Okay. I may have noticed this morning that I’ve been spending far too much time complaining about the incessant snow storms we’ve recently been hit with. Eeek. Sorry about that! Today I kind of came to the realization that winter simply comes along with its little inconveniences (like school never being cancelled, even when conditions are crazy dangerous!), and I just need to deal. There are, however, things I can do that can help me get through this season.
One of them is embracing new spring lines earlier than I normally do. Lately, I’ve been feeling like a complete mess, living in leggings, loose tops, and the same boots. It’s my winter uniform! (Blargh.) I don’t know about you, but when I look messy and dull, I tend to feel messy and dull, too. Today, though, I wore this adorable bright gingham shirt–a Vineyard Vines new arrival–and it really helped me feel a bit more put together. Of course, I’m still sporting a lot of pieces from my usual “winter uniform,” but the fun button-down brought me back to easier days… and it subtly reminded me that spring and summer aren’t as far away as they seem! Summers down the Shore and on Nantucket, windows down, Bruce Springsteen blasting, toes in the sand, cocktails in hand, beach parties, boating, crab fests, family, friends… Sigh. I can’t wait, but I certainly don’t want to wish away the other months, either. Even a month like February is filled with its own special moments!
There’s something about Vineyard Vines that just makes me happy. “Every day should feel this good,” right? I’m embracing the motto! :)
Shirt: Vineyard Vines (c/o) — So adorable, right?! Be sure to check out all Vineyard Vines new arrivals here! / Blazer: J.Crew (On sale! Also available in the newer cut, also on sale. Need help with sizing? I typically wear a 0 or XS in J.Crew, but I always wear a size 2 in the brand’s blazers for extra room in the shoulders.) / Jeans: Hudson / Boots: L.L. Bean (I know. I wear them every day. But I can’t survive without them! For reference, I normally wear a 7.5, but I took a size 7 in these. While they’re a little bit too big, the size 6 boots were too small. These are the 8-inch boots.) / Tote: C.Wonder (Sold out, but have you seen the newest C.Wonder tote?! Swoon!) / Necklace: J.Crew (Sold out), similar here / Bracelet: Kate Spade (Sold out), but still available here, and earrings available here / Watch: Michael Kors / Earrings: J.Crew / Lipstick: Clinique (in “Pudgy Peony”)
