yes.

Free People Thermal Henley: You could roll out of bed wearing this, log onto Zoom, and still look fairly cool.

ALLSAINTS Striped Top: Paired with black leggings. The ultimate work-from-home look.

Topshop Knit Midi Dress: I’m loving this. Not sure how forgiving it would be, but wouldn’t it look adorable with booties? I might be bold and try it.

Cozy Jogger Pants: If you don’t have a pair of jogger pants, you’re missing out. Absolutely NO jogging takes place in them; they’re just really cute and look great with chambray shirts and slip-on sneakers. (To be honest, I don’t know how else to wear them, but this works for me.)

BP. Jogger Pants: Another option. :)

Gibson Cozy Top: Gibson’s Cozy Line is so good. Ridiculously soft. You’ll reach for it every day this fall, I promise.

Gibson Cozy Blouse: This is new and I’m SO excited about it! Not that I’m going out anytime soon, but I just think it looks like a top that could be passed off as a going out top. Clearly I’m into trickery and tomfoolery but comfort + warmth over all else.

BP. Cozy Top: Another option. But I still think Gibson wins in terms of coziness.

BB Dakota Jumpsuit: If you pee less than I do, you may be able to handle this. :)

Gibson Cozy Twist Top: I’ve had this one for years and it remains a favorite.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Jeans

Rag & Bone High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans: #1 pick out of all the sale jeans this year. Excited to try! The wash and rise are just perfect, and I won’t have to get them hemmed. The alternative is the darker mid-rise version.

Wit & Whimsy $44.90 Ab Solution High Waist Skinny Jeans: Second pick, and I can’t believe that they’re less than $45! I’ve never tried Wit & Whimsy before but people say great things.

Madewell High Waist Black Skinny Jeans: Madewell is normally my favorite brand of jeans. They’re the comfiest and most flattering, and usually beat out the other designers when it comes to price.

Paige Hoxton Skinny Jeans: I love Paige; a great pair of everyday dark skinnies.

7 For All Mankind High Waist Skinny Ankle Jeans: Another option. Very soft and stretchy!

AG Ex-Boyfriend Slim High Rise Jeans: I’m really into boyfriend jeans these days. I find that the slim cuts are more flattering on my frame. This pair looks great!

7 For All Mankind Josefina Crop Slim Boyfriend Jeans: This pair looks even better. The higher the waist, the better!

AG The Farrah High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans: I adore very light washes paired with white tops. This pair looks great.

Joe’s Charlie High Rise Jeans: Joe’s were my first pair of nice jeans! I bought them right after a bad breakout, and man. They helped, haha. These are super soft and run a little big. Order a size down. The alternative is the medium wash ankle version. There’s also a coated black version.

AG The Legging Black Ankle Jeans: AG’s “The Legging” is their claim to fame. You can be sure that these are fantastic, if you’re in the market for a new pair of black jeans. (Great for pairing with chambray shirts and camel sweaters! Gotta have a pair.)

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Patagonia*

Better Sweater Quarter Zip: This is the best pullover. In general, Patagonia runs on the smaller side, so I always go up one size. I have the “Birch White” color but I also love the “Pelican,” which is shown above. It also comes in a (sale) full zip.

Los Gatos Fleece Vest: I have the Khaki. It’s my most-worn vest because it’s just so soft and cuddly. I throw it on whenever I need an extra layer of warmth. It looks particularly good with a flannel shirt underneath! It also comes in a (sale) pullover version.

Radalie Water-Repellent Insulated Parka: Huge fan of this. I have it in green, which has since been discontinued I believe, but all three colors included in the sale are great. I wear this throughout the fall, winter and spring, depending on how cold it is. (I go for it when temps are around 40 degrees… though it’s good when it’s colder and I’m just running to the car.) Runs small so definitely go a size up.

Nano Puff Hooded Water-Resistant Jacket: Such a classic!

Nano Puff Water-Repellent Puffer Jacket: Same with this one. Nano Puff jackets are lighter but they pack a punch. I wear them in the fall and spring, or when traveling to warmer climates. (Sadness.)

*You can view all Anniversary Sale Patagonia here.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Barbour*

Classic Waxed Jacket with REMOVABLE shearling: THIS is the winning Barbour of the sale. It has the classic silhouette and waxed material, and don’t worry about the weird shearling collar. It comes off and exposes a beautiful suede collar (as shown in the above picture). I wear a U.S. 4 in Barbour if that’s helpful!

