Lace Dresses for a Night on Long Island

On Saturday night, Mitch and I drove out to Long Island to attend my cousin’s high school graduation party. In less than a week, Olivia is off to the College of William & Mary to compete on the school’s gymnastics team. (And get a stellar education. ;)) I’m so proud of her! Our other cousin, Cassidy, is also headed off to college in a few short days! She’s headed off to Dickinson to play soccer. Go, Cass! So proud!

The night was an absolute blast. The party was held in my aunt and uncle’s backyard, and it was beautifully decorated, complete with a giant white tent and tiki lights. (With which I almost lit myself on fire several times. Sheesh, Kelly.) It was wonderful catching up with the family, too.

Back on the home front, Mitch and I are both sick. (I thought I’d kicked my illness, but it’s back! Boo.) We’re also still in the middle of the apartment search, which is tiring and discouraging. Maybe that’s the reason we’re sick? ;)

For those of you who remember me raving about this spectacular brownstone apartment we found in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood: we sadly lost it to another couple. Alas. It was so heartbreaking. We’d completely fallen in love with the unit as well as the neighborhood, and our hopes were UP. (And we found out we didn’t get it on the first day of our honeymoon! Ouch.)

BUT: we found a place in Hoboken we like. We’re just trying not to get our hopes up about it like we did last time! We’ll see. Cross your fingers for us. ;)

On a happier note, we got our wedding photos back! Oh. My. God. I cried the whole time while viewing them, haha. My parents are coming over on Tuesday to see them (and grab dinner with us), so I’ll post lots on Wednesday! I can’t wait to share.
