A cute story:
I’ve long adored the house you see these photos. It’s here in Lincoln Park, and the owners go all out for Christmas. It’s no wonder that it’s become my go-to for holiday photos, right?! I mean, the garland… the bows… the ivy. It’s perfect!
Today, when Mitch and I were snapping these photos, someone who works on the house came out and said, “Aren’t you the suitcase girl?!” Hahaha–so I said, why, yes. I am the suitcase girl. ;) She and the owner had seen the pics on a Facebook advertisement, and they’d loved them! (Which only makes me love the house even more. Its residents are kind!)
Of course, I told her to please relay my genuine thanks and to tell the owner how much we appreciate all the work they put into decorating the property. And that we’d likely see ’em again soon. 😂 Oh, the strange things I do for this blog… ;)
Anyway, I wanted to share this beautiful car coat I’m wearing here, which is by Eileen Fisher and carried exclusively at Bloomingdale’s. Honestly, the photos don’t do it justice! It has a notch stand collar, which gives it a very sophisticated look, and the most beautiful buffalo plaid pattern in a very light gray and white. As #60daysofplaid comes to a close and I’m starting to grow weary of Christmassy tartans, this was a breath of fresh air! Something that can be worn throughout the holidays but after, too. :) Oh, and it’s super soft. I never want to take it off!

And as for Bloomies, another quick story: I used to live a couple of avenues away from the store, on 6oth and 1st, back in my 20s. I loved wandering in and out on the way home from work, but I wasn’t in any position to be shopping anywhere since I was working my first job and was fairly broke. ;) But boy, would I daydream about it!
A year later, I was in a better financial situation, but had just broken up with my longterm boyfriend and was in a bit of a rut. My mom told me that some retail therapy was in order… and I was like, “You know what?! It is.” So I marched myself in there and purchased my first pair of designer jeans and a $145 tote (that I still have to this day)–and strutted out like Andy right after she gets her makeover in “The Devil Wears Prada.” 😂 (And then I met Mitch a week later. Awwwww…)
I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. Bloomingdale’s selection is phenomenal, and its customer service is amazing. I also love that the store often carries exclusive versions of brands’ products. It’s always so fun finding stuff that isn’t available elsewhere! Also, if you ever find yourself on 60th and Lex in New York, you have to stop in. Especially right now! It’s a beautiful store in general, but it’s stunningly decorated for the holidays.
