The Fourth of July is my absolute favorite holiday, so I turn it into a weeklong celebration every year. ;) (Who can pick only one red-white-and-blue outfit?! Puh-lease!) I love everything about this time of year, from the fireworks, fishing, and watermelon-eating contests to warm weather, boating, and spending time with family and friends. (Obviously the most important!)
This year, we’re spending the Fourth at my inlaws’ new lake house, located about two hours south of Chicago. They have 40 friends and family members coming for the party! I’m so, so excited. My father-in-law, John, always puts on the best fireworks show, and my mother-in-law, Lisa, is a fabulous cook. (I’m pretty sure I heard her mention that she’d cooked 20 pounds of beef for the occasion!) It’s going to be a great day, for sure. (And a nice little break from the unpacking!)
