Preppy Getups and Ikat Totes/Recycled Pearls for a Good Cause

Surprise, surprise! Another one of those J.Crew/J.Crew Factory “City Mini” skirts. ;) (Similar here in hot pink, here in yellow,  here in black and here in linen.) I’m so predictable sometimes.

What want to call to your attention today, though, is not my skirt but my ikat Minty Rope Tote from Hearts, a newly launched ethical fashion brand. I love a good tote bag (I certainly have my fair share of stuff to tote around the city with me every day), but I really love a good tote bag that’s cute (#ikatlove) and promotes a good cause. The bag was handcrafted in Cambodia by Khmer artisans–experts in Cambodian ikat weaving–in the Cheu Teal Village of the Takeo Province. The partnership is helping the artisans (as well as their entire community) achieve sustainable employment and a higher quality of living. How could you not love a tote bag that does all that?!

My pearls, which are also from Hearts, are reused and “upcycled.” I’ve been looking for a set of pearls that aren’t as long as my frequently worn quad-strand set to wear with button-downs. The Victoria Necklace really fits the bill.