Pilton Quilted Barn Jacket: SUCH a cute barn jacket and preppy alternative to a utility coat. Love exactly how the model is wearing it.

Quilted Trench Coach: If you want the trench coat look but are absolutely miserable in a traditional one because they provide no warmth at all.

Riselaw Rain Coat: Might as well have a cute rain coat to distract from the frizz.

*You can view all Anniversary Sale Barbour here.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Outerwear

Cole Haan Smooth Lambskin Leather Jacket: First leather jacket I’ve ever loved! How cute.

Cole Haan Wrap Coat: This looks SO SOFT. Here it is in black.

Caslon Utility Jacket: I personally love utility jackets. Paired with jeans and a white, black or striped tee, they’re so classic looking. Love that this one is collarless, feminine and soft-looking.

Houndstooth Wool Coat: Love anything houndstooth!

Sam Edelman Wool Coat: This will sell out SO quickly so pounce if you love it. It also comes in black and red but let’s be serious: no one needs a black or red coat if they have a fabulous camel one. It’s perfect for all occasions!

Halogen Camel Wool Coat: Another great camel coat option.

Via Spiga Faux Fur Vest: Am I crazy for loving this?! I REALLY like it. It’s shown here in black but it comes in white, too. I’m here for it.

Bernardo Plaid Coat: Gosh this is beautiful. Here’s the Theory version. (Sigh.)

Sam Edelman Trench Coat: I know I previously talked some trash about trench coats, but I should note that I absolutely adore the look and those comments came from a place of envy. If you do not have Raynaud’s Syndrome, this would likely be perfect for you. Another option is Pendleton’s trench coat.

Thread & Supply Quilted Barn Jacket: Yep yep yep. If you loved Barbour’s barn jacket, this is a more affordable option!

Bernardo Belted Coat: This is so classy. But it might also be because of the model’s pose. I don’t know.

Thread & Supply Cardi Coat: Very chic if worn with skinny jeans. Really lovin’ it.

Vince Wrap Coat: An investment, but gorgeous.

Theory Wool and Cashmere Trench Coat: Love this one even more. Of course it’s my favorite out of all the coats. Here it is in a beautiful plaid.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Barefoot Dreams*

CozyChic Lite Long Cardigan: I have it in “Bisque” and fully intend on buying it in the “Cocoa” color (shown above) this sale. Everything that you hear about Barefoot Dreams is true. Softest sweaters I’ve ever owned, and worth every penny. Just have one cardigan instead of five! ;)

CozyChic Lite Long Weekend Waffle Cardigan: GET THIS. It’s my #1 recommendation this year. I literally wear mine every day in the home office; it’s wonderfully soft and provides so much warmth. I keep it on the back of my chair and reach for it every morning. It’s more substantial than the first Barefoot dreams cardigan but not in an overwhelming way.

CozyChic Leopard Cardigan: Oooooh this is cute. Shoutout to all my Caroles.

CozyChic Socks: *Adds to cart.*

*You can view all Anniversary Sale Barefoot Dreams here.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Cardigans

Leith Cozy Long Cardigan: This number definitely wins the cardigan game this sale. (Outside of Barefoot Dreams, of course.) It’s reasonably prices and comes in a ton of colors, and I love the drapey look. Also love this very similar cashmere long cardigan if you’re looking to go more upscale.

Treasure & Bond Longline Cardigan: Very prep! The alternative is this BP. cardigan and this Topshop cardigan.

Caslon Open Front Cardigan: Not sure I could pull off the stripe, but it comes in a lot of basic colors, too.

Halogen Throw-On Cashmere Ruana: These things are magic. I bring them along with me on chillier nights when I’m wearing dresses.

Leith Open Front Dolman Sleeve Cardigan: Another option!

Topshop Cable-Sleeve Cardigan: Trendy but Grandpaish at the same time. How does Topshop do it?!

Topshop Ribbed Open Front Cardigan: So cuddly.

2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide

Sweaters

Halogen Cashmere Crewneck Sweater: This is the best sweater deal of the sale! Cashmere for under $58. I would recommend the white and black as fantastic basics that’ll last forever. But this is the non-cashmere crewneck version with quarter-length arms, and here’s the version with longer arms, both of which are only $28.90. Two other alternatives are BP.’s version and Treasure & Bond’s version.

