As I was typing this post in bed, a GIANT SPIDER CAME DOWN FROM THE CEILING AND LANDED ON MY LAPTOP. I started screaming, crawled on top of Mitch’s head, and then punched the computer as hard as I possibly could because obviously killing a spider is worth throwing a couple thousand dollars down the drain. (Jokes. The laptop survived; the spider did not.) And now everyone–including Emma and Noodle–is awake.

Good times, good times.

But seriously: let’s just take a moment to appreciate Mitch. Yes, the man quickly ran into the bathroom to get paper towels to dispose of the carcass as quickly as possible because we’ve been through this before. He’s just awesome like that and truly understands my lunacy. ;) But he’s more than just a spider-killing hero. He’s the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet, and he’s funny and caring and dependable and selfless and the best dad and husband our little family could ever dream of having.

Mitch, I’m sorry I woke you up in the middle of the night. And I’m sorry that sometimes our lives are completely crazy and it seems like everything is falling apart. But man, do we have fun. Emma, Noodle and I (along with a slew of other people!) absolutely adore you, and we’re all wishing you the happiest of birthdays today! Even though it’s a school day, we’re going to have a BLAST when you get home, okay? Thank you for this wonderful, exciting life you’ve created for us. You’re our everything!

Anyway, since it’s Mitch’s birthday, I thought I’d touch upon the fact that gift-giving season is just around the corner. How is that even possible?! I don’t know. But if you’re like me, you probably have a ton of gifts to purchase even before the holiday season arrives. From birthdays to baby showers, though, Nordstrom has it all. I know I talk about this all the time, but Nordstrom. Is. The. Best. The retailer offers free shipping and returns no matter how much you spend, and the selection of products is so good.

Nordstrom is also where the gifts are. While there are so many holiday gifts already available, there are also gifts for her, gifts for him, gifts for baby, and gifts for kids–making shopping easy. I’m wearing/holding some of my favorite “gifts for her” in this post, like my initial necklace, Longchamp tote and mug… but below are some of my other favorite gifts for guys! It’s Mitch’s birthday, after all. ;)

Gifts for the Guys
