Commando Faux Leather Leggings (Up to 25 percent off with code “FALL20.” Here’s the velvet version!) / Rails Shirt (Up to 25 percent off with code “FALL20.” Softest and nicest button-up I own!) / Sam Edelman Lorraine Loafers (Up to 25 percent off with code “FALL20.” Inspired by the Gucci Brixton Loafers!) / Madewell Transport Tote (Part of the giant Madewell sale! Use code “SPREETIME” to take up to 30 percent off your purchase.) / Madewell Oversized Jean Jacket (Part of the Madewell sale. Use code “SPREETIME.” This Madewell jean jacket is part of the Shopbop sale, though. Up to 25 percent off with code “FALL20.”)
Last day: Shopbop Sale
Shop: Giant Madewell Sale
Kind of crazy, I know.
Here we are with an October outfit post.
I don’t even know what to say about that. 😆 But I somehow pulled my act together yesterday and looked somewhat like a human and yeah. Felt good. I’m even inspired to start planning my outfits ahead of time so I can get that feeling more often. But let’s be serious; we all know who I am and that’ll last a hot week. But what a week it’ll be!
Anyway, it’s like midnight and feeling the tunes so let’s talk about the Shopbop sale—last day!—because if you’re going to invest in some staples this season, now’s the time. And I have some thoughts! (Use code “Fall25” to take up to 25 percent off your order.) On a related note, the giant Madewell sale is also going on. Use code “SPREETIME” to take up to 30 percent off your purchase!
Also, have you listened to Phoebe’s Bridgers’ “Kyoto”?! Because love. Enjoy
Okay! Here we go.
Commando Faux Leather Leggings: These are amazing. They’re my warmest faux leather leggings and the ones I rely on most during the winter. They’re a little fuzzy on the inside, so you feel cool but also warm. See what I did there? TTS. (Here’s the velvet version!)
Rails Shirt: This is an investment, and one that should only be made during this sale. But it’s the softest and nicest button-up I own! I love the look of a crisp white shirt but don’t enjoy being freezing. This gives me the look without the chilliness. I go up a size for a slightly oversized fit.
Sam Edelman Lorraine Loafers: Inspired by the Gucci Brixton Loafers, these are amazing and come in tons of different colors. The leather is soft and there isn’t any break-in time. They also run true to size. Get the look without the $800 bill!
Madewell Transport Tote: This is actually part of the giant Madewell sale. (Use code “SPREETIME” to take up to 30 percent off your purchase.) Mine is many years old, but there have been a ton of new additions to the line over the years, and they’re all bags you’ll have for life. Can’t recommend the Transport bags more. You can bring them into the store to have ’em monogrammed, too! (Wear a mask.)
Madewell Oversized Jean Jacket: Again, this jacket is part of the Madewell sale. (Use code “SPREETIME.”) This Madewell jean jacket is part of the Shopbop sale, though. But I have to say that the oversized one is where it’s at. I love the longer length because it allows me to wear leggings with it; it covers my butt! I also adore how soft it is. A reader told me how obsessed I’d be when I was thinking it over, and she was right. Jean jackets are rarely cozy, but this one is! A+ from me. Sizing: Go one size down unless you’re into the very oversized look!

Here it is in a lighter wash.

Velvet version.
Man, I wish this wasn’t sold out in my size.
So classy! That ruffle!
This doesn’t look like something I’d blog about, haha, but it’s really cute worn almost as a camisole under sweaters that come close to falling off the shoulder. Do you know what I mean? Better than a bra showing. I’ll show myself out…
This is Madewell’s most famous tee.
Hunters for a deal!
At the moment, this is my favorite of the Transport line.
LOVE the leather backpack! So into backpacks at this stage of life because I really need to be hands-free for all the mini emergencies.
Hands down, Madewell makes the *best* jeans. (Better than the designer stuff, in my opinion.) Here are some of my favorites!
Darker.
Lighter!
The Frances loafer in leopard print. (One of the comfiest loafers on the market!)
Classic jean jacket.
I’M INTO THESE. Are you?
Rag & Bone is expensive, but it’s oh-so-dreamy. Very soft. Holds up. The idea here is that you buy one or two pairs of jeans over the next five years instead of multiple. The verdict’s still out on which is the better approach. ;)
The Lorraine loafers! Inspired by the Gucci Brixton loafers, now we can all have the horsebit look without the crazy price tag. I also love how many more options Sam Edelman offers! Side note: TTS and no break-in time. Such a great shoe!
I think this is the color I’m wearing.
Timeless black.
These are GORGEOUS! I think I like them better than the ones I’m wearing.
The Felicia flat is insanely comfy. I have them in brown. TTS. Look no further for the perfect ballet flat; malleable leather and a comfy footbed.
Also extremely comfortable—known for their comfort, actually!
Spanx’s black leggings; a fall and winter staple if you need to replace your pair!
A random find but I’m here for it. The price tag is insane, too!
I REALLY LIKE THESE. I kind of want to be a little edgy this year. Thoughts on whether I can pull it off? (Ha.)
Oh, so sweet.
This sweater! I’d need higher-rise jeans, haha, but so pretty.
Is this available in your size? Such a find!
Winter white jeans!
AG makes some seriously nice denim. Out of my designer jeans, they’re my fave. Here they are in a darker wash—in my favorite cut.
And even darker!
My only sneakers! Huge fan. So comfy. I went up a half size.
I really like the leopard…
My favorite white button-up. I went up a size for a slightly flowy. look. YES, it’s expensive, but it’s soft and cozy and extremely well-made. No way I’m wearing a poplin shirt in October; brrrrr! This, though, gets me the look without the shivers.
Love love love.
Some awesome J. Brand finds in my preferred cut!
Classic black booties.
Gold flats = only fancy footwear you’ll be seeing me in this holiday season.
To cinch those sweater dresses in with!
Not going to the dry cleaners because of Covid? Have no fear! Frankly, you shouldn’t be going at all anymore. Introducing the stuff that’ll wash your wool and cashmere in the washing machine. You’re welcome.
SO CUTE.
My cousins gave me these probably 10 years ago, and they remain my special occasion earrings!
What Chicago Girl doesn’t own a pair of Sorel boots? Adore these.
And these!
…And these.
…Houston, I mean Chicago, we have a problem. (Actually, these are a little clunky. So they’re not my faves.)
Ummm, I’m kind of drawn to these. Opinions?
More “winter white” jeans, by Madewell—again, maker of my favorite jeans of all time. Byeeeeee!
