Matte Tall Yellow Hunter Boots (Also in glossy, and in the shorter version here.) / Hudson Skinny Jeans (Just ordered this pair and can’t wait to try ’em!) / Tuckernuck Scarf (Old, but love this plaid scarf and this Barbour wrap!) / Newer version of the Striped Turtleneck (On J.Crew.com, too. Also love the striped tissue turtleneck, which you can find on J.Crew.com, too. Wear mine constantly!)

A cute story:

Before Mitch and I started dating, we’d run into each other on the subway or on the platform in the Bronx, as we both took the 4,5,6 train to work every day. We’d pretend not to see each other, and when the train stopped at 149th Street, I’d book it as fast as I could to avoid awkwardness. (I blushed a deep shade of lobster red every time I saw him, and it was very embarrassing. 😳)

On one of our first dates, though, Mitch told me how he remembered the first time he saw me: walking down Third Avenue in yellow rain boots, arms full of textbooks and a giant coffee. It was before we’d met at work; we were just strangers. But once we did meet, he apparently looked for those boots whenever it rained. And now, yellow rain boots have come to represent something special for us. What? I’m not sure. It’s been a while since I taught English lit. ;) Hope? Happiness? Optimism? I think I remember yellow representing all of that. And that’s somewhat fitting! 😝

Regardless, Mitch is quite the fan of yellow rain boots, but I threw out my old pair when we left New York. (GAH! What does that symbolize?! Can’t be good, haha.) When I saw these tall yellow Hunter boots, though, it was love at first sight. A pop of happiness on a gloomy fall day, if you will. On a somewhat related note, did you see this adorable yellow toggle coat?! I’m so excited to wear it when winter descends on Chicago. (Gulp.) It’s selling out quickly, so be sure to nab yours now!

Anyway, if you need help with Hunter sizing, I usually wear a size 7.5 in flats, and I took a size 7 in my yellow boots. If you wear a whole size, order that size. But if you wear a half size, I’d size down. Hope that helps!

Scroll down for this week’s online shopping list, and hope everyone has a great weekend! Be sure to swing back around tomorrow, as Mitch and Emma have a fun post going up. :)

I adore sweaters I can throw on quickly over jeans during hectic mornings. I keep a pile of ’em in my dresser and just grab and go!

If you saw this post, you might have noticed the suede leggings I’m wearing. They’re PERFECT. And now I’m a David Lerner convert. They’re a little pricey, but they’re worth it. I took a size XS in the suede leggings, and I’m hoping that the leather version fits just as well!

I’ve never seen a swingy version of the classic cable-knit sweater, and I LOVE this one!

I’m so in love with this pair of leopard pumps from Kate Spade. I used to find KS shoes terribly painful. But goodness gracious: these pumps are like walking on clouds! No break-in time, and I’ve walked a couple of miles in ’em while on date nights. Can’t recommend them more, and very impressed with Kate Spade for possibly changing up the fit of the brand’s shoes. (?) If you’re looking for a more affordable option, I’d go with Talbots’ version, which I also love. They on sale, too!

I have a duster coat that I wear over camisoles, and this one looks just like it. Such a classy and easy look if you’re short on time.

LOVE this print. I have the skirt, but I love the jacket, too! (Skirt available through JCrew.com, too.)

These over-the-knee boots are on sale and WATERPROOF. Game-changer.

Love this Barbour wrap, which is very similar to the scarf I’m wearing in these photos.

Navy block heels. You’re welcome, Mom. ;)

Barbour recently sent me this sweater, and I’ve been living in in! Can’t get enough of those cute little cable-knit pockets. It comes in gray, too.

I’m excited to wear this in New York this week! Will report back with photos and a review soon. :)

My boots are back! If you can’t find your size, try Zappos. I have them in Umber, and find that they run a little small. I have them in a size 8, and normally wear a size 7.5 in shoes.

Such cute mules!

The cocoon coat is back. :) My favorite is the gray. It’s available on JCrew.com, too.

This is a must for travel. I used to bring along my large tote, but the backpack allows me to be hands-free, which is so important to me as a mom. The backpack folds up into a tiny little square and takes up SO little space in my suitcase, too!

A classic print for rainy fall days.

Why is this so expensive?! It’s super classy yet looks so warm. Sigh.

Hunter boot socks are essential for those chillier days.

Love wearing these socks under riding or over-the-knee boots. Elevates the look and makes everything look a little fancier! (Plus, added warmth.)

Another pair of mules that’ll go with everything.

On the hunt for the perfect silk or silk-looking camisoles. Love the one pictured to the left, and also this scalloped one, this one from Club Monaco, and this one from Banana. They’re perfect under sweater blazers!
