I have to tell you: Getting dressed in the morning with an infant in tow is a bit of a challenge. Simply put, you only have so much time before the baby wakes up! (And it’s not significant, unless you get up at the crack of dawn.) But if I’m being honest here, I’m to blame for a lot of that challenge. If I’d actually unpacked and organized the master bedroom before Emma was born (instead of just throwing everything into drawers and closets and calling it a day), I’d probably be having a much easier time with it. My wardrobe is just so disorganized. I tell myself every day that I’m going to fix the problem, but then life happens.

This is why I wear the same accessories, the same tops and the same couple of pairs of jeans day-in and day-out. GRAB AND GO, GRAB AND GO! ;)

Lately, to make my “on repeat” looks a little more exciting, I’ve been throwing on vests. How did I not realize that vests make any outfit–even just a button-down or t-shirt and jeans–look really cute?! I keep a few of ’em in the coat closet, and just throw one on before leaving the house. It definitely makes me feel more put-together!

The vest I’m wearing here is old, but I absolutely LOVE this one. You can find similar vests here, here, here, and here, too.

Side note: I love how I complained for most of my life about my mosquito bite-sized boobs, and now that I finally have bigger ones because of breastfeeding, I complain that I can’t fit in my old button-downs. LIFE! ;) Dad, if you’re reading this, I’m really sorry.

My mom is actually arriving today to visit and help out for an entire week. I’m so excited to spend some quality time with her and Emma, and to get my life back on track. ;) Mom’s going to watch the baby for a couple of hours in the morning so I can pound out some work at a nearby coffee shop, and I’m totally going to tackle my dresser and closet while she’s here! (We tackled her closet the last time I was home, and we did SUCH a good job. Hoping for a repeat!)

But until that happens, I’m just going to keep throwin’ on my vests.

Because it works!
