Having always been on the smaller size on top (ahem), wrap dresses never seemed to work for me. They’d either fall down, move, or hang loosely without my noticing. Eek! A couple of weeks ago, though, the New York-based designer Leota sent me one of the brand’s fabulous “Perfect Wrap Dresses,” and–oh my goodness–I’m wearing my first wrap dress! :)
The dress is actually a faux wrap dress, meaning that it’s sewn into place to avoid those awkward situations I experienced in the past. It features a fit-and-flare cut, too, which seems to flatter everyone. (Outside of the classic shift, it’s my go-to cut!) I also love that it has a “bracelet sleeve,” as I’m not a huge fan of pushing my sleeves up constantly. Oh! And it’s great for going from day to night. I wore this number with flats last week to an afternoon meeting, and then slipped on my pink pumps for an evening event. So easy, and so comfy.
Inspired by the era of classic Hollywood glamour, Sarah Carson founded Leota in 2011 with the designer’s first spring line. She started with a pile of polka dot material, but brand has quickly become a complete fashion line, offering four collections per year which are cut and sewn in New York, and carried by over 300 retailers across the world. Named after Sarah’s grandmother, Leota, the designer believes that “dressing up on the outside makes you feel great on the inside,” and “that comfort and style can live harmoniously and still look perfectly chic.”
Love it.
I’m giving away one of Leota’s Perfect Wrap Dresses this coming Saturday, so be sure to tune back into the blog this weekend to enter! :)
The perfect wrap dress — even for petite women! :)
