Because of the hurricane, I postponed my trip home to the East Coast. I was bummed about missing out on a weekend with my family, but Mitch and I had a great couple of days together. The weather was wet and chilly, so on Friday night, we got clam chowder at Fahlstrom’s Fresh Fish Market, and on Saturday morning, we bundled up, got our first pumpkin coffees of the season, and drove up to Winnetka to see all the beautiful homes. (Gasp.) I’d never been, and had always wanted to visit the Home Alone house, haha. (See what it looks like today here.) Something tells me we’ll be driving through Winnetka again in a few months to see the holiday lights!
On Saturday night, we met up with friends at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, which recently arrived in Lincoln Park. (Dino BBQ was an absolute favorite in New York, so we were ridiculously excited when we heard it was coming to the Windy City!) What a blast. Lots of laughs, some great live music, and the best barbecue. We stayed out a bit too late, so we kept Sunday low-key: long walks in the neighborhood, a trip to Home Depot (we basically live there), and food shopping.
In other news, there are some really amazing sales going on right now! Barbour jackets are 25 percent off, and today is the last day of the Tory Burch sale. (Use code “FALLEVENT” to take 20 percent off $300, 25 percent off $500, and 30 percent off $750.) Sizing advice for Barbour: Size up. I typically wear a size XS/0 in jackets, and wear a US 4 in Barbour. Sizing advice for Tory Burch boots: Go up one half size. I wear a 7.5, but always take an 8 in TB boots. Happy shopping!
