Coffee in Alys Beach

A short walk from Rosemary and Seacrest is Alys Beach, which is pronounced “Alice Beach,” and one of the most interesting places I’ve seen in Florida. It’s very new, and you can see homes going up every which way. The first time I walked through, all I could think was that Marie Kondo and Restoration Hardware partnered to create a Grecian version of The Truman Show? (Fun fact: The Truman Show was shot just down the road in the Seaside.) Ha! Like, everything was so perfect that it almost felt like it wasn’t real. Oh, but it’s real. 😆

Much like Rosemary Beach and Seaside, Alys is a planned community—and that’s why everything looks so perfect. It’s clearly for the uber wealthy, but it’s a really cool visit for non-residents, too. Some might say that everything looks the same, and there’s certainly something to that. However, the amount of detail and planning that clearly went into every home on every street is pretty amazing. And the design is, in fact, inspired in part by Mediterranean villages!

On one of our last mornings in Rosemary, Mitch and I took Lucy over to Fonville Press Market & Cafe for coffee (us) and cookies (Lucy). I wish I had taken more photos of Fonville, because WOW. It’s stunning! (See pics here.) And the coffee and food was exceptional, too. We also sat next to the most adorable yellow lab that almost looked like she was smiling for photos. 😜 Lucy loved that.