Rachel Parcell Puff Sleeve Turtleneck Sweater: Hate puff sleeves on me but love them on everyone else. It’s weird.

Free People Chunky Sweater: There’s always a winner Free People sweater, and this is clearly it. The stuff Pinterest dreams are made of.

Cheslea28 Cowl Neck Sweater: So cute, right?! Great color selection, too.

Free People Oversized Slouchy Sweater: Love it in black and also in camel. I’ll be honest and say that I have to limit myself to only owning a couple of sweaters like this because otherwise I’d wear them every day. Fantastic with leggings or super-skinny jeans! This is another oversized option.

Free People Afterglow Mockneck Oversized Sweater: See? The black is worth looking at as well.

ALLSAINTS Oversized Funnelneck Sweater: So expensive but it shows, haha. Love the Toffee Brown but also the black. Other amazing high-end sweaters include the Vince Mockneck Sweater, Vince Cable-Knit Mockneck Sweater, Nordstrom Signature Cashmere Pullover and Nordstrom Signature Boatneck Cable Cashmere Sweater.

Theory Cashmere Short-Sleeved Sweater: Friends rave about this and wait for it to go on sale! Another tailored option is Vince’s elbow-sleeve sweater.

Treasure & Bond Sweater Hoodie: With leather leggings, of course.

Caslon Chenille Turtleneck Sweater: CHENILLE. *Adds to cart.* Fabulous for pairing with fancy pants. You look dressy yet feel cozy! Chenille has that sparkle to it, you know? It’s a wonder material.

Tory Burch

Tory Burch*

Carson Leather Tote: This comes in brown and black, and it’s the classic Tory Burch tote. Only buy during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The savings is awesome.

Carson Continental Wallet: I have this wallet! (Or an older version of it, at least.)

Carson Crossbody: Comes in black, too. Has anyone else find themselves returning to crossbodies? I suppose because all I do it walk around with the stroller, and it’s nice to have a smaller bag with the essentials: keys, cell phone, mask, snack, stray legos, doggy bag, etc.

Carson Zip Top Crossbody: It comes in black but come on who’s getting black when you can have red? (Paired with a stripe top. Adorbs.)

Leigh Loafer: Only one pair of Tory shoes this year?! Boo. These are cute, though. Lots of colors.

* You can view all Anniversary Sale Tory Burch here.

Longchamp

Longchamp

Le Pliage Expandable Tote: If you’re in love, CHECK OUT. They don’t last long. And yes, the expandable is better than the original! For obvious reasons for my fellow packrats and people who could fill an entire trash bag with the content of their purses by the end of the week–even in quarantine. Btw: these bags fold up and travel great. They never go out of style, either! Black and green are my suggestions.

Le Pliage Leather Shoulder Bag: Another option!

Madewell

Madewell*

High-Waist Black Skinny Jeans: Again, Madewell jeans are always the best. Perfect with chambray shirts, striped tops, and camel sweaters.

Classic Striped Ex-Boyfriend Shirt: Love the Ex-Boyfriend cut!

Leopard Transport Tote: I have the cognac leather one, but this one packs a punch for outfits. It also comes in a smaller size.

Remi Mule: Comes in black, blush and leopard.

Oversized Jean Jacket: Love the longer length and seriously considering it because of that! Does anyone know if it’s soft?

Kent Cardigan Sweater: Madewell’s most popular cardigan. Heather Fog is the color… but it also comes in a fun stripe.

Sonia Chelsea Bootie: The classic Madewell bootie.

*You can view all Anniversary Sale Madewell here.

J.Crew

J.Crew*

High-Rise Slim Stretch Crepe Pants: I’ll say that J.Crew normally has a sale of its own going on, so keep that in mind. But Nordstrom is offering some exclusive J.Crew products, which is fun. These pants come in navy and black.

Long Cardigan: Comes in black, navy, gray and camel.

Popover Top: This navy and white strip is a great basic but OH the polka dots.

Leopard Print Merino Sweater: Perfect under blazers.

Schoolboy Stretch Crepe Blazer: Ah! The blazer! I suppose you can picture it now. Here it is in navy, but the black would be better with that leopard sweater.

