SUMMER IS HERE.
Like, officially.
:)
In honor of its first day, Mitch and I spent the morning and afternoon on our bikes, cruisin’ around the neighborhoods north of ours in the 85-degree weather. (Yes.) Later, we headed downtown (via subway) to picnic at the Pavilion in Millennium Park for the Iron & Wine/Damien Rice concerts with our friends Doug and Emily, Kit and Lauren.
Honestly, I couldn’t have imagined a better kickoff to the season. We sat on blankets in the grass for hours, chatting, laughing, listening to the music, and soaking up the warmth. As the sun set, the city lights lit up around us, and everything seemed magical.
The next time you’re in Chicago, you must visit the Pavilion. So many productions–from concerts to movies and plays–take place there, and a huge number of ’em are free. Pack a picnic basket, a couple of blankets and some bug spray, and you’ll have the best night. :)

Kit is, by far, the best picnicker I’ve ever met.
