What to Buy from Tuckernuck in August

It’s hard to believe that summer is already winding down and that fall and cooler temps will be just around the corner before we know it. Tuckernuck always has the best pieces for fall, so I sifted through their new arrivals and pulled some of my favorite finds to share. There are a few transitional pieces you can wear from the end of summer into fall as well as a bunch of new fall staples like quilted coats and cozy sweaters that I’m looking forward to pulling out in about a month.

Target Fall Home Decor Finds

Target Fall Home Decor Finds

Target just released some of their new fall home decor and furniture collections, and everything looks so lovely. I’m always surprised by the quality of their pieces, even at such an affordable price point. For example, we just purchased this cabinet on sale for $300 for the Rosemary Beach bedroom and absolutely adore it! They also released some classic fall home decor like candles and wreaths to look forward to putting out as soon as the season rolls around. I’m still savoring the end of summer but seeing this collection has me a little more excited for fall. Keep reading to see my favorite new Target fall home decor finds.

Back To School Home Organization Ideas

Back to School Organization

Back to school season is upon us, so cue the organization before the start of the school year. For the last couple of years, Mitch and I have been devoting 15 minutes every day to one “home task” that’s been bugging us, and I can’t tell you how much of an impact tackling one small project every day has made on our happiness. My problem previously was that I tended to shut down and put off big organizational projects because it was overwhelming. But 15 minutes per day? I can handle that. I’ve been incredibly surprised to see how much I can accomplish in that timeframe. Slowly but surely, things are starting to fall into place! If you’re looking to tackle a few projects before the end of summer, here are some back to school home organization ideas.

3 Workwear Outfit Ideas

workwear outfit ideas

As summer winds down, I wanted to share three end-of-summer business casual workwear outfit ideas. Whether you work from home or go into an office, you still want to look and feel your best. When shopping for office clothes I think it’s easiest to treat it as a capsule wardrobe. Look for neutral basics that you can layer to make multiple outfits; think blazers, blouses, sweaters, tees, and jackets. Choose versatile pieces you can style on the weekends or wear out to dinner with friends after work to make the most out of your wardrobe; this is where pieces like work dresses are so great. For example, this gorgeous polished shirtdress can be easily worn to any occasion by simply swapping out the shoes and accessories. And pick pieces you feel comfortable in. There’s nothing worse than having to adjust a dress or a blouse throughout the day or wearing tailored work pants that are not fun to sit in.

Transitional Basics Under $100

Transitional seasons are not only tricky to dress for, but they can also be challenging to shop for. It’s hard to invest in a piece you know realistically you’ll only get to wear for a month or two before the seasons change. That’s where transitional basics under $100 come in. Think cardigans that are easy to layer or floral dresses that you can style with leather riding boots or ankle boots in the fall. T-shirts, button-ups, and midi skirts are also all great pieces to shop for since they’re so versatile year-round. Here are some of the transitional basics under $100 I’m eyeing.

August Favorites & Best Sellers

Somehow it’s already August, which means we’re in the final stretch of summer break over here. It’s been a jam-packed summer starting with taking Emma and Lucy to their first Taylor Swift show (so many happy tears!) Then the girls headed to Gammy Camp, Mitch and I visited Colorado Springs, and celebrated our 10 year anniversary. There were lots of coffee dates with the girls at La Colombe, backyard grilling nights, boat rides on the lake, and evening bike rides to the beach. We even managed to tackle a few home projects off our list like refinishing our deck and building the outdoor kitchen of our dreams, renovating the mudroom, and most recently installing new garage floors… we’re happy we did it ourselves and learned a ton, but we definitely should have hired someone haha. Trying to level uneven floors was a bit of a disaster but the floors did not crack under the weight of the Atlas so I’ll call it a win.