*You can view all Anniversary Sale J.Crew here.

Blazers

Blazers

Halogen Glen Plaid Blazer: All right, guys. It’s getting late. What is there to say about all these blazers? I’m not sure. I’m a huge fan of the plaid.

1.STATE Black Blazer: But also the solid.

Treasure & Bond Plaid Blazer: I have a similar brown one from a previous year’s sale and I wear it a LOT in the fall.

Gibson Cozy Blazer: This is KNIT! You’re welcome.

BB Dakota Plaid Blazer: BB Dakota makes extremely flattering blazers. No bulk. Longer length. All goodness. No badness.

J.Crew Schoolboy Crepe Blazer: It’s a classic. Size up.

Shirts and tops

Shirts and tops

Thread & Supply Flannel Shirt: This is selling out so quickly. :(

Rails Button-Down Shirt: Definitely my favorite white button-down because it’s so soft and cozy, unlike the crispy ones. Here’s the plaid Rails shirt. It’s really cute!

Caslon Lace Top: So many color options! But every girl needs a cute lacey top.

CeCe Tie-Sleeve Top: A nice top for going out. Not.

Caslon Henley Top: Accidentally included this here too so let’s move on.

Vince Camuto Ruffled Collar Tee: The ruffle around the neck! Three A+ colors.

Madewell Polka Dot Top: Drapey and lovely.

Halogen Tie-Neck Top: They brought it back!

1.STATE Smocked Top: Love wrinkle-resistant tops.

Halogen Houndstooth Tie Top: SO CUTE. That tie!

Halogen Tie Top: And here it is in black.

Madewell Bubble-Sleeve Top: This looks delightfully cozy. I’m tired. The black looks good, too.

Frank & Eileen Button-Down Striped Shirt: Here’s the shirt in white. Why are they selling out so quickly?! Have always wanted to try. Oh well. Here’s a far more affordable striped version.

Rails Chambray Shirt: What do we think about the raw hem? LOVE Rails but typically don’t go for raw hems.

Rails Plaid Button-Down Shirt: I have an older version of this and it’s ridiculously soft and cozy. Clearly the theme of this post.

Dresses at Nordstrom

Dresses

Gal Meets Glam Stripe Maxi Dress: Highlighting dresses for late fall/winter seems a bit silly, but I for one live in dresses during the summer/early fall because of ease. (Throw it on and ready to go!) For those of you who are desperately hanging on to summer, this Gal Meets Glam is prepfection. Yep, I just said that.

Eliza J Ruffle Neck Navy Dress: My favorite! That striped ruffle!

Tiered Midi Dress: A good everyday dress for these last few months of warmth; looks like it would travel well.

Eliza J Striped Shirtdress: Can’t resist a stripe.

Frank & Eileen T-Shirt Dress: People love this dress but I’ve always been put off by the price, considering it’s a t-shirt dress. Very discounted, though. Would you do it? (I’m still a no, haha. But cute!)

Eliza J Navy Wrap Dress: Anyone have a socially distant outdoor wedding to attend? I do! (My brother-in-law and future sister-in-law. I’m the socially distant photographer! So excited.) This is a top contender.

Rachel Parcell Pleated Dress: No need for it but LOVE so it’s here, haha. It’ll be a minute before I find myself in form-fitting dresses because of all the ice cream I’ve consumed in the last six months but love it. It comes in black, too. Also check out this simpler pink A-line dress and simpler white A-line dress.

Harper Rose High Neck Navy Dress: Reminds me of sailing. Which reminds me of Nantucket. Which reminds me of my family. Which reminds me that I’m sad. UGH, NORDSTROM.

Underwear at Nordstrom

Underwear

Hanky Panky Underwear: I kind of can’t believe that I’m blogging about a thong but if I HAVE to recommend one, it’s this one because it’s the only one I will wear. Here’s the regular-rise and the mid-rise. And here’s the bikini. This five-pack of Commando thongs is supposed to be good; this one is supposed to disappear under clothing. Omg okay it’s over PHEW.

Wacoal Strapless Bra: Crazy high reviews. Hate strapless bras but need one? Try!

Free People Bralette: This is really cute under off-the-shoulder sweaters or stuff that is more revealing than you’d like. Just looks like a pretty tank underneath without the bulk. Seems out of character that I own this, yes. I totally agree. But I get a lot of use out of mine!

