[dropcap]I[/dropcap] know I keep talking about my pesky 2016 Goals, but I like holding myself accountable for ’em. :) One that I’ve been kind of good about? Taking more photos.

This past weekend, my camera went all over Chicago with me: to Cindy’s Rooftop, the Art Institute, Montrose Dog Beach (did you see Noodle’s cuteness yesterday?!) and the Garfield Park Conservatory. And it was amazing. I found myself falling in love with my camera all over again, and seeing the beauty in everyday life… just like photography once did for me.

I didn’t mention this in the goals post, but I also want to place importance on creativity in my day-to-day outfit photos this year. Toward the end of last year, I found myself wanting to get the photos taken as quickly as possible, and thus falling back on the same techniques and shots again and again. (I blame the cold and the burn-out factor from the crazy holiday season.) As a result, everything just looked so similar. And bland. And not a reflection of why I originally started this blog.

So today, I’m changing things up a little! Gone are my typical poses–though don’t worry; they’ll be back for sure–and taking their place are some detail-oriented pics, which are much more aligned to my actual creative style. And I really have to hand it to my girl Jess, who always knows exactly what I’m taking about and who has a serious eye for detail. (And yes. I’m with Jess pretty much every day, haha.) Thaaanks, Friend.

Switching gears, let’s talk about leopard outerwear for a moment. ;) This Kate Spade Beauty was one of the coats I was considering getting rid of during my recent closet clean-out, yet I’m so glad I decided to hang on to it. While it might not be the best for those typical Januarys and Februarys we experience in Chicago, it’s been absolutely perfect for the “warm” spell we’ve recently been enjoying. And as silly as this sounds, it makes me feel like I’m standing out in the sea of black coats that usually overtakes these streets. It also feels like I’m wrapped up in my favorite blanket!

The coat I’m wearing is sadly sold out, but you can shop similar styles above. Have a great start to your week!
