It’s hard to believe that cold weather will be here sooner than we know, but before I’m ready to pull out a puffer coat, I like to get a little more wear out of some of my favorite pieces by layering everyday basics to create transitional outfits for fall. From work wear to a weekend outfit to a midi dress, here are three transitional outfits for fall.

Work Wear

3 Transitional Fall Outfits for work

White Long Sleeve Crewneck Tee / Black and White Tweed Jacket / High-Rise Demi-Boot Jeans / Pearl Hoop Earrings / Black Crossbody Bag / Gold Adjustable Bracelet / Black Suede Ballet Mules

I love this tweed jacket; it’s one of my favorite new arrivals from J.Crew. The black trim and gold button details are so pretty. For a business casual work wear outfit, style it with a basic white long sleeve crewneck tee and pair of non-distressed jeans like this demi-boot pair of denim. Accessorize with dainty pearl hoop earrings and a gold bracelet. Tie the look together with a black leather and suede crossbody bag and a pair of black suede mules or leather loafers. Weekend Outfit

3 Transitional Fall Outfits for the weekend

Navy Button-Collar Tunic Pullover / High-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans / Tortoise Sunglasses / Pearl Stud Earrings / Leather Crossbody Bag / White and Navy Canvas Sneakers

This navy button-collar tunic pullover is perfect for a cute and casual weekend outfit. I have it in a couple of colors, and it’s been a fall staple for me year after year. Style it with a pair of wide-leg jeans and white canvas sneakers. These are one of my favorite pairs of sneakers. They’re under $80 and super comfortable. Accessorize with pearl stud earrings, a leather crossbody bag, and a pair of tortoise sunglasses, and you’re ready for the weekend.

Fall Midi Dress

3 Transitional Fall Outfits Midi Dress

Floral Long Sleeve Tiered Midi Dress / Gold Hoop Earrings / Leather and Suede Tote Bag / Gold Bangle Bracelet / Knee-High Leather Boots

And lastly, a fall midi dress look. Honestly, I’m not quite ready to give up wearing midi dresses just yet haha, so here’s an easy way to wear one in the fall. I’d start with a neutral-colored dress or one with warmer colors like this floral midi dress. If it has long sleeves, even better; otherwise, layer on a cardigan, a blazer, or a light jacket for some extra warmth. Style it with knee-high leather boots or booties and a suede tote bag. To complete the outfit, accessorize with gold jewelry like these hoop earrings and this bangle bracelet.