Zella Soft Gray Bra: Again, if I would athletic, I’d totes wear this. Supposed to be very soft.

Natori Sports Bra: Same. I like this. This Spanx one and this True & Co. one are good alternatives.

Calvin Klein Lounge Bra: THIS speaks to the Current Kelly, though. It’s also apparently pretty good for working out in, so if I turn into Athletic Kelly, I can still wear it. (Hahahaha never going to happen.)

On Gossamer Bump It Up Bra: Apparently works miracles. I should look into this.

sneakers

Sneakers

Adidas Swift Run Sneaker: The cool thing is that these days, even non-sporty people can pull off sporty sneaks. Love this pair!

Cole Haan Slip-On Sneaker: The pink and black are great. Slip-ons are my fave.

Crest Vibe Slip-On Sneaker: Sperry sneakers for the ultimate preps out there.

Cole Haan Leopard Slip-On Sneaker: I already have the Rothy’s, but if I didn’t, these would be in my cart!

Stan Smith Sneaker: So in style right now! They look fantastic with all jeans.

Dr. Scholl’s Scout Slip-On Sneaker: Dr. Scholl’s may not be cool, but black slip-ons are cool and therefore these are cool yet COMFY sneaks. The pink is cute, too.

Bags, jewelry +other accessories

Bags, jewelry +other accessories

Nordstrom Cubic Zirconia Earrings: I am not a “real jewelry” girl. Mitch definitely could have (and probably should have) given me a fake diamond ring; I would’ve been just as happy. So these are right up my alley! All the sparkle, none of the monies.

Kate Spade Sunglasses: My best sunglasses are KS.

Kate Spade Leather Tote: Perfect everyday tote. I TOTES still use totes because hello, gotta haul around the kid stuff. The Marc Jacobs bag is a great alternative.

Monica Vinader Engravable Friendship Bracelet: One of the only real pieces of jewelry I own, but I do have to admit that I adore it! It’s engravable, and thus I’ve given it to so many friends and family with special things engraved on it over the years. A super sentimental and lovely gift.

Kate Spade Initial Necklace: Get it! What a steal. I need to get back into wearing simple jewelry!

Textured Cashmere Scarf: Winter is coming.

Kate Spade Wallet: Though seriously just use Apple Pay.

Kate Spade Shoulder Bag: I used one of my nicer bags a few weeks ago when I went “out” with Mitch (on a picnic) and I felt very silly. But it was kind of fun. Reminded me of our old lives!

Halogen Belt: For cinching flowy dresses with.

Tory Burch Watch: Do people still wear watches? What time is it? Day?

Nordstrom beauty

Beauty

Olaplex Set: You know how I feel about Olaplex. If your hair is damaged and dry, TRY THIS. I went from having no hair to having quite a bit with the help of Olaplex; it’s a miracle product. Turned my hair from straw to silk, and I now have double (if not triple) the hair that I used to!

Bobbi Brown Face Base: Game-changer. It’s expensive, but a little goes a long way. This stuff is a moisturizer AND primer in one, and it keeps your makeup on your face all day long. It’s nuts, and 100-percent the best beauty product I own. Before finding this, I’d need to do touchups throughout the day. But no more! Couldn’t live without it.

diptyque Scent Set: Everyone loves diptyque! You can also get the candle set on sale, which makes for a great housewarming gift.

T3 Curling Iron: I’m now a huge fan of the Dyson AirWrap, but this is what I used to use to curl my hair and it’s AWESOME… and much more affordable. (I own the Dyson because of a past project.) The T3 is truly the best traditional curling iron I’ve ever tried, and the curls or waves–depending on what you choose–are stunning. Here’s the T3 hairdryer. (Also, for what it’s worth, I still do my hair at least three times per week. It’s makes a difference!)

Mario Badescu Essentials Set for Acne: That drying lotion, man. If something pops up before an event (ha), this is what you use. Gets rid of most stuff overnight!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: Face feelin’ old? Mine too. This stuff really helps the skin recover overnight, as the name suggests. My skin looks a lot brighter and healthier when I use it! Here’s the hydration set from Kiehl’s, which gives you a chance to try everything from the line and see what you love before committing to bigger quantities.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser: I use this! I believe this is the jumbo size. It’s very gentle and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I should also mention that Kiehl’s is right near my house so it was very convenient and fun to go and browse.

