I realized yesterday that I’m really, really tired… and I need a break from blogging. Honestly, I love writing and photography and (nearly) everything that comes along with running this site, but I’m itching to hit the pause button and step away for a while.
I wish I could delve a bit deeper into my reasoning, but the truth is that there’s not much reason to it. Nothing traumatic or life-changing has occurred; I’ve simply spread myself too thin and I’m unhappy.
So what’s happening to Kelly in the City while I’m “away”? Content will still go up, but it’ll be pre-scheduled content… meaning that it’ll be mostly photos, with a few sentences here and there. With any hope, I’ll be back soon, feeling reenergized and a bit more like myself.
Thank you so much for following along, and for allowing me to share my life with you.
Take good care of yourself Kelly! Will miss you while you are away, but totally understand.
Absolutely take a break. Enjoy, life and that beautiful baby, they grow up much too fast. Also, buy a Verilux light, I can’t begin to tell you how much it helps during these gray winter months. Mine is 5′ from my desk and is on every minute I’m sitting there and working.
Diane, Couldn’t agree more. It has really helped me get through the winter months!
I completely understand and can totally relate to this! Enjoy your time off :)
Xoxo Amber
Good for you! Take some time off to spend it with that adorable little girl of yours.
I’m glad you are able to recognize when you need some “you” time. Enjoy your break! <3

Can I just tell you how glad I am to see you taking a break? While your job has more flexible hours than a regular 9-5, it’s still a job. I was legitimately worried about you when you said you weren’t taking a maternity leave. Maybe it’s because I’m older than you (closer to 40 than 30) but I was feeling very maternal (I’ve got two girls of my own) and I wanted to “be your mom” and tell you that you needed it;) Oh my word – being a mom is BOTH the best and hardest job in the world. And don’t get me started on how difficult it is to adjust after a baby!! Whew! So enjoy your break and soak up that precious girl and family time!
Enjoy your vacation and much needed break. Everyone, at some point, must get away from work to refresh our minds. I just bought a diffuser and oils…anxiously awaiting them to arrive. Check them out and see if you could benefit. There are many scents to help with stress, sleep, etc! Snuggle, cuddle and love on Emma! See you soon!
Wishing you all the best. Enjoy this time with beautiful. Emma. Being a mom is such hard work. I admire you for recognizing you need a break.
Will miss your blogging but wish you a restful and rejuvenating time away!
I can totally relate, Kelly. I haven’t posted a true blog post in over a month and I’ve only posted about 5 instagrams in the past 30 days. I can’t really explain why, but I was worn out. I hope that you enjoy your break and are able to spend some quality time recharging with your adorable baby girl and all of the activities you love. And we will still be here waiting to see your amazing style when you get back!
Have a good break , dear Kelly with your little beautiful Emma and Mitch. i’ll miss you.
