I’ve been meaning to review the Alex Mill Reversible Button-Back Crewneck Sweater for the longest time. It’s the best; a timeless staple that works for all four seasons, which it why it comes with me on every trip I take.
The reasons I love it:
- It’s cotton. I can’t wear sweaters without a turtleneck underneath. The itchiness drives me insane! This sweater, however, is as soft as can be.
- It’s striped. Every closet needs a classic striped sweater!
- It’s reversible. It has buttons down the back and can be worn as a cardigan, too. Of course I forgot to take a photo of that (😆) but you can scroll to the bottom of this post and see the model wearing it as a cardigan. So cute, right?
- It features a chunky knit. The chunkier the better! (I’ve had mine for a while and no pulls, either. Which is really saying something considering I have a miniature dachshund and a three-year-old!)
- The stripes are a dark enough navy blue that they can pass as black, too. Love this about the sweater. I’ve totally worn it with black booties and flats, and it doesn’t clash whatsoever. (Though I see more and more navy-and-black pairings these days anyway!)
I should note here that there’s a true cardigan version as well. (I have that in green!) But the reversible button-back sweater is the better buy, in my opinion, since it can be worn as both a cardigan and crewneck sweater.
In terms of sizing, I’ve found that Alex Mill runs TTS. I’m wearing a small here, which is what I usually prefer in sweaters, though I probably could have gone down a size if I’d wanted a more fitted look. I love the slouchy, slightly oversized fit of the small, though, and am so happy with it!

^ This is how you can wear it reversed. The background color is not yellowy; my photos are a more accurate depiction. It’s a creamy white for sure, but not yellowy!