Le Labo Travel Perfume: LOVE Le Labo, but woo-ee. Gotta wait until it goes on sale. My favorite scent is Rose 31, but I also have this scent and love it! The best thing is that it’s all unisex. Mitch likes it, too.

Kids + baby

Kids + baby

Ugg Booties: Oh man, Friends. We’re nearing the end, and this girl is going to bed soon. WOO! Anyway, kids’ Uggs might seem crazy, but they LAST. I used to buy Emma the knockoff ones, and they were adorable… but I had to replace sometimes in the middle of the season. We’re goin’ on two years with her Uggs, though, which I bought very large–and they look brand new. I also plan on passing them down to Lucy, who’ll probably get another two to three years’ wear out of them. They’re fantastic and so warm, which is needed in Chicago. I love the sparkly pair but the pink is sweet, too.

Zella Live-In Leggings: For kids?! So cute. Emma does, however, own one zillion pairs of leggings.

Baby Bunting: Things like this is why people keep having babies. So cute.

The North Face Fur-Lined Jacket: This looks wonderfully cozy.

Critter Mary Janes: Cute Mary Janes are hard to find! Emma loves the critters.

Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket: Another investment, but awesome if you size up and also have a sibling to pass it down to. (Less stuff, easier life, in my opinion.) Love both the gray and the navy. (Here is the boys’ version.)

Tucker + Tate Cozy Jogger Pants: I love twinning with my kids. This might need to happen.

Thule Double Jogging Stroller: I hear this is the best jogging stroller. I should jog.

Tucker + Tate Bear Cozy Fleece Jacket: I mean…

Maxi-Cosi Car Seat: This is our car seat! Love it.

Scalloped Booties: A great everyday fall boot.

Maxi-Cosi Infant Car Seat: We used this with the girls when they were babies! Clips into a lot of strollers.

Patagonia Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece: Wonderfully soft. Love when adult clothing comes in mini. It’s adorable.

Adidas Sneakers: Like these. COME ON.

Patagonia Better Sweater Pullover: And the Better Sweater Pullover?!

Steve Madden Riding Boots: Riding boots for little girls. I can’t. But I can. And I will. Or might, at least. We’ll see.

The North Face Baby Jacket: More coziness.

Patagonia Furry Friends Fleece: Emma and Lucy in these?! Yes.

Men's at Nordstrom

Men’s

Sperry Topsiders: Mitch’s most-worn Sperrys. Can’t go wrong with ’em.

Vineyard Vines Polo: Mitch’s most-worn polo. It’s t-shirty. Looks sharp.

Vest: Mitch does not wear vests but loves the IDEA of them and therefore buys them. It’s like me and heels.

Patagonia Better Sweater Pullover: This, however, he wears every day in the winter.

Patagonia Two-Tone Pullover: Same. ^

Quilted Barbour Jacket: I’m pretty sure this is the exact Barbour he owns?!

throw blankets

Throw blankets

Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw: The only products from the home section that caught my eye were the throws. This one is my favorite and on my wishlist! It gets RAVE reviews. (Here are all the Barefoot Dreams home products.)

Nordstrom Bliss Throw: For less than $25, this is a great alternative.

Rope Blanket: Every living room needs one! This one is super similar.

Plume Throw Blanket: Would look lovely in a little girls’ room.

Pom Blanket: Just as good as the rope blankets! Love the palms.

Faux Minx Fur Blanket: Our faux minx blanket gets so much use during the winter.

Faux Fur Throw: Another solid throw. Here’s a great alternative.

Ugg Whistler Blanket: Anything Ugg…

BP. Shaggy Throw: Would be nice to drape this over a chair if my children didn’t steal ALL THROWS and hide them around the house how is that even fun give them back guys!

Anthropologie Blanket: I really just appreciate the artistic vision behind this product photo.

OVER AND OUT, everyone! If you’re still here, thanks for coming along for wild ride. See you back here tomorrow!

And remember to enter to win $500 to shop the sale, just by leaving a comment at the bottom of this ridiculously long blog post! Btw: I recently fixed the comments section section of the blog, and I’m really excited about it. 😆

Here’s how to enter:
