(Disclosure: I always wear a helmet. Mitch snapped the biking pics in about three minutes, and he simply held my helmet during this time. Protecting your head is ridiculously important. Never ride without a helmet!)
LOFT Top c/o — Similar here and here / Milly for Ann Taylor Shorts (Old, similar here and here — and someone please scoop this up before it sells out!) / Sperrys / Daniel Wellington Watch c/o / Helen Ficalora Necklace c/o / J.Crew Earrings / Kate Spade Sunglasses (Old, but love this similar pair from Tory Burch and this similar pair by Ray-Ban)
Every once in a while, it’s really important for me to unplug and hit the reset button. As life has been pretty overwhelming lately, I took the last couple of days off blogging and freelance work. I forgot about self-imposed deadlines and told myself I’d get to it in a few days… and as a result, I’m feeling way more positive than I did before the weekend. :) Still a bit flustered, but way more positive.
For Christmas, my father-in-law bought an old cruiser bike from the 1960s and restored it for me. (Isn’t it gorgeous?! And how sweet is that?!) I recently brought it back to Chicago, and have been using it constantly. These photos were actually taken a couple of weeks ago, but this gives you an idea of how I spent this past weekend. :) So relaxing.
That said, I still feel like I need a vacation. Which is one of the many reasons I’m beyond excited about this coming week. Mitch and I are headed to my parents’ house on the Jersey Shore on Thursday, and my dad took off a whole five days–nine, including the weekends–to spend some quality time with us! (Love you, Dad.)
I’m looking forward to watching the fireworks in the sand, having a giant crab/lobster fest, going out to eat in Cape May (where Mitch and I had our engagement dinner), boating, consuming massive quantities of Kohr’s, talking Noodle on long walks on the beach, happy hours at twilight, blasting music and sitting on the front porch, breakfast on the boardwalk, bike riding, and boogie boarding. (I leave the surfing to my brothers. Kelly on the surfboard is pretty dangerous for everyone.)
Anyway, hope you guys took some time to unplug and get away this weekend, too. :) Regular posts will commence tomorrow! xx
I love your bike!!
I’m headed to Cape May in two weeks, too funny Kelly you’re always one step ahead of me. I think especially in the summer it’s important to take blogging breaks and just enjoy the weather because those winters are longggg!

glad to see someone was wearing a helmet.
The disclosure should help ease your worries. But, as always, thank you for your concern! ;)
I think its just incredibly irresponsible to put up pictures of you riding a bike with no helmet, with or without a disclaimer,
We’re all entitled to our opinions. :)
Major bike envy! What a special present to receive and the color is so good!

THANK YOU! It seriously took me three days to decide on a color, hahaha
Bike riding is one of my favorite activities too! I just bought a cheap cruiser hybrid for NYC in the fall and I can’t wait :)

Whoah, wait, am I the only one who wants to know more about that delicious donut? Please tell me where I can get one of those…I’m headed to Chicago for the 4th and I am in need of some foodie finds. Help a girl out!
Oh my gosh, Piper, this cracked me UP.
I got it at the Old Town Art Fair, and it was SO GOOD. I see them all over the place during street fairs, and there’s ALWAYS one going on in the summer.
Also, check out my friend Kit’s blog. SO much great info on Chicago restaurants!!
