Our $200 Amazon playhouse (also available via Walmart+ and Wayfair) is being painted for Mother’s Day! I know, I know. This might not seem like a gift for me. BUT IT IS. 😆
In case you’re new here, I love kids’ toys. They’re so much fun. And I really like creating inviting and nurturing kids’ spaces. I love seeing the girls’ eyes grow wide and their imaginations sparked. So as you can imagine, I’m beyond excited!
Here are my initial ideas:
What it looks like now ^
PLANS
The paint
House: Benjamin Moore Moonlight White. That’s the color of the fence on the deck so I know it won’t clash. (I’m terrible at picking out whites.)
Door: ?! I’m all over the place here. Says the woman putting her heart and soul into a playhouse. The one thing I know is that I want some contrast. Part of me thinks I should keep it a natural wood and stain it a nice walnut color. Another part of me thinks black. And yet another part of me thinks pink. (Benjamin Moore “Strawberry Freeze” is cute. And, I mean, we have little girls! Okay, now I’m leaning toward pink… 🤪) Please provide your thoughts, haha.
Roof: Benjamin Moore HC-190 Black. This is the color of the front door on our actual house. (I think, at least. Need to confirm with the wonderful previous owners.) I love it! (But then again I might paint it white so we can do cedar shingles. I’m nuts.)
Appliances: Spraying those gold, duh!
The accessories
This is the really fun part! I should preface this with the fact that these are just ideas. I will likely only do a few things to initially make it special, and then perhaps add more over time!
Awnings or curtains: The pink striped curtains are killing me.
Mountable brass bell: A MUST.
Light or Lanterns: I’m here for the hanging lanterns!
Hydrangeas in pots: I think the pots need to be around 4″-4.25″ to fit. Not sure about that yet, though.
Stools: My parents are giving these to Lucy for her birthday!
Doormat: HOW ADORABLE.
Bigger ledge: This would make for a great countertop. Not sure if it’ll fit. Stay tuned.
Lawn: I feel like that would make things very cozy!
Wreath: So we can decorate it for every holiday?! I’m a nut.
Mailbox: So we can paint and personalize it.
Sign: The sweetest.
Plastic play food: We have a TON of this! Great because it’s plastic and won’t take on water.
Waterproof toy box: This is up on our deck, and we couldn’t live without it! All toys go in there so we don’t have to go up and down a zillion times. The girls also know to quickly tidy the space before leaving!
