In elementary and middle school, I remember majorly struggling with estimations. Remember the whole guess-how-many-candies-are-in-this-jar thing?
I don’t know; five hundred? Five thousand? Ugh. Whatever. Who cares?
And it seems that today, I still struggle.
Recently, it became very clear to me that my days of driving to and from the East Coast are pretty much over. Mitch and I plan on doing it next summer, but for the most part, driving 12+ hours with a baby and a miniature dachshund just doesn’t sound appealing to us. ;) And after my trip to Dallas for the rewardStyle Conference with a duffle bag (#ugh), I decided it was about time I invested in some good luggage. (The kind that spins and is essentially effortless.)
Enter my new suitcase! It’s fabulous. The compartments make disorganization nearly impossible, the shell is bullet-proof, and everything wipes clean. (I have the carry-on, too, but didn’t bring it on this trip.)
Anyway, I flew Frontier back home, and Frontier has a 50-pound weight restriction for checked luggage. But Mitch and I don’t have a scale, I haven’t checked a bag in years, and estimation has (clearly) never been my strong suit. So I way under-packed. Like, my bag only weighed 26 pounds, haha. BOO. And now I have VERY little for the next couple of weeks.
Definitely messed up. But it’s fine. Laundry it is… and perhaps a little shopping?!
The last time I was home, Mom and I fell completely in love with this dress. We ordered four of ’em, though, because we had no idea what sizes we’d take. (Especially what size I’d take!) And I’m so glad we reserved this week for returning in Princeton, because hello, definitely keeping the larger one you see here!
These photos were snapped yesterday, very quickly and in the rain, right before I headed up to Connecticut to see Beth, my college roommate and best friend from my days at Fairfield University. We had a great time catching up and chatting about the babies over dinner. (Beth’s second baby boy is due on Friday!) The best part was that it felt like no time at all had passed since the last time I saw her. Don’t you just love friendships that stand the test of time?
While I’m typically horrible about making the rounds to see friends while I’m home, I’m kind of killing it this time and super happy about it. ;) Of course, the irony of the situation is hysterical. (Nearly eight months pregnant and this is when I feel compelled to see everyone?!) But it’s been the best. Mary and Rebec, can’t wait to see you tonight! <3
